(Alright, np)
Lumi kept moving as quickly as they could while towing Koa along. He really wanted to try and protect his friend; after all, Koa wasn't used to this kind of thing. They looked over their shoulder and quickly pushed Koa to the right, catching a bullet to the shoulder in the process. He hissed in pain, but pushed onward, trying to go even faster than before. Finally, after what seemed like ages, the gunfire stopped and Lumi and Koa had made it back to the apartment. Lumi fell onto their front steps, panting and gasping for breath. "K-Koa… are you… are you okay…?" He asked weakly, gripping his bleeding shoulder with his free hand.
Koa nodded, still in shock due to the events of the past few minutes. "I-I'm sorry. I should've…I should've stayed home. I'm fine." Koa grabbed the medical pack, clicked it open, and handed Lumi some bandages, as he moved a box in front of the door as a barricade. "Apply those..if bleeding gets worse, or a sign of an infection shows up, I'll call an ambulance. Just..stay calm, okay?" Koa didn't care much about his broken horn, this had happened once before. It would grow back within a few months. He sat on the couch, hands shaking. "Are they following us?"
"Don't be sorry… it's… it's not your fault." Lumi's blood dripped onto the floor as they held out their hand to take the bandages. He firmly wrapped them around his shoulder, applying as much pressure as he could to stop the bleeding. "There's… t-there's two wounds. That's good. That means I don't have… to take out a bullet…" They explained breathlessly, still panting and trembling a bit. "I'll be fine. I'll take… I'll just take some pain meds and I'll be alright, yeah? Might just be kinda sore for a bit. Should heal itself up without too much trouble… you're sure you're okay?"
Koa grabbed another pack of bandages and began wrapping it around what was left of his horn. "I think I'm fine, just…rest up. Sleep is the best thing you can get right now." Koa grabbed Lumi's phone, and handed it to him. "If things get worse, call me. I have to go out for a bit…for some…personal business. Koa also handed the remainder of the antibacterial medication to them. "Use this, if it doesn't hurt too bad later." And, as fast as he was in, he was out, to wherever he needed to get so badly.
(I should be responding pretty regularly for the rest of the night, nothing should be going on IRL)
(Alright! I'll probably be kinda spotty since I'm at work rn ^^;)
"Alright… I'll tell you if it gets worse." Lumi sighed softly. He didn't think he needed to go to the hospital. They hoped not, at least. They hated the hospital, not to mention that he couldn't afford those bills. "You won't be gone long, will you— ah… he's already gone…" They fidgeted with the medication for a minute before getting to his feet to go and fetch some pain meds to tide him over for now. Hopefully he'll come back soon…
Koa walked across the sidewalk, holding his blood-stained jacket. Oh my god, I look like I just killed someone…hopefully no one's watching.. Slowly, he turned into an alleyway, then across to another side of the apartment complex. He knocked on a door, The Art Shoppe. "H-hey, it's Koa." On the other side of the door, a short man with red, snakelike eyes was running a business. As he opened the door, he chuckled. "I'm pretty sure you're the only artist that actually comes this time of night. Ha, anyway, what'dya need, buddy?" Koa paused for a moment. "A-a pack of pencils, a sketchbook, a healing spell, and a hedgehog spirit." Magic was illegal…too risky, too dangerous. At least that's what the government said. Koa didn't really believe that, so, he bought magic illegally. In fact, earlier, him and Lumi had delivered some sort of magic. Koa could tell based off energy. Of course, he hadn't told Lumi, about what they were delivering or Koa's connections with the magic realm…but now, Koa thought he could safely let the cat out of the bag.
Lumi sat alone on the couch after taking some medication, staring blankly at the wall and hoping that the pain would fade soon. He grimaced a bit whenever he moved, their shoulder throbbing horribly from the hole through it. They figured that they should probably shower to clean it (and himself; he could feel gunpowder and other grime clinging to his skin) and then wrap it up again with the antibiotics Koa had given him. Nodding once in a decisive manner, they got to their feet, winced, and headed off to shower.
He was in the shower for a little longer than usual, but not any excessive amount of time. It was a bit surreal watching their own blood trickling down the drain, diluted with water. He shook his head, dried himself, and put on the antibiotics before bandaging their arm and sitting back on the couch to wait for Koa.
Koa ran into the building, one of his hands was practically glowing while the other held a hedgehog. He sat beside Lumi, trying to hold back telling everything. "I got you a hedgehog, first of all, he's a spirit, so you don't have to worry about the quills. Secondly, I got some magic. Not anything dangerous, just a healing spell. It should help the bullet wound. Now, this is my second spell, ever. So I couldn't get anything very strong. Just something to prevent infection." Koa handed Lumi the hedgehog, who had already decided to cuddle up right underneath their wound. "Oh, it seems he likes you. That's nice."
Lumi listened tiredly as Koa explained, clearly a bit out of it from pain and blood loss. Their hair was still somewhat damp from showering, and he was starting to bleed through his bandages. They were clearly taken aback by a hedgehog huddling up by their wound, but soon settled down again to make the magic process easier for his friend. "Uh… okay… what exactly do you need me to do…?" He asked, their speech somewhat slurred. "And what's the hedgehog for?"
Oh shit, oh shit, he's gonna die, he's gonna die Koa began talking very quickly, trying not to waste any precious time. "Well, I got the hedgehog because it's cute, and all I need you to do it sit still. Don't move your arm." Koa began preparing the spell, reciting the poem of healing over and over in his head. Slowly, Koa began to rise. Was this apart of the spell? This…was a basic healing spell, right? Suddenly, vines shot out of the ground and began crawling toward Lumi. This…certainly wasn't a part of the spell. Koa tried to signal to Lumi that this wasn't normal, but found that he couldn't move. He was just…suspended in the air. As the vines crept toward Lumi, Koa began to panic. Then, a huge explosion of light, and then dark.
(So uh Lumi's healed and now Koa is like asleep or something idk)
(Sounds good ssfghj)
Lumi was a bit wary of the idea of magic, but did his best to keep still regardless. Their heart started to race at the sight of the vines creeping towards them and suspending Koa in the air, and he screwed his eyes shut, preparing for the vines to hurt them somehow. But… he felt nothing. Just a loud noise, very bright lights, and then silence. Their arm didn't hurt anymore, either. He tentatively opened his eyes, first gingerly touching their wound and then looking over, noticing that Koa was unconscious. "Ah…? Koa? Are you… are you okay…?" He asked weakly.
Koa was alive, but still didn't move. The hedgehog then began to sniff the ground, and walking, like it was following a trail. It walked over to the apartment door, looking at Lumi, inviting him to follow. It's quills stood up without order, right, left, up, down, Like some outside force was at play.
Lumi knelt down beside Koa to make sure he was stable, and once they were confident he was okay, they hesitantly followed the little hedgehog over to the apartment door. "What are you trying to tell me, huh? What's up with you, anyway? 'Spirit hedgehog', are you dead?"
(Jeez, I'm so sorry I've fallen into a storytelling craze and forgot about this.)
The hedgehog shook it's head. "No, no, no, I'm yet to be born, Lumine." With no further explanation, the hedgehog continued across the dark night, walking between alleyways, until finding a singular door. The art shoppe. The hedgehog rang the doorbell, and disappeared.
Then the door opened. A short, middle aged man with red eyes appeared. "Hello, what may you be looking for?"
"Horrifying answer, thanks. How do you know my name?" Lumi asked suspiciously. I guess it's weird that it can talk too, huh. Regardless, they continued to follow the hedgehog to the door, clearly startled when it rung the doorbell and a man appeared. Lumi stared at him, wide-eyed and absolutely bewildered. "I-I… uh… I dunno? The… the hedgehog brought me here…?"
The man froze for a second, before continuing. "Oh, was that a gift for you? I actually gave Koa the hedgehog. Do you want a spell? I sell spells at unbeatable prices." The man handed Lumi a scroll. "Here, buddy, this one's on the house."
"Uh… yeah, it was a gift for me, I think? Not sure why the hedgehog brought me here… um…" Lumi was clearly flustered and unsure what to do. He took the scroll, only growing more confused. "A spell? O-Oh, um… I don't really do magic… you know Koa? He used some spell to heal me and then he passed out or something… does whatever is in this scroll fix him?"
