Qûs'ÿltn nods. "So you understand now?"
Qûs'ÿltn nods. "So you understand now?"
Farah leaned against the wall and nodded. "I think I've always understood, I just never wanted to acknowledge it."
Qûs'ÿltn grins. "Okay. Now, we can start the painful process of changeing your mindset."
Farah rolled her eyes. "There's only one person who can do that, and he has no idea where I am."
"Oh, no. I mean changing the way you view yourself and your past." Qûs'ÿltn retorts.
"I know," Farah countered. "And I'm telling you, only one person can do that."
Qûs'ÿltn looks confused. "You mean to tell me you need to go see him right now? You haven't even released the magic yet. What if it just goes when you're in the city?"
"Then I'll do it out here," Farah said, reaching for another potion vial and swallowing it in one gulp again.
Qûs'ÿltn nods. "Let's do it then."
He walks out of the cottage, leading her some leagues away from anywhere with anything that even resembled life.
"This should be safe." he mutters.
"Not in the barrier," Farah said, heading towards the edge of the grove. "I'm not risking the potential of destroying my house."
(Lol, I meant that he leads Farah away from the barrier and cottage. Sorry if that wasn't clear.)
(Ah, okay! My bad.)
Farah took a deep breath and looked at her hands where she felt the magic pooling beneath her fingertips. "What if something terrible happens?" she asked quietly.
(You're good, lol! It happens sometimes.)
Qûs'ÿltn smiles gently. "Why do you think we're all the way out here?"
Farah sighed deeply. "I have no idea what will happen… what if I nuke my magic entirely?"
"Then I suppose we won't have to worry ever again, now will we?" Qûs'ÿltn snarks.
Farah narrowed her eyes briefly. "You think you're funny?"
"I am my own target audience. So, yes." Qûs'ÿltn laughs.
"Now get on with it. We're not getting any better looking the longer we stand here, you know." he says.
"Speak for yourself," Farah muttered, closing her eyes and bringing her magic to the surface.
Qûs'ÿltn grins but stays quiet, letting Farah concentrate.
Farah took a deep breath and released. A wall of water shot up around her, and she curled her fingers into fists. Fire curled in the air above the water, and the wind snapped violently around her, but Farah was left unharmed. Around her ankles, an abundance of daisies grew, and finally, a blinding light surrounded her.
Qûs'ÿltn squints slightly, to protect his eyes, but cheers. "Nice!"
Suddenly, everything disappeared at once, leaving Farah standing and looking refreshed. She was panting from exertion and looked at him. "Oh gods," she whispered. "I did it…"
Qûs'ÿltn grins. "Yes you did. And look! You didn't nuke us. See what I was saying?"
Farah smiled briefly before she walked over and approached him. Unlike before, her steps were strong and swift and sure. "Thank you," she murmured genuinely.
Qûs'ÿltn smiles softly. "You're welcome. Now, let's go see him."
