Ferris set down the cup in front of the man before going back to her daily tasks behind the counter. he glared at the cup skeptically before taking a sip…then another. Ferris grinned before continuing on with wiping down the counter top. “Anything else I can get you sir?”
“My wallet from the bar? The bartender wouldn’t let me gather my things after he kicked me out.”
Ferris roles her eyes “Maybe when you sober up a bit he’ll let you back in. Until then, here’s a coffee cake, on the house.” Ferris set down the plate in front of him and glanced out the window to the car across the street. She’s shook her head with smile
Rowan turned some music on, AC/DC they aren't a pussy, and started to clean up more. Every time Misty got anywhere near their speakers, Rowan just raised an eyebrow at her, she knows not to mess with their music. "After you clean up, do you want to go get some coffee?" Misty yelled over Rowan's music, prompting them to turn it down just a bit. "This is an excuse for me to buy you coffee isn't it?"
"You run on redbull and monster, drink some coffee yourself!!"
“Oh hell no, it’s 11:00 in the morning!” Not many things got Ferris riled up but inconsiderate people broke that limit.
“Excuse me for a quick moment.” Ferris told her patron, throwing the towel down onto the counter and storming out the door and across the street to the bar. She tried yanking open the door before giving up, seeing that it was locked. He put a hand over her eyes and peeking in through the window, hoping to catch sight of anyone that would possibly let her in. She knocked a few times, not expecting to Ben heard through the loud music but hoping.
“At least they have decent taste.” She muttered to herself, nodding along to song
(Oh lol, the bar's closed. There's no one in there but Misty and Rowan)
(Ah sorry! I’ll change that then)
Misty's face peeked out at Ferris, waving before vanishing back to grab Rowan. "Hey dude, someone is looking angry and knocking on the door." She pushed them toward the door. Rowan unlocked the door and opened it. "Ah, hello. I'm sorry but the bar is closed."
Ferris took a step back and allowed for her person to open door. “I’m not here for alcohol. I actually work a few stores down. My name isn’t Ferris. I was just wondering if it were possible for you to turn down your music just a smidge.” She pinched her fingers together, leaving a space between.
“It’s just a bit early for heavy rock at that level.” She smiled softly, hoping she didn’t come off as an annoying person or anything. “Love the band by the way.”
Rowan's eyes widened. "Apologies, I forgot my hearing aids at home last night. I guess playing the music loud isn't helping hy hearing very much, but no, I'll turn it down, apologies." They tapped their ear, showing where their hearing aids should've been.
Now she’s felt horrible. “Oh! No I’m so sorry, I hadn’t realized-“ she cut herself off and but her lip. “I-I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have complained anyways. It’s you’re establishment. You weren’t breaking any rules.” She took a deep breath to steady her rambling and shook her head. “I’m sorry, again. Ah, I’m not good with people.” She let out a nervous laugh and nodded. “No, I wouldn’t say it is.” She agreed with a small smile, not entirely sure why she still stood there
"Don't feel bad, I should've realized. It's not your fault I left my aids at home." Rowan assured Ferris. "And I'm pretty sure someone else would've sent a noise complaint to the police and I really don't want that in my bar, so I'm glad it's just you who came and told me."
(Rowan: :) )
Ferris nodded, though still feeling guilty. “Uhm, can I offer you anything from the shop? Maybe a drink or one of our baked goods? On the house of course, since I came over without a very good reason.” She offered, motioning back to the cafe. “That extends to your friend as well, they’re welcome to come.”
Rowan gives another smile and nods."I'm not one for coffee, but I hear good things about your cinnamon rolls. Misty can pay for her own food and drinks." They threw their rag onto the counter and sent Misty a peace sign. "Please don't come by the bar again tonight, I don't want to deal with you being drunk about another missed hookup." They called bluntly at her, opening the door and stepping out, holding it open for Ferris.
Ferris laughed softly “if not coffee then maybe hot chocolate?” She said with a smile, glancing over her shoulder at Misty and mouthing ‘I’ll bring you one later’ before following the other out. “Uhm I never caught your name before.” She noted as she pulled open the door to the cafe and waved for them to come inside. “Pick anywhere to sit, I’ll be back with the cinnamon rolls.”
"I'm Rowan, me and a friend co-own the bar. He does all the paperwork and stuff while I deal with people and the bar." They explained, stepping into the cafe and getting hit with the smell of coffee. They didn't really like coffee, but it did smell good. "And hot chocolate is good, I tend to run off of energy drinks." They gave a sheepish laugh.
“Ah that explains how you miraculously stay sane while dealing with your customers, especially after a few too many drinks.” She nodded with a smile and started on the order, adding some cinnamon as well as nutmeg and allspice. “Want chili in yours or hold off?” She asked, walking over with the oozing cinnamon roll and warm hit chocolate.
The man from before had left, leaving the tip as well advised the initial cost under the mug as well as a sweet note, apologies in general for his behavior and thanking Ferris for the service. She smiled softly and pinned the recite on a board next to many more that we’re displayed behind her
"I have never once pretended to be sane, I'm just good at hiding my insanity, I suppose. I get a lot of thanks from people who get harassed in my bar, which probably outshines all the shit the patrons do." Rowan hummed, taking the mug with a nod of thanks. "I'm good with just regular ol' hot chocolate."
She nodded with a smile, “it defiantly does.” She agreed, smiling and nodding as a few more customers came in.
“You sure? Got chocolate with a bit of chili tastes amazing.” She drawled with a smile, setting it aside and picking up a notepad to take the orders of the customers that had come in.
"Yeah, I'm pretty proud on that end." They took a sip of their drink before apologizing again. "I'm so sorry for the music again, but thank you for the free drink. You really didn't need to do that, I can't imagine your boss would be too happy that you gave on the house drinks to your local competition of sorts."
She shook her head from her spot now behind the counter, pulling pastries from the display cases and pouring a variety of different coffee’s as she’s spoke with Rowan. “Don’t worry about it, the music or the drinks. I don’t have a boss so it’s really not a problem. As for competition,” she shrugged. “I never really thought about other businesses around me in that way. We all have jobs to do to live. Why does that have to be a competition?” She’s asked, putting the orders on a tray and making her way around, passing them out to their respected tables
(No god yeah, I haven't had the brain power to write Rown the past few days)
(It’s okay! Take your time! If you don’t want to continue it’s okay, too!)
