Hazel wasn't very well in shape, but she didn't care how much her legs were burning. Her lungs hurt from breathing through her mouth instead of a paced breathing cycle. Of course, despite it all, her foot caught a protruding root and she tripped. Hearing footsteps near her caused Hazel to curl in on herself again. She couldn't trust anyone but herself. No one ever really wanted to "help." Either that or they just couldn't. Wouldn't?

Farran caught up the the girl, finding her curled into a ball on the ground. He bent down, trying not to sound like he was struggling for breath. "Hey." He took a minute to take deep breaths, his attempts not working perfectly. "Sorry…Hey. I know that you're struggling. I'm not going to pretend to know what you're going through, because I don't. But I want to help."
(That's okay! I've kinda been inactive all day too ahaha)
Hazel tried to make herself smaller. She didn't like how close Farran was. She always got so paranoid that she would get hurt. Instead of looking up at the boy before her, the girl focused on hiding her arms. They were covered in her long sleeves, but she didn't want the stranger to see. He would ask, and she couldn't run again…
"Why? Why would you want to help for?" she asked again.
