Jacob quickly bent over and helped her up. "I know you said that. I… I won't pry." He handed her crutches back to her after she was standing again, and then went back to walking along with her. "Do you guys get what you need? I mean, do you get enough?"

"We get what we can. You officers get special privileges, but we make do with what we're given. Her birthday is next week so I've been trying to save up on milk eggs and sugar to make sure I have enough for a good cake." She nodded. "And I may have enough money for a present or two. If I'm lucky."

"She likes dogs a lot. And the color purple and red. And sugar,of course. And hot cocoa." She smiled. "Hot cocoa is a luxury we can't afford anymore I'm afraid." She sighed a bit as they all walked into the store, and Charlie grabbed a cart, then wheeled it off towards where the milk and eggs were.

She began to grab the basics. Cheese, milk, eggs. Whatever she could. "I promise officer. I can take care of myself. I have too." She continued on, noticing a few other guards looking and pointing at you. Rain paid it no mind and kept the children busy getting groceries for her. (they're curious about why he's hanging with non-suspicious pedestrians if you're wondering my plan.)

(Oh oh…)

Jacob ignored the guards, continuing to walk with Rain and the others. "Alright, I suppose… But I won't hesitate to help, just know that." He speaks to her in more of a quiet tone now. If he was caught doing this he would be sought out as a spy, even if that wasn't his intention.

Rain noticed the other guards watching her with a careful eye and she stayed silent as Charlie plopped some groceries into the cart. "Wait…where's Alice?" Rain looked around, suddenly noticing that little Allison was gone. Charlie looked behind him. "I'll go look for you Rain." "Thank you Charlie." She headed down the next aisle and hoped that she wouldn't be followed. "Thank you Jacob." Was all she said as she grabbed a few boxes of mac and cheese, and other easy to cook dinners.

Jacob nodded some. He soon kept feeling eyes burning into his back though, and he turned to see the guards still staring at him. "Hey, I'll be right back." He says to Rain, before walking off toward them. "Hey guys. Something wrong? You seem to be taking quite an interest in me today."

(I have no idea how to do the officers. So uh. Have fun) Rain watched him go and went back to pushing the cart and keeping an eye on the rowdy kids, including grabbing Alice her lollipop, which was a risk. She didn't have a lot of extra money, but with she did promise. So she let her pick one out, and bagged it all.

"Yes, something is wrong." One of the officers replied. "Why are you showing such interest in french woman?" The other replied, crossing his arms. Jacob shrugged. "Just tryin' to be a friendly officer." The first one scoffed. "Officer are meant to enforce laws, not mingle." Jacob rolled his eyes, sighing. "Whatever." He then walked off. "We'll be watching you Jacob!" The other shouted after him.

(aha jacobs screwed) Rain heard the shout and made sure not to look back as her little sister did, but Rain was quick to grab her arm and just hurry the three out the door. "Let's just get home and put away the groceries. Then maybe Charlie can stay for a little while and you two can play, taking a break from your studies." Alice just sucked on her lollipop and Charlie nodded and they all left silently.

"The guards. We know when there's trouble. If we stuck around we could've been shot." She said simply. "Trying to keep everyone safe, since I trust you are capable of taking care of yourself." She shrugged as she switched hands with her grocery bags, having a long walk home.

Jacob noticed this, gently taking the bags from Rain's hands. "Well, that's true. I was just having… A friendly chat with them." He lied. He wasn't a good liar, either. It was another one of his flaws. Everyone could easily see through every white lie he tried to tell if he ever did at all. He should be emotionless, so no one would be able to tell the difference. But no.

"I know the difference between a nice chat and trouble. Nice try. Lie to me again and I won't see you for a week." She said in a sharp tone. "I don't much condone lying, especially around the kids. Charlie stop eating snow and hurry up. This is all heavy." She huffed and picked up her pace, and at any moment she could fall flat on her face.

"Jacob all I can do is worry. It's important I worry. Worrying is what's keeping me and Alice alive. My parents never worried. And now they're dead." She went along even faster, obviously frustrated.

"Jacob we're in a war. It's no your mess or my mess it's everyone's mess!" She sighed and leaned into him. "You brought me into the mess the night you were a kind friend who walked me home, blood splattered and still gruff. And the day you checked up on me after, and then carrying me to the hospital. When you decided to not hurt me for witnessing your work, but lent me a helping hand home. The day you let me into your world Jacob. Just for a moment here and there. And you seem to have taken quite the liking to me." She blushed a bit at that, and suddenly yelled out. "CHARLIE QUIT THROWING SNOW AT THE BIRDS! WE'RE ALMOST HOME!" And he pouted a bit, dropped the snow ball, and kept walking.

Jacob flushed as Rain kept talking, and even more so when she leaned on him. He didn't flinch when Rain yelled, as he has heard much, much louder sounds than that before. "I… I cannot deny any of that…" He mumbled, looking away. "I just… Can't follow my feelings, and risk getting you killed… Even this is risky. If I'm killed for this, so be it. But I can't put you in danger."
