Rhys laughed softy as well, covering his mouth with the back of his hand to keep from being too loud. He turned his head towards the direction of his friend so that it seemed he was looking at him. "I doubt I'd mind," he said with a smile. It was times like this where he sometimes wished he could see. He'd be able to see what Hideo even looked like, or what he was doing at the moment, the rustling the only indication that he was moving and the indent of the bed getting a bit closer. It was also a good way to judge people based on who they were, not what they looked like, but it'd be nice to have a few glimpses here and there.
Hideo pulled up a small fraction of the cover onto himself, leaving the rest for Rhys. He was free to decide how much of it that he wanted to steal. He yawned, softly. "There are so many stars in the sky," He mumbled, rather randomly. He closed his eyes, as the lights in his room went out. Many, many stars began to glow on his roof. Thanks to the paint, they didn't show up in the light. "And so, so many people here." He added, even more randomly. "Who knew you and I would meet, of all the eight billion people that could have."
"It's the same chance of either of us meeting anyone else," Rhys murmured, shifting so he was fully facing Hideo as he laid down, an arm curled under his head. His breath came in soft and quiet puffs, his eyes falling closed even if he continued to talk to Hideo. "But… the chances of finding someone that just… clicks… is so slim it's almost non-existent." His next words were just a whispered afterthought. "I'm glad I found that one in a billion." His hand slid over to lightly poke Hideo, a smile curling at his lips—just in case he didn't get the hint.
Hideo looked completely surprised, and he was glad that the darkness hid it. Rhys… flirted. Or at least he thought so. Hideo gently wrapped his arms around the other, and lazily murmured, "Yeah, maybe you're right." Rhys's side was comfortable, he loved it. He gently laid his head on the shoulder of the other. He hummed a little song, just a lullaby, and it seemed to calm his racing heart down.
Rhys hesitated for just a moment, not sure how to sort through the different things going on at once. Hideo was wrapped around him, head on his shoulder. His heart had picked up and gone into overdrive. His head was swirling with so many thoughts he didn't even know what he was thinking. In the end, he just let out a soft and slow breath, listening to Hideo's humming in comfortable silence as he relaxed into the other's embrace. Even with everything swirling around in his head, he was still comfortable with the boy holding onto him.
"Night, Rhys, see you in the morning. Oh, and yeah, they won't be here then, so you'll be fine." Hideo rambled, before going silent. Snores seemed to take over his sounds instantly, his whole existence resting with them. He was so happy about how the day had gone. Rhys, he met a wild Rhys. A perfect guy with an imperfection that did't matter too much. He was going to make sure the guy had a great life, he knew it, and wouldn't let anything prevent him from it.
Rhys was quiet for some time, just lying there and letting his thoughts drift wherever while his now-open eyes darted this way and that over Hideo's face. His fingers itched to reach out and map out what he couldn't see, to put a person to the voice he knew so well already. But he didn't, he wouldn't let himself. So, with a disappointed but also happy sigh, he slightly leaned into the other and whispered, "Night, Hideo," as his eyes slipped shut once more, and his vision-less dreams took him under once more. The last thing he remembered thinking was that he didn't want to wake Hideo up with any possible nightmares.
( Should we time-skip the sleep, or is one of the nightmares going to pop up? )
(I mean, one could pop up if you'd like to go through that whole scene. Bonding moment 'nd all)
( Sounds cool to me! Sure! )
Hideo slept really loudly, to say the least. It was maybe 3:15 in the morning, and the guy was loud as could be. Snores, snores, and more snores. At least he was comfortable, and happy with himself. He felt so much safer with someone else beside him, he really liked the thought of it, and he loved the experience even more.
Rhys had originally slept soundly, not bothered by Hideo's snores. No, that wasn't what ended up bothering him. Like so many times when he fell asleep, Rhys was plagued by the ever-present nightmares that just loved to torment him with their echoing cackles and fleeting fingers. Abandonment, getting lost, getting forgotten in a crowd, all of those concepts made his nose scrunch up, then the slight whimpers and pleas slip past his lips, then the unintentional untangling of himself and Hideo to toss and turn in the bed.
Hideo groaned softly, as his eyes fluttered open loosely. He couldn't really tell what was going on, or, he wasn't exactly used to what was occurring. "Rhys, Rhys," He started off, quietly as he could. He didn't want to just jolt the other into reality, but he didn't want him to keep going through whatever was in his mind. "Wake up, dude," Hideo added, with a little bit of a tired tone.
Rhys sucked in a breath, not quite awake but also not quite asleep, either. He was floating on that bridge of unconsciousness, half aware of the dreams plaguing him and of Hideo trying to wake him up. Eventually the nightmare fizzled away as he tried focusing on Hideo instead, and he could no longer hear the mocking laughs, taste the panic, feel the grappling chains. "…Hideo…" he croaked, reaching out without thinking about it and slightly panicking when he didn't hit a body.
Hideo's eyes widened as he heard his own name. He spoke louder, then, as he knew the other must have needed him. "I'm here, I'm here, Rhys. Wake up, uh, I'm here." He said, as he tried to be comforting as he could. He wrapped his arms around the other, careful not to poke him awkwardly in the darkness. "It's okay, it was all just a dream." He added, reassuringly.
Rhys instantly curled into Hideo and wrapped his arms around him, burying his face into the other's chest. He couldn't help the trembling, and he felt pathetic when he noticed it, but he didn't try to pull away and hide. For once, he woke up to someone trying to comfort him, and he wasn't stupid enough to not take advantage of that. The words don't go wanted to flee the tip of his tongue, but they simultaneously refused to. Rhys wanted to beg Hideo to stay next to him, but he's gone so long with people leaving him that he couldn't bring himself to hope for anything better.
Hideo ran a slow hand through Rhys's hair, and continued whispering the most reassuring things he could to the other. He told Rhys that it was all false, and that he was real in the moment, and so much more. Hideo knew that Rhys was probably terrified out of his mind about whatever he saw, but he knew it was his job to be here for him. He grasped Rhys a little harder, pressing himself gently to the other to steady his shaking.
Rhys remembered that he needed to breathe normally to help calm himself down. After a moment of struggle, he forced himself to draw in a slow breath through his nose, then let it out through his lips just as slowly. The hand stroking his hair, the voice whispering reassurances, the arms grasping him tightly and closely, they all worked to calm him down and remember where he was, who he was with. It took some time, but Rhys finally managed to stop shaking and calm his racing heart. However, he remained where he was against Hideo, not wanting to leave just yet.
( aww Rhys… your writing makes this seem so soft, Circe ;-;<3 )
Hideo smiled, sweetly. "You're safe with me, Rhys. I'd die before something could hurt you." Yeah, it was early to say that, and yeah they hadn't known each other that well, but books and films proved that line to be more than satisfactory. He continued with the strokes, and the grasping. He wouldn't let go until Rhys was completely calm, and completely sure of his well being.
((I try, lol. But thanks!))
Rhys heard the words, processed them, then curled up even more into Hideo and tightened his grasp around the other's waist. "I'm sorry," he whispered, keeping his eyes closed and desperately hoping that this wasn't another dream. But if it wasn't, then that meant he woke up Hideo, the last thing he had wanted to do. Hideo had better things to do than comfort an emotional wreck like Rhys in the middle of the night. He didn't cry this time, thank God. He would've been beyond embarrassed if he had cried in front of Hideo.
"Don't be sorry. I guess this is something you live with, you don't have to apologize to me for anything." Hideo objected, quietly. He actually enjoyed being this close to Rhys, though it kind-of freaked him out a little bit. He wasn't used to incredibly close contact with anybody, nonetheless a guy that he only somewhat knew. But he liked it, anyways. He bit his lower lip, silencing a thought from getting out. "It's okay, it's okay, it's okay."
"I woke you up," Rhys whispered, too tired and mentally exhausted to try and argue even further. Against his will, his eyes pried open to peer up at Hideo's face, or at least where he'd guess it'd be. The greys of his eyes were dim in the darkness, but a certain spark of gratefulness shone through the shadows. Pressed this close to Hideo, he didn't know what to think. Only now that his head wasn't full of nightmares, he could register it and feel slightly embarrassed that he had clung to the other guy so desperately. His grip loosened from around Hideo's waist, and one hand slid down, but stopped and clung to the fabric of the other's shirt. Not yet. He couldn't pull away just yet.
"Yeah, so? It's the dead middle of the night and I haven't been awake at this time before. You basically helped me experience something new. I wonder what else you have in store for me." Hideo said, sweetly. His words were sugary, much too sweet. Hideo took his hands out of Rhys's hair and moved them to the other's back, as he leaned his head on his shoulder. "You're really too kind, you know. Just know I want to be here for you."
Rhys didn't know how much he loved having his hair touched and played with until Hideo's touch was moved. He didn't say anything, nor did he say anything when he felt the other's head on his shoulder. So close. They were so close. Rhys' breath felt too thick, too heavy in his throat. He breathed through his barely parted lips, trying to not let the banging in his chest be noticed by Hideo. The guy had stroked his hair a few times by now, so maybe he could let himself give into the desire to 'see' Hideo, at least partially. Hesitantly, Rhys curled his arms up towards Hideo's shoulders and let the fingers of one hand cautiously feel the texture of his hair. "I try," he murmured when he remembered to answer Hideo's words.
Hideo's heart stopped at Rhy's touch. His mind raced through thoughts, as his cheeks warmed up a little, but it was completely okay. He remained silent, as he wondered what Rhys would do next. His curiosity of the other would kill him, he knew that very well. He leaned his head into Rhys's single touch, a small sign that it was okay. He liked being this close to the other, though it was rather soon. Rhys was truly the eighth wonder of the world.
Rhys was well aware that this level of intimacy between the two of them was definitely too soon, considering how they just met. This didn't succeed in deterring him, however. He combed his fingers through Hideo's hair, feeling the strands slip through them, then brought his hand down to the side of the other's face. His touch was barely-there as he brushed the tips of his fingers over Hideo's cheek. "I'm sorry," Rhys whispered, then continued to explain himself, "I just–I rely on touch, and I–I really want to see you." He sealed his lips shut, then flicked his tongue out to wet them. "Can I…?" he asked, voice dropping to an even quieter and softer tone.
