Melody seemed to cherish the insults towards her beloved too, as she hurried on to match Zack's brisk pace.
"I think I know where he is. There's a really big club on the other side of town, and I've caught him playing with other girls there a few times. I couldn't say anything, of course, but that's probably where he is right now." And, as if reading Zack's mind, she comments, "This would be much easier if we could fly. Sucks to be human, huh? Being the same species as that douche…"
(And I'm sorry about your deletion. F for respect)
(F in the chat)
Zack glanced back behind his shoulder, raising his eyebrows. "Mmm. I thought I smelled others on him." Suddenly, he paused abruptly, almost sending the pair to the ground.
"I can fly." He didn't even care that she was Human. If she were willing to be faster than the other Human, so be it.
Melody broke into a grin. "So can I." And in her moment, a pair of pearl colored wings tore from her back and outstretched in the glistening moonlight. "Glad one of us broke the awkwardness."
Zack grinned at her, a slight, genuine one. "Nice. Gotta respect that." He started at a run, his wings, big black angelic ones, blooming from his back and lashing to bring him up into the air. It was a little sloppy, but he recovered by bouncing off of the roof of the cafe. Soon he was up in the air, waiting for his companion.
She soared behind him, slowly gaining momentum and gaining a place by his side.
"Sorry, I haven't flown in a while. Mostly because Donovan's family has been busy harassing me for money I don't have." Melody rolled her eyes. "You'd think they'd be rolling in enough dough without taking my $4.50 an hour, honestly."
Zack beat his wings loudly to keep him and his heavy bag in the air. He nodded turning for the direction of the Human.
"I get that feeling sometimes." He laughed bitterly, crossing his arms. "Alright, so the Human's going down that way. Should we corner him?"
"Yes, it would be better if we caught him in a deserted alleyway. Let's have a bit of fun first, though, like make him believe that he's really seeing two human birds harassing him." Melody blushes in embarrassment slightly.
"Sorry if I have a weird sense of humor."
Zack chuckled softly, finding the joke funny enough for a chuckle. "It's definitely interesting, Melody." He scooped out of the sky, traveling low over the roofs of buildings. Soon the moonlight was bringing his shadow directly over the Human.
Donovan stops momentarily, but doesn't think to look up. His car is mere feet away, but by using Melody's wings to reflect the moon's light into the bar's street corner, a glisten in the dark attracts Donovan's attention. But only for a second, before a woman calls to Donovan and winks to him flirtatiously. He turns away and continues to the girl.
Zack glanced around for something to throw at the woman, really, the only logical thing to do. Then he remembered the heavy bag around his shoulders. He rummaged around in it and pulled out his Enviroment 101 textbook, holding it up and aiming delicately, then flinging it down with the most of his strength. He misshot barely, but it still hit the woman in the shoulder and made her collapse.
Good enough, he thought to himself as he hastily flew over to Melody's side.
The woman lets out a yelp, holding what was now a bleeding shoulder and staring at the textbook, wondering how in hell high school had come back to haunt her. Donovan runs to her, hastily pressing his lips against hers, ignoring her muffled cry of panic and attempt to push him away. He ignores her, merely murmuring a reminder to her of the debt she was in to him. Melody spots a tear that trickles from the woman's eye, who now looks like she had only just hit the age to be allowed inside a bar. Melody's eyes are engulfed in a flash of crimson as she turns to Zack, waiting for his idea of a plan.
Zack glanced at her before he could witness any more, sighing. His idea was to keep throwing things, but he didn't think that was a good idea. Zack picked up a pebble off of the roof anyway, throwing it down as hard as he could. It bounced off of Donovan's head.
Donovan yelps, pulling away from the girl and finally looking up. He freezes, his eyes widen, he begins to tremble on the spot. Slowly backing away, he turns and breaks into a run. The girl runs in the opposite direction, and Melody turns to chase Donovan.
Zack grinned at his reaction and hared after him, tightening his wings against his body as he scooped lower below Melody, not wanting to get in her way. The image of the human's eyes widening gave him a deep sense of satisfaction. He wasn't really sure why…
Suddenly Melody grins, and Zack hears her voice inside his head.
"Don't worry, you're not alone."
Melody swerves into a flip and lands before Donovan. His eyes flicker from fear to confusion, then to annoyance.
"Melody? What the hell are you doing here-"
And then he spots Zack and snarls,
"You."
Zack landed with a skid but recovered quickly on the human's other side, Zack's smile becoming even wider. He had a feeling that he and Melody had a nice friendship running for them.
"Yeah. Me." Zack spat at him, the spit landing at his feet. "You're vile, and cruel, you know. Feeling up girls as young as her for a "debt". You're a hyprocrite and a pedophile."
Donovan snarls, laughing bitterly. "Hypocrisy does not exist in business. You must do what is needed and will bring the best results." Donovan attempts to back up, only to run into Melody. She shoves him forward, so he lands on the concrete and tears his multi thousand dollar sleeves.
"You whore!" Donovan spits at Melody, and in an act of instinct the fire from her eyes vanquishes. "You'll never be able to pay to get this mended! I'll ruin your life for this. And that." He points to what he believes to be her costume. "That's some drag get- up you have there. What, were you gonna go perform for girls too?" He laughed cruelly, his eyes wide with slight intoxication and craze.
Zack ran up quickly and kicked him with a blow of adrenaline, the snap of a nose breaking cracking through the enclosed wall of the alley. He crushed his foot into Donovan's face, angrily pressing the sole into his cheek.
"Don't call her that!" Was the last thing that was English, for Zack had totally lapse down into the angry language of Demons.
(Why am I fangirling tho lmfao).
"Shit." Donovan suddenly moves in a blur, but not towards Zack; towards the sky. A pair of faded red wings engulf the presence of his body as he thrashes upwards clumsily, but still manages to gain distance between himself and the two devils, leaving only a trail of blood raining behind him. Melody stares after him, then stares at Zack incredulously.
"Am I high, or did he just grow wings and fly?"
(Lmaooo)
Zack growled loudly up at the sky, spatting out angrily in a particularly fierce curse. "If that's the fucking case, then we'll have to kill him!" His eyes were darkening into the dark, dark gray and they seemed to match together. His wings lashed angrily and he was launched up into the air, his Magic propelling him more than momentum.
Melody races after him, screaming so Zack could hear her through the high speeds they were traveling at.
"Zack, he isn't a devil! I read his mind before he took of. He made a deal." She screamed the last part particularly loudly, knowing that anything would make more sense than what she just stated. "He's not normal, we need to interrogate him. I think… based on the amount of fear emanating from that certain location in his mind, he works for someone. Someone hell has not approved of." Melody finally manages to match Zack's speed, although it takes more effort than the experienced flier. "But he doesn't need those wings. I'm gonna dive down while you tear his wings, and I'll keep him from crash- landing. Although, I don't think anything could break that hard head of his." She seems annoyed when she finished, before nodding to Zack and dropping sharply downwards.
(Lmao *Demon
They aren't devils.)
Zack growled angrily and nodded, rising up higher into the air, his wings lashing fiercely. The plan sounded a-Okay. He actually got to inflict pain on the Human for Hell. Honestly, he quite liked Hell, and he knew he'd get rewarded graciously by the poor Demon who had this pathetic excuse of a Human under them.
Once Zack was high enough in the air, he jerked down quickly, his wings tightening as he slammed into the Human's back with all of his might, crunching his sharp teeth into the nasty-tasting joints, pressing his weight into the back of Donovan.
(Oof my bad)
Donovan let out a shrilling scream of pain, before crumpling into himself and plummeting down as dead weight. Melody caught him as he was a meter from hitting the ground, but still dropped him eight feet from the air. Donovan grunted, convulsing once before vomiting flood onto the deserted mound of grassy land they had landed on. And as Donovan curled on the ground, shuddering, Melody wrapped her fist within his collar and dragged him up.
"Where in hell did you get wings, you son of a bastard?" In response Donovan moaned, and suddenly Melody's eyes glistened. She dropped him back down and turned to Zack, who was now midway to landing.
"He's a pawn. Zack, I think something very bad is happening. I have a really, really bad feeling." Melody's cheeks trickled with tears, her heart pounding from another piece of thought she received from Donovan. It was a darkened blur, in all honesty, but the aura that emanated from his thoughts smelled strongly of dark power, anger, and vengeance. And none of it belonged to him.
Zack landed securely on his feet, still huffing angrily, prickling with adrenaline.
"There's no way we can truly know where it's coming from," The Demon growled, bending down to tug on the planted wings.
"Unless, of course, we can collect a sample of Magic." He set a foot onto the back of Donovan, and started tugging at the wings, his own lashing as if trying to help.
