Having Lily there was predictably a huge boost to her excitement. Carsyn fluttered her hands in a vague gesture of 'go ahead' even while Lily was already walking to the bathroom to change. She positioned herself in a way that let the other girl see her while also giving her the room to move out of her direct line of sight into the bathroom, should Lily request full privacy, and smiled at the line of questions. With a few pats of confirmation on her luggage, Carsyn nodded in response to the question about being excited, a wide grin on her face. It only grew even more at the mention of animals, and she clasped her hands together and pressed them to her smiling lips, practically vibrating with excitement. She couldn't wait to meet Lily's family, and nor could she wait for their reaction to them finally seeing her daughter—and her royal fiancé.

Lily, fully aware that she was kind of repeating herself and very uncaring, continued. "Gosh, they're going to love you. Is it strange, that I'm almost more excited for them to meet you than I am Rhydar? On the one hand, he's, you know, my fiancé." She said, finishing what she could with getting dressed. With only the lacing on the back of her shirt left, she excitedly scooped up the little wrapped bundle on the countertop of the bathroom, spinning around and nearly skipping out into the room. "But on the other, you've come to mean so much to me as well, and I just can't shake the Knowing." The Knowing, as her family had referred to it when she was a kid, meant something like a sixth sense. An intense feeling of prediction, of knowing something you had no real reason to know. "Something special is going to come of this. Anyway! Do you mind if I mess with your hair? I have a surprise!"

Carsyn held a hand over her mouth as she laughed, shoulders shaking and eyes squinting. Lily and Rhydar had both become incredibly important friends to her. Rhydar had shown her that even royals could stoop low enough to help out a lowly and mute serving girl and show unconditional kindness. Lily had become a best friend and sister that she never thought she'd be blessed enough to have. Carsyn lowered her hand, exposing her bright smile, and nodded her head to Lily. She drifted over to the bed and sat down, leaving room for Lily to join her for the surprise that she had.

The mention of the Knowing had her heart kicking up with excitement. Throughout all of her ramblings of her family, Lily had briefly mentioned what the Knowing was among all the women of the house. If she felt that something good would come from Carsyn meeting her family, she couldn't wait until the time came.

Lily practically skipped out into the room, gently 'throwing' herself onto the bed behind Carsyn. She pulled a handful of bobby pins from her pocket, showing them to Carsyn. "I'm thinking, incredibly complicated up-do. Wolf showed me this really nice one, and it'll work perfectly with the surprise. Plus, it never hurts to look really dressed up for no reason." Kora had told her that, once, and she'd fallen in love with the saying. Though she tended to be more low maintenance, opting for more casual styles, she did occasionally find herself taking the advice. It was always fun to do.

With Carsyn's approval, she set to work, carefully twisting bits of hair and inserting pins. She was glad to have though to brought ribbon, as the light blue of the little ribbon bits–even though the ribbons weren't there for any reason other than looking nice–was perfect. By the end, she had made a loose braid that seemed to wrap itself around another, smaller and more tight braid, with two ribbons tied to segment it. Where a third might have gone, she instead left the spot bare, handing the small bundle concealing the surprise to Carsyn.

"I want you to open it first, that way you really get to see it. Then I can put it on your hair."

At the mention of the youngest prince, Carsyn's lips stretched into a smile. She couldn't forget how kind he was to her, how he had made an effort to break the boundaries separating royal and servant. Rhydar had done the same, but with all eyes and ears on the Crown Prince, he couldn't do as much as he wished. She wasn't upset with him—she could never blame him for trying, not when so many people actively made an effort to fortify that boundary. But Wulfric… he had been the one to befriend her alongside Lily, to show a kindness she never expected to receive from a person of his social standing.

And knowing his talent for hairstyling, as well as Koralia's penchant for flair, she knew she was in for a treat at Lily's words.

Carsyn hummed happily as Lily worked, falling into one of the songs the girl had taught her without really thinking about it. The beautiful song, though without words, fell into a smooth silence as a bundle was handed to her. Oh hello, she silently greeted, the thought bringing a smile to her lips. Delicate hands happily accepted the bundle and picked at the wrapping. Opening presents quickly, Carsyn always thought, dulled the building excitement.

And excited she was when her eyes beheld the gorgeous ornament in her hands. A brilliant grin stretched across her face, and she reached behind to find and squeeze Lily's knee in gratitude. Thank you so much, she wanted to say. It's beautiful.

Lily beamed at the notable excitement in Carsyn's posture. When the girl reached back to squeeze her knee, Lily took her hand, returning the squeeze. "You needed your own flower, of course. Just because your name has no plant relation doesn't mean you get to miss out on that bit. And as I'm claiming you to be my sister, I figured you deserved one. Forget-me-nots, gifting them is supposed to show your admiration and love for someone, as well as respect. I believe its meant to be romantic, but plants are fickle things, and romance is far from their minds. It means," She continued, placing her chin on Carsyn's shoulder. "That I will never forget you."

The blush that bloomed over her cheeks couldn't even begin to compare to the wash of emotion that crashed through her. It felt like a tsunami of happiness, enough to bring silent tears to her eyes. Carsyn covered her mouth with her free hand, even if she made no noise, and squeezed Lily's hand back just a tad harder than before. Leaning her head against Lily's, she closed her eyes and lowered her hand to reveal a happy smile. Never. Never had she felt so loved and wanted before—as more than just a simple slave. Lily never failed to show her unconditional and unending love, and Carsyn constantly found herself getting hit by the impact of that showered affection.

'Thank you,' she mouthed, opening her eyes to look at her self-declared sister.

"Always. Though I warn you now, family doesn't need to thank each other. Not mine, at least." Lily said, her voice soft and almost trembling with happiness. To her, Carsyn deserved the world. She had suffered a similar, if possibly worse, lot than Lily, who wanted to do everything she could to make sure that Carsyn knew there were people in the world who would never hurt her. "My mother will tell you that a thousand times over. Family helps and expects nothing in return, because it will always come back anyway. She loves proverbs. You'll be swimming in them a few days in. Or worse, embroidering them on pillows." She joked, leaning in to kiss Carsyn's cheek.

"Do you want to wear it? You seem to like it, unless you're just really trying to hide the fact that you hate it."

@ElderGod-kirky group

Reassurances like that meant the world to Carsyn, and she didn't know if Lily knew just how much her words could mean to the former servant. Having living a life full of hate, abuse, and ridicule, she had convinced herself that she would never earn any sort of kind word from anyone. But then she had been sold to the royal family, and Wulfric had paid attention to her. And with him came Lily, the common girl that had so obviously enraptured the Crown Prince and stole his heart from beady-eyed noblewomen.

And with Lily, came a sisterhood she would cherish forever.

Carsyn wiped at the few happy tears that had slid down her cheeks, then grinned and nodded excitedly. Yes, she loved the beautiful hairpiece. If she could, she'd wear it every day. The message behind it, the gorgeous design, and the beautiful flowers—-no way she could hate this gift.

@croccin-champagne

"Oh, lovely." Lily said, her eyes an ever changing mess of light colors, of happy colors. "Let me pop it in for you, then?" She offered, beaming at Carsyn's excitement. In general, Lily was a good gift giver, always managing to pinpoint exactly the kind of thing someone needed to receive. But she'd been just a bit nervous about this, worried somehow that it could be taken wrong, or go wrong. But it hadn't. Of course it hadn't. Carsyn always seemed to know what she was thinking, picked up on the meaning behind everything she did and the importance it had. "We'll get you all set as the most stunning sort of tourist around."

@ElderGod-kirky group

Her shoulders shook with laughter, minute noises escaping her unused vocal cords. That's another thing. With Lily, Carsyn found herself laughing more, a noise she hadn't heard herself make in forever. And though she had no tongue, couldn't talk, and could barely read and write, Lily had always done her best to understand what she wanted. It almost felt like a superpower. So as she waited while Lily put the comb in her hair, her own fingers messing with her clothing, she smiled and wondered how the rest of the Song family would take to her.
