"Colin, you know full well that I'd win by just giving you bad luck." Jade stuck their tongue out at him, flicking Colin on the side of his head. "And if I didn't win in this game, I could win in a fight." They nodded to their sword.
"Colin, you know full well that I'd win by just giving you bad luck." Jade stuck their tongue out at him, flicking Colin on the side of his head. "And if I didn't win in this game, I could win in a fight." They nodded to their sword.
Colin shoved them again, grinning a dimpled smile.
Tasha, meanwhile, sighed and began dealing out the cards.
HAPPY 954TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS YES I'M A NERD FIGHT ME
(Bro yeah, happy anniversary!!)
Jaden too their card, setting them down on the table in front of them. "Ah yes, my love of gambling will spawn from this game." They joked.
Colin rolled his eyes and picked up his pile.
"Right, who's got the Ace of Spades?" Tasha asked, scanning her cards.
"Ooh! Me! I do!" said Colin excitedly, putting down a card.
Tasha looked at him, amused. "Colin, that's the Ace of Hearts."
"Oh. Sorry." He picked it up again.
Jade looked at their cards and threw one down. "I do, none of my luck needed."
"Right, my turn, right?" Colin said, plucking two cards from his pile. "Um… two twos."
"One three," said Tasha promptly, discarding a card.
Valentina nodded to the rule. SHe decided to follow it. Not wanting to make enemies that fast. "two fours." She said placing it down.
"BS," Colin said promptly.
Tasha rolled her eyes. "Colin, you can't call BS so early in the game."
"Yes I can!"
"I don't think you're supposed to. Sportsmanship, you see."
Colin nodded like he understood, then grinned at Valentina. "OK. Sorry. Not BS."
Jade grinned and threw three cards down. "Three fives my dudes."
Colin frowned at his cards and selected three of them. "Three sixes."
"BS," Tasha said, "I have two sixes."
Colin pointed an accusing finger at Tasha. "Cheater! Cheater cheater pumpkin eater! No powers!"
"It's not powers, just logic," Tasha said coolly, pushing her glasses back up the bridge of her nose.
"Oh." Colin sighed, frowned, and turned his cards over, revealing a six, a three, and a king, before taking the pile.
Tasha put down a seven.
(Whoops thought Valentina would notice Lyn. Anyway, sorry for my absence, had the PSAT)
(Ah! I hope you did well!)
Lyn padded closer, her eyes trained on the others in a sort of detached fascination. She purred with amusement at Colin and Tasha’s back and forth before leaping onto a seat some feet away from them, wanting to get closer to see how they played.
(It was…. ok)
(shoot sorry was busy an wasnt paying all that attention when I wrote that if I missed something)
Valentina noticed the cat and looked at it slightly weird. "one seven," she said putting a card down. "And whos cat?
(Don’t worry about it :)
Nobody’s, Lyn thought. Her ear twitched, and she stuck out her tongue in response to Valentina’s look.
She thought about shifting to human form, but decided not to. She was comfortable, and besides, it’s not like anyone would know her if she did. She hadn’t made any good friends yet, and was still getting used to life on the farm. She flicked her eyes back to the game.
"That's Lyn," Colin said with a smile. "Two eights."
"One nine."
"BS, Tasha."
"Take 'em."
A groan from Colin and some shuffling of cards. He had nearly a third of the deck now.
Jade threw down four cards. "Four tens." They hummed, smiling wickedly. They loved BS, it was a fun game, especially when you weren't even lying just… Extremely lucky.
Valentina looked at the cat for another second but then just shrugged and looked back at her cards. She bit her lip slightly and bounced her leg. Putting down two cards. "Two jacks."
"Four queens," Colin said triumphantly, setting down some cards.
Tasha examined her cards, sighed, and put down a king.
(cough)
(sneeze sorry should I make Lyn human or smth? Idk how else to move the story if no one else is going to-)
(can I please join? I'm aware that asking wasn't required but… ah… it just seems natural to.)
(Ya of course you can!)
