Shane Cady strolled through the crowded airport, adjusting the collar of his turtleneck. He slipped into an empty booth at a restaurant and pulled out his plane ticket. While at first it looked like an average piece of paper, the letters and symbols on the page wrinkled and twisted until they formed an abbreviated dossier of his target.
Nadia Morozov. 26. FSB spy. Recently completed an reconnaissance mission which the CIA must know the results of. Your mission is to learn the outcome of this mission, as well as any others she may have performed. Do this by any means necessary, you big softie.
Shane let out a little scoff as he reached the end of his assignment. Just because his main strategy was friendship first, it didn’t mean he was totally incompetent!
A simple mission, one Nadia Morozov had done many times without fail. She was to gather the intel a CIA spy by the name of Shane Cady collected about an ongoing assignment. Able to use any tactic that she pleased, Nadia went for her signature move, to get them to fall in love with her. She was already on the plane with only 20 hours left on her flight to Cuba, the meeting point of Agent Cady and one of his assets.
Shane’s dossier wasn’t the only bit of information he was given about the mission, thank God. When a hooded figure sat down across from him, he let out a little smile. “Cherry, you know a hood makes you more suspicious, right?” he asked casually, pretending to peruse a menu. “Shh! We have to use codenames!” the figure replied in an excited voice. They tugged their hood down, revealing a young woman’s freckled face and a mop of red hair. “It’s Shadow, remember?” Shane rolled his eyes good-naturedly. “Shadow, what can you tell me about my assignment?” he said, tugging out a notepad and a pen. “Well, the target is super hot. Like, really hot. Like, I’m falling in love with them remotely hot,” Cherry explained. “That’s not relevant, just wanted to tell you that.” Shane wrote it down anyway. “She’s a real professional, there’s no record of her failing a mission, and she’s like a super good seductress. It’s kinda her thing,” she babbled. Shane’s interest was piqued. The target definitely seemed like a challenge, but he enjoyed the difficulty of becoming friends with a variety of people. This was no different.
Nadia leaned her head back on the plane seat, instantly lifting her head up again, remembering the file she had been given on one Shane Cady. She pulled out a file from her backpack, pulling down the table and set the file down on it. Reading through it, realized how… different of a target he was. She'd never seen anyone who tried to be friends with their assets rather than lovers or by reading them in. Se had to come at this a different way, good thing she had a while to think about it. Remotely, her tech op was on standby, of course, he couldn't be contacted while Nadia was on the plane, but he was there nonetheless.
(Do you want to do a time skip to when she lands?)
After such a long flight, Nadia finally got off the plane. She was way too tired for her own good since she had only gotten only 3 hours of sleep. But she wouldn't let that stop her. Promptly leaving the airport and getting into a cab, she asked the driver in a very heavy Russian accent to take her to her hotel. She had about half an hour before she was "planned" to meet the target.
Shane had been in this airport for 10 hours and he was tired. Cherry had left forever ago, his phone had died, and he had left his charger at home. A half-eaten McDonald’s cheeseburger sat in front of him, and he sipped mournfully at a lukewarm coffee. Suddenly, a burst of static sounded in his ear, and a tinny voice began to speak. “The target is heading towards her hotel. Directions have been sent to your smart-paper. You have 45 minutes.” Shane shot to his feet. Finally! He grabbed his coat and bag and ran towards the parking garage. He slipped behind the wheel of his assigned Honda Civic and pulled out of the parking garage at a reasonable speed. Taking out the smart-paper, he tucked it into his cup holder. Off to the hotel!
Arriving at the hotel 7 minutes later, Nadia paid the driver and stepped out of the cab, taking a breath of the nice air. Looking over her shoulders, she walked into the hotel. She checked into her room, giving the manager a smile, "Thank you, sir." Walking to the elevator, she pressed level 3.
(Eyy just another random question… have you seen Alias? It just might also be a spy show…)
(I haven’t! I need to catch up on my spy shows!)
(I would definitely recommend that one as well XD)
Shane parked his car in front of the hotel, and paused, about to unbuckle. What did he actually know about the target- Nadia? I mean, it wasn’t like he had to kill her or anything, but his least favorite part of his job was the lying. A weird thing to hate for, you know, a spy, but he thought helping people was more important.
Nadia made it to the third floor and headed towards her room. She had approximately 15 minutes before she was to "bump" into her target. Setting her bags down, she changed into a sundress and got her purse to sling around her shoulder. She took a deep breath. This was her specialty, just another mission. She headed out the door a little early, taking her time to get to and down the elevator. With 3 minutes remaining, she left the hotel. Her new hair color and style flowing behind her. It was almost like each mission was Halloween, just a little toned down.
Shane gave himself a little mental slap. He had a mission to complete. Just as he was about to step out of the car when he caught sight of a woman in his rear-view mirror. Her hair and her confident stride matched the description he was given. Shane slowly exited his vehicle and pretended to consult his dead phone while following Miss Morozov.
Turning the corner, Nadia caught a glimpse of her target. Smiling to her self, she kept going around the corner and down the sidewalk. She walked into a small cafe and sat down, alone at a table for two. This was going to be fun.
Shane saw her sit down in the cafe, and he could have sworn he saw Nadia watching him. Before passing the cafe, he pulled a blank piece of plastic out of his pocket. With a tap, the surface shifted to look like a very convincing credit card. Prepared, he began to walk directly towards her table and sat down across from her like he was meant to be there. “Excuse me, Miss, but does this card belong to you?” he asked politely, sliding the card to her.
What? Nadia hadn't lost her credit card already. She smiled, "I sure hope not, I just got here and it's not a good sign if I already lost something… let me check my bag real quick." She pulled her purse in front of her so she could look into it. She was definitely not missing her card, but it couldn't hurt to take it and see what Agent Cady was trying to gain from this. "Oh jeez, It is mine. Thank you so much, sir, this wouldn't have been much of a vacation if I couldn't eat." Her Russian accent was very heavy as always. Honestly, she took a lot of pride in it.
Shane smiled, a real, genuine smile. “Oh, no trouble at all for me! I’m glad I was able to help.” He stuck his hand out for a shake. “The name’s Sam McCarthy. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” The credit card ruse was a classic of his. The card in question was actually a device for scanning fingerprints, and Nadia’s had just been sent to the CIA headquarters for future reference.
Nadia took his hand, shaking it a little. "I'm Tonya Petrov, very nice to meet you, Sam. Do you have any plans for the next hour or so?" She asked. Letting go of Shane's hand, she smiled and waited for his response.
“I… actually don’t! You see, I’m here for a business dinner that I thought was tonight, but my boss can’t read a calendar and the dinner is tomorrow. So I am a free man for the evening,” Shane replied, waving his arms as he told his tale. Nadia gave him a bit of a weird vibe, with inconsistencies that he couldn’t quite put together in his mind, but he was intrigued rather than off put.
Nadia's smile grew. "Would you mind joining for lunch? I just got off my flight and I'm starved. It would be great to have someone join me. She had been holding the 'credit card' the whole time, so she finally put it in her bag and moved it so it's not in her way.
“That’d be great! My other option for today was channel surfing in my hotel room, so, you know, I’m not gonna be too picky!” Shane joked.
Nadia laughed slightly. She was satisfied with the outcome thus far. Not that she was worried about the mission, not at all she had it in the bag. But it was a little different than expected. She waved down a waiter and asked for water for the both of them.
“Water. Good choice!” Shane commented after the waiter had left. “So, you said you were here on a vacation. If I may ask, who or what are you on vacation from?” he asked, resting his elbow on the table.
