@Knick
We are in many RPs together but you said you found this concept interesting so here it is. No template for this one - I think I already went over with it so I’ll work on a starter as soon as you give me the ok
Prior warning to any stalkers; there will be violence and blood of the such in this RP. Nothing site unfriendly (if it were to get to that point, we’d probably take it to PMs but that prob won’t happen.)
Run. Run. Run.
Run little rabbit.
Telu was not hunting rabbits. They were hunting people. Emphasis on were, standing over the fresh corpse. Their form was not of any human resemblance aside from maybe having two arms and two legs, standing slightly upright - but that was it. Feeding had commenced, and feeding had passed.
“I may have overdid it,” Telu commented after some time, to themselves. They’d killed three. They needed less than one body. Oh well. You couldn’t leave witnesses, couldn’t you? Telu reverted back into their original form. An original form that wasn’t so different from attack mode/defense mode/feeding form. Their skin was hidden in the dark of the night as they retreated back to home - an abandoned, single floor building. They didn’t know what this building was, they didn’t care. All they cared is that it wasn’t in use and the perfect place for them to remain hidden.
If their skin were to have been seen, one could almost state they had no skin. Putting it simply, their features were quite gritty to witness in broad daylight. However, their skin was extremely tough - or soft, depending on the situation. Jaw hanging open, needle like teeth revealed, Telu crawled through the window of the place, sniffing the air for a moment. No one had been here in the time they were absent.
That was good.
The proportions of Telu were almost uncanny valley, with long arms and longer legs, a frail but powerful body. And their jaws - opened vertically, taking up almost the entire head. They could close, yes - but typically, Telu left them open. Telu also could switch to a more human form…but no, that took too much energy. Too much work. Only in emergencies.
Telu did not sleep like most creatures. Instead, they entered into a dormant state, vitals lowered, completely still. They would awaken if they sensed danger - but it was an effective state, often giving them the appearance of a statue. They could do it for as long as needed.
As usual, hunting. Rarely did Sobek get to shoot any of the aliens. The Wielders, as they were named. The others did it first, typically. And boy, they were loud about their achievements.
Tonight though?
Glaring up at the moon, tonight might be different. He was in a smaller group. Split up to take down the Wielder that was in this area, supposedly. Apparently it was a rather unique specimen, too. He didn’t understand what that meant, only that it probably had all the same weaknesses as any Wielder. Which meant a good spray with the rifle would kill it.
Probably.
Sobek was pretty self doubting, a feature he tried to suppress. Even out in the night, the cool forest..the thought lingered in mind, what if he dies here, what if he dies tonight.
That would be bad. So let’s avoid dying, alright Sobek?
Well, that was fast.
Telu stiffened, that sense again. That sixth sense. The sense of danger.
They heightened their senses, immediately upon exiting the dormant state. Footsteps. Not in a rush or anything, but there seemed to be several, one closer than the rest. And it was on a track for Telu’s house.
Lowering themselves, Telu climbed up the wall, using the darkness to conceal themselves, and retire to the ceiling. They waited. Maybe the person would go by. Maybe not.
If it ended in fire or ice, Telu would be ready. Although, they’d prefer no fighting for tonight.
Sobek heard in his ear, on the radio.
Found three bodies. One appears to have been fed upon recently. Keep your guard up.
So the thing had fed recently. That meant it was probably at full energy. But what he was wearing could hold against a few attacks..generally. But with that thing at full energy, it could keep fighting for extended periods of times, and Sobek was still human. Humans tire.
He comes across a building after some time, highlighted by his gear. That seemed worth investigating. It seemed oddly silent. Too silent. And something Sobeck felt..fear? No. He shook it off. He would not be afraid.
He enters the building, pushing open the door and checks all corners of the room. Nothing. He enters, and begins to scan the enter floor.
Telu sniffs, and there it is. That scent again too close for comfort this time. They’re almost ready to bolt, muscles tense. But they’re a creature, the epitome of a predatory creature. An example of perfection designed by Mother Nature. Even if there was nothing natural about Telu’s species.
They crawl alongside the walls, keeping their long tail curled and near the ceiling. Better night vision allows them to pick up movement, and as a reflex, Telu goes deathly still.
Sobek ignores the chill on the back of his neck. As he walks; unknowingly; right by Telu, he glances out through the broken window.
“Area clear.” His voice comes out monotone and robotic through his gear, even more so through the radio. He hears only a brief confirmation that he was heard.
Still, Sobek stares outside at the moon. It’s rather captivating.
Telu crawls forwards, carefully jumping from the ceiling. Their impact is nearly silent. One could say it almost looks like something from a monster horror movie. Which..isn’t too far from the truth. Minus the movie.
They slink forwards, walking on their hind legs although not completely upright. And when they’re close enough..they launch their attack. A quick pierce to the back of the neck, a bit below it. Like at the base of the neck, with their tail. Usually does it.
Sobek flinches upon feeling the sharp clang against his armoured neck. And immediately, he spins around, rifle in hand. Firing openly at whoever was dumb enough to try and attack him.
A brief, wait what? flashes in their mind as their strike is deflected. They’ve never dealt with a human like this before.
And upon the spinning around, Telu realizes that the man is prepared to counterattack. Bullets barely affect them but they do get a sting from it as they shriek and flee into the darkness.
Sobek stops firing as he sees the thing flee away, and he realizes, catching sight of it. A Wielder, engaging him in the so called empty house.
He thinks to call it on the radio but doesn’t as he engages night vision, quite clearly seeing something scramble off into the darkness. So silent, he could hear a pin drop.
But he loses sight of it. Did his attack hit? Was the creature affected?
Switch to armour piercing rounds. A voice in mind says. A reminder.
Sobek does just that while he’s given the time.
The bullets fall from their skin with a clink, briefly identifying their current location. Within seconds, their healing factor kicks in. It’s not instant, and the affected area will be weaker for a few more hours, but at least two days after this fight is over, Telu will be good as new.
They lunge forwards from the darkness right into the face of the being that deflected their attacks. If they succeeded, they’d open up their jaws and attempt to clamp down onto the human.
Sobek hears the clinks barely just in time as they launch from the shadows. Throwing his arms out and risking the fact of dropping his rifle; he meets to counter the creature and hold it back from his face. He tenses up, ducking away from the reaches of its jaws.
“Let me..” Telu barks out in a scratchy, neutral voice. “..Get closer!” They give up after a few seconds, striking out at his chest with their claws.
Sobek stiffens upon hearing the voice. They can speak? Sobek wasn’t interested in conversation, though. He kicks out at the being upon feeling their claws scrape against his armour. Damage he’d need to inspect later. Notice later.
A kick lands on Telu’s head as they stumble back, dazed. Even if just for a brief few seconds, it’s clear they’re trying to recover to retreat. Leave, abandon, whatever. Telu realizes it’s not quite worth it.
Sobek wastes no time in picking up his rifle and firing again. The spray doesn’t last long, though; probably because he’d dropped it on the ground moments earlier.
He just hopes its enough.
The different bullets - the armour piercing ones see effectiveness immediately. And Telu, too dazed to move out of the way takes the brunt of it. If they were a machine, you’d bet they’d be getting a lot of alerts right now.
Gonna die. Gonna die. Won’t die!
Too injured to flee, too injured to attack. The barrage has stopped, and Telu sees an opening. They’ve never preformed this action before, yet it remains within their mind. Almost as if it were coded into their very being. They push forwards and pry the human’s arm towards their face, keeping a firm hold.
They then bite, clamping both sides of their jaws on the arm. It’s not a bite meant to break the arm - just to keep it in place, while they inject a little something into the arm. Telu feels themselves slipping away.
Sobek feels it, he’s gonna win this fight. He’s gonna kill a Wielder at last.
And then it bites him.
His armour should be enough to protect him, right? So why does he feel this coolness slipping in..numbness? Sobek yelps, attempting to pry the alien’s jaws open and off.
(Which arm is it)
((Right))
Telu’s work is done as they pull themselves away. Only stumbling a few feet away, they collapse, and right away their very structure seems to crumble into stone, soon to be dust on the ground.
However, that was not Telu on the ground. The real Telu was now in the arm of the very being that tried to kill it.
Taking a parting gift literally. Although debatable as a gift to both parties, Telu came to that realization right away. They couldn’t control the entire being as they’d hoped. Only the arm. The human would not be able to control his hand as it seemed to spasm for a few seconds, then stopping, going deathly still.
(I just realized this RP is essentially on thin ice for the ‘don’t control the other person’s character’ rule that a lot of RPs have)
Sobek knows what Wielders do when they die, and this one looks to be dead-dead.
It’s only when he loses control of his own hand does he stiffen, attempting to hold it still with his other hand. But it’s still numb.
And then it stops moving. He still can’t control his hand, but at least it’s not freaking out…arguably that was worse. Was he infected or something? Did the Wielder possibly cause permanent damage to him, therefore making him amputate his hand in the future?
He stands in the unnerving silence.
((I know, I was thinking about that too))
Established. Established hold.
What does Telu do at that point? They were, as far as they knew, linked to this being that was far less adaptive than themselves. They’ve established their hold…
Time to establish their control.
The human would hear a voice, neither masculine nor feminine, although if you had to choose one, probably feminine. The voice would be even in volume, yet spoke in a tone hard to describe.
“Hello.”
