(bit short-)
Lincoln smiled. He couldn't help it. The kid seemed to have no care in the world. Even though there was an apocalypse out there, The kid didn't seem to have a care in the world. This was good. Lincoln wished he was like that. Though even he seemed to be having some fun, snacking on the peaches he had brought out.
"Having fun, are ya?" Lincoln said quietly. "Because it's nice to just sit back for a change." Lincoln yawned. He had a long day but it ended on good note. I'll probably head back to my base tomorrow morning… Lincoln thought, a little sad. He had finely had a chance to forget about the world and he felt bad for leaving DJ but he didn't know what else to do.
(It’s ok! ^^)
DJ nodded happily. “Yeah. I think we both needed this.” He looks at Lincoln, his eyes shining. “Thanks for keeping me company. And not shooting me.” He laughs, looking back at the movie. After the food was done, and the movie ending, Diego sighed and wrapped himself up in a fluffy blanket. He really wanted to bring out his stuffed animal…but…what if the older boy saw him as weak after it? DJ thought for a moment, then huffed. Who gave a shit anyway?
Diego digs in his bag and pulls out a stuffed bear with stitched parts here and there, replaced leg, and missing arm. He hugged the bear tight as he dug around and placed the dvd batteries into a battery powered game boy. He started playing a few games as he laid down half on the mattress and half on the floor. He definitely needed to cherish this moment. Find comfort in the company…
After a moment of silence, DJ looked up at Lincoln. “Hey..uh…could we maybe…team up?” It felt stupid to ask…but he needed the extra support. Really bad. “I promise I don’t drag you down. I’m a real fast runner and really athletic.” Now the boy sounded almost…desperate. Begging for that companionship he hadn’t had in months.
As Lincoln put the hood of his hoodie up, he yawned. He took the now empty can of peaches and put it inside of his bag. "Yeah, As long as you're not a zombie," Lincoln looked over at DJ with an awkward smile, "I would never shoot." Lincoln took out a small pillow that had been stuffed in one of the compartments of his bag. He leaned on the wall, next to the kid and slowly slid down to a sitting position. He looked over to DJ again, noticing the teddy bear that he was holding. "You got one for me?" He said, only half joking.
Lincoln placed the pillow behind his back and leaned on it. When He heard the offer that DJ had gave him, he couldn't help but not think of a reason why he shouldn't accept it. It was good compony and DJ seemed to keep Lincoln calmer than he usually was. Though He thought that it was mainly because they weren't in the open anymore, he still knew that with the kid, he was much more calmer. "Sure kid… If you can really keep up that is." He yawned. He turned to DJ. "Now, If you're feeling alright In the morning, we'll head out. Gather your thing then. Now we need to rest." There was a calm silence in the room for a moment. "Alright?"
DJ gasped and quickly nodded, a big smile on his face. He had already been giggling at Lincoln’s remark, but now, the boy beamed with pure happiness. A childlike joy spread across the boys face that could only be possessed by the most pure soul. “I can keep up! I was the fastest in my track team, and the best at parkour! I also took karate during the summer, and played basketball and football!” He laughs. “You’d have to keep up with me!”
Diego hugs his bear tighter, “I promise. I’ll help out tons! You wont regret letting me hang around!” He squeaks and starts packing up all his stuff. Supplies and all. “You should put the rest of this stuff in your bag. So no resources get left behind.”
