"Oh…" Devon breathed, finally daring to look back up at him. "Oh. Um. Okay…"
"Oh…" Devon breathed, finally daring to look back up at him. "Oh. Um. Okay…"
Sebastian let out a quiet laugh. “We’re both so awkward and flustered— I promise I’ll be more confident tomorrow.”
Devon's smile returned slightly hesitantly, and she chuckled a little with him. "Yeah… It's been a while since I did this. I feel like everything is new all over again."
Sebastian was extremely tempted to hide his face in his hands, but he somehow managed to restrain himself. “I still can’t- I still can’t believe this is happening.”
"Gosh, I know… We've known each other for, what, three/four months?" Devon mused. "Or was it five? Honestly, I can't remember…"
(I can't wait for Devon to finally conquer her fear!)
(Same :)
“Four, I think,” he affirmed after a brief pause. “So— Yeah.”
Devon nodded slowly and glanced around for Layla Seeing her sitting in the living room, playing quietly with her new toys, she chuckled a bit. “She’s funny sometimes. She’ll be loud and bubbly, and then all of a sudden you won’t hear her for a while and you’ll start to worry that something happened to her. And all she’s doing is playing with her toys…”
Sebastian leaned against the wall, observing the little girl with an unintentionally adorable smile. “She really is something special, isn’t she?”
"Yeah, she is… My little miracle," Devon said softly, not realizing she'd said the last part out loud.
Sebastian looked over at her, smiling gently in response to her words.
Devon continued to watch her daughter play for a while before she turned back to Sebastian. "So… You said there was a good steak place somewhere?"
"Yeah, I think it's about twenty minutes by transit for your place, I don't know about driving," he responded, still smiling.
"Hm, okay. What's it called? I can look it up so I can drive there," Devon wondered, smiling back at him.
"[insert name because I'm braindead], I think. No spaces." God, she has a beautiful smile… he flushed at the thought.r
Devon nodded slowly, committing the name to memory. "Okay, got it… Did you want to hang out here for a while longer? Or did you have something you needed to do?"
(want to skip to the date?
a side note: could Devon wear the necklace he bought here? XD)
(Sure!
Oh, definitely! That'd be cute.)
(want me to go first?)
(Would you? Thinking hurts right now for some reason…)
(oof I feel you
Are you feeling okay? Or just tired?)
Sebastian growled in frustration as another gust of wind blew his curls back, ruffling the almost-perfect that had taken him over an hour to subdue and comb. He stumbled out of the way of another pedestrian, catching sight of the restaurant just past the block. It was dusk, and a calm had fallen over this section of the city, with subdued, soothing colours dominating most of the scene. But the only colour he currently wanted to see was the crystal blue of Devon's eyes– and yes, that was pathetically romantic, but true. Butterflies stirring his stomach, Sebastian crossed at an intersection, finally arriving at the meeting place of his date.
(I just kind of have a headache. It’s on and off.)
Devon wore a simple black dress that was similar in shape to the one she wore the day before. This one, though, had a gold chain belt around the waist and slightly wider skirt. She had managed to curl her hair a little, giving it some waviness and volume, and had pulled a piece back with a gold hair clip. He necklace Sebastian had given her hung around her neck, and she loved the way it looked with the outfit.
At exactly 6:30, she pulled up to the restaurant and parked. As soon as she could, she climbed out of her car and made her way to the front door, smiling whe she saw Sebastian.
(oof sorry, hope you feel better)
Sebastian had just been about to push open the door of the restaurant, when, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of blonde hair. He turned around, searching for Devon— and his heart stopped. She always looked gorgeous to him, but he'd never seen her like this– with her hair in loose curls, framing her face, and a beautiful dress that complimented her in every way. She smiled when she caught sight of him, and the whole world seemed to stop. For a moment, it was just them, in a bubble. Then, he caught sight of the necklace she was wearing and his mouth went dry.
(Thanks.)
Devon stepped up to Sebastian, still smiling. A blush has blossomed on her cheeks as she made her way forward.
“Hey. How are you?” she greeted him.
(np)
"Much better now that you're here." The words flew out of his mouth before he could stop them, though he supposed it was evident from the completely starstruck look on his face how he was feeling at the moment. "You look– You look beautiful. I mean- You're always beautiful. But–" He cut himself off, turning red when he realized how much he was rambling. "How- How are you?"
