(o hai, i'm here now. i fell asleep last time)
hey there! it's perfectly fine, sometimes sleep is unavoidable. which is probably a good thing for those of us who love putting it off

do you want to be the runaway or someone who's been with the circus a bit or forever/ish?
what should we do for a plot?
ah, uuh, i think i'd like to be the one who's been with the circus
plot wise, im not sure, gimme a bit of time to think
alrighty! do we want a temp then?

Name: Adayu
Other name(s): The Beast Tamer
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality and relationship status: Hasn't had any romantic past
Nationality: Chinese or japanese
Family: Unknown
Companions/closest friends: A white Siberian tiger with blue eyes
Affiliation(s) that might come up later or could be used plot wise: Unknown yet
Occupation/rank in the circus hierarchy: He's in the second circle rank wise, though he gets along better with the people in the third circle.
Appearance: When on stage, he appears graceful and mystical, with a strange air about him; in his private life, he swings between shy, silent and a "hasn't slept in 36 hours" kind of look.
Skin colour: Warm peach
Hair colour, type and length: Raven black, with white strands here and there, chin length and messy
Eye colour: Emerald green
Height: 5.5ft
Weight: 58 kg
Build: Fairly lean build that allow him to maintain his skinny appearance when wearing his clothes
Other: He has a few faded scars on his arms and body.
General clothing: A simple white shirt with bouffant sleeves, a red sash tied around his waist and dark large trousers.
Powers/abilities(what makes them a 'Freak'): He is able to talk to animals
Physical abilities(anything else, related or unrelated to abilities above): He is what could be described as a male Maledictus, a person able to transform into a beast at will - it is one of Adayu's best kept secret, given he is insecure about controlling his transformation. Whenever needed, he acts as a spare acrobat.
Skill(s)/strengths unrelated to the circus: He is a great cook and a decent artist.
Weaknesses: His social skills are kinda bad, given he spends more time talking to his animals than he does to people.
Personality: He's usually a silent, calm person, who keeps mostly to himself. Despite the initial chilly look, he's polite and willing to help anyone.
Likes: Warm food, the presence of an animal nearby, the smell of rainy days
Dislikes: Abusive animal trainers, sword eaters, sunny days and cold weather
Bio/backstory: He's been with the circus from a very young age, picked up from a very poor neighborhood in a faraway town. He can't remember much from the time prior to him joining the circus.
Feats and accomplishments: He is considered to be the best animal trainer at the moment, and while he's a good acrobat, he prefers staying with his animals
fdghgjklhgfg i love him so much?
svfh u do? :"D
yes??? he's adorable and great and honestly it's slightly ironic that he's an animal tamer considering Aurata is a spider charmer
Ooo, spider charmer ovo i lov
what a coincidence tho
Name: Aurata Cain
Other name(s): Anansi. This is the name she goes by after running away.
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality and relationship status: Has absolutely no clue, and hasn’t really been given the opportunity to think about it. Single.
Nationality: West African and Greek
Family: Her father, Alexandrio Cain, one of the top researchers of spiders and a well-off scientist. Her mother is deceased. Younger brother, Lyon.
Companions/closest friends: A cobalt blue tarantula named Bedri. Her best friend, who she couldn’t convince to leave with her.
Affiliation(s) that might come up later or could be used plot wise: Quite a few wealthy people she’s met thanks to her father and his friends.
Occupation/rank in the circus hierarchy: Isn’t officially on the circus yet, as it’s still being decided where she’ll end up or if she’ll even get to stay.
Appearance: Small and unassuming, yet something about her seems just a bit off, almost dangerous. People with a fear of spiders or who are good at reading others pick up on this more.
Skin colour: On the darker side of tan, the more sun she’s in, the darker it gets.Has freckles, but most people never get close enough to see them.
Hair colour, type and length: Extremely curly hair that she tries her hardest to straighten, because otherwise it’s a constant mess. It falls to just below her shoulder blades, but she’s trying to psyche herself up to cut it. It’s brown, with sunbleached highlights.
Eye colour: Almond shaped eyes that are dark black, but look blue in certain lighting.
Height: 4’11
Weight: Around 94 pounds, almost but not quite underweight for her height.
Build: Built like a dancer, because she is one. Hidden muscle underneath her tiny frame.
Other: Has a tattoo of a black widow behind her right ear, and silvery spiderwebs tattooed on her upper left arm and shoulderblade. Navel and nose are pierced, as well as various ear piercings. Scar over where her right kidney would be.
General clothing: Black leggings and off the shoulder tops or tank tops. Loves being barefoot, but if she needs shoes, converse are her go-to. Layers a denim jacket with a zip up hoodie. Unironically loves scrunchies. Wears her mother’s wedding ring on a leather cord around her neck.
Powers/abilities(what makes them a 'Freak'): Oh boy oh boy. She’s basically a spider charmer. She can communicate with them, as in talking to them and understanding them, and can even, on occasion, call them to her when she’s in distress.
Physical abilities(anything else, related or unrelated to their abilities above): Dancer and extremely flexible. Good flier, because she was a cheerleader through her freshman year till she left.
Skill(s)/strengths unrelated to the circus: Has built up an immunity to spider venoms. Knows way too much about spiders thanks to her father as well. Can lie to anyone about anything and get away with it when she really wants to.
Weaknesses: Has a minor(big) fear of heights.
Personality: Good at thinking on the spot. Adores animals and bugs, but really hates butterflies, and can’t figure out why. It’s related to some memory she’s blocked off. Knows when to bite her tongue and just doesn’t care. Rebellious as hell. Incredibly lonely, but would never admit it.
Likes: Cuddling, though she never gets to. Animals, caffeine and sugar, carbonated things, the stars, the taste adrenaline leaves in her mouth, and night time.
Dislikes: Napping, because it was always called lazy. The color purple, rich people, being afraid even though she loves adrenaline, and jazz.
Bio/backstory: Born to a scientist and a spiritual woman, her household was constantly clashing. Her mother passed away when she was eleven, and she’s convinced it was from a spider bite, though her father always tells her it was a heart attack. Once her mother was gone, the love in her home almost completely faded away, especially once her father found out about the secret her and her mother had kept about her abilities.
Feats and accomplishments: Survived a fall from the roof of her school under mysteriously reported circumstances, and now has a fear of heights. Brought her school to cheer championships and won. Can lift over 200 pounds, but hasn’t tried to go higher.
lmao it really is.
(Oooh, i like her o3o For some reason i keep imagining her as the Enchantress from Identity V - idk why, but i like her o3o)
(also, i might have to go to bed now, it's quite late, and my schedule tomorrow starts at an ungodly hour @-@)
((you should get some sleep! i'll get up a starter today, since it's only one here))
The circus was an almost overwhelming experience. Everything was so bright, from the colors adorning the tents and decorations and clowns moving about the smaller tents, to the energy the people bustling about the place put out. It was loud, too. People chattering and music drifting through the air created a sort of discordant symphony that pulled you in despite how loud it was.
The circus was overwhelming, but to Aurata Cain, it was perfect.
She had always loved it when her mother used to take her to the circus. Cirque D'étoiles came through the town of Gold Springs every year, and Aurata had only missed two of those years. The ones right after her mother passed away, and just the mention of the circus had made her sick.
But she was here again now, again. The circus felt like home, because the people who worked on the circus were people like her. Not normal. People who could do things that weren't normal.
"Evan, where the hell are you?" She spoke into her phone, which was tucked between her ear and her shoulder as she dug through her drawstring bag for her water bottle. There wasn't anything super important in her bag. She wasn't stupid, she knew the kind of people that hung around the circus. Pickpockets were even more common than clowns around here, so any of her valuables were kept in one of the two places they were actually safe. Tucked into her shoes, or in her bra. Her money, ticket, ID and everything were kept in the wallet built into her phone case, keeping it all in one place. Easy. "What do you mean you can't-dammit dude, we go every year. Tell her you're with me. Your mother loves me."
In the back of the huge main tent, next to the lion's cages, Adayu was putting on his animal trainer outfit, getting ready for his performance. He stretched as the large white Siberian tiger paced around in her cage, making various growling noises at him.
"It's okay Sybill, you can handle this crowd just fine, you always do. I know they added flashing lights and loud music, but just keep your eyes on me, you'll be fine."
The large feline groaned again and then let out a weak meow, licking her whiskers.
"Ey, Beast Tamer, you're up in ten minutes!" a clown shouted as he entered the large tent, holding a few juggling balls in hand.
"Got it!" he responded, arranging the collar of his shirt
“Fine. I want you to know you’re missing the animal show though. You poor excuse for a human being.” Aurata huffed, fighting a grin as Eli laughed on the other end.
She handed her ticket over at the booth and was let into the tent, pausing a moment to take in the familiar sights. Gods, it really did feel like home. Shaking off the nostalgic cloud, she grabbed a seat near the front, right along the ring. There weren’t many people actually sitting yet, most still in the process of filing in, so she took advantage of that.
“Bedri. It’s safe to come out now. We aren’t moving.” Aurata whispered, a soft smile coming to her face as the blue tarantula crawled out of her hood, where he’d been hiding. Bedri was one of her father’s spiders, but he and Aurata had always gotten along, since he’d been brought back from one of Dr. Cain’s expeditions. She took him out as often as she could, just to get him out of the room and terrarium he was always stuck in.
"Here we go again" Adayu muttered to himself as he kept his hands in a praying position above his head, in a sort of meme-ish kind of way. The show was about to start soon, and his act was first. He wasn't too worried about it, he'd done it countless times, but there were still a few more minutes left before the actual start of the show. The seats weren't yet full, the people were still walking around, chattering or looking for their seats.
After a short while of watching the spectators, Adayu walked back to the cages, for some last minute chatters with his animals. He began unlocking the cages, letting the creatures out, giving them a roughed headpat every now and then as he spoke to them, reminding them of what they had to do.
Soon enough, he heard the loud gong signaling the start of the show and quickly organized every member of his group, as planned. As usual, he walked inside the tent followed by his animals, waiting patiently behind the large curtain for the start of his act.
The tent was completely immersed in darkness, all the lights having been turned off to mask the workers lifting the fence. As soon as he got the conformation he was good to go, he gave a quick whistle to his animals, and quietly made his way in the middle of the pitch black arena.
Aurata perked up as the lights went out, her hushed conversation with Bedri pausing as they both happily turned their attention to the ring. The show was about to start, and then it was starting, and she felt giddy. Like a child again. Four years old and in her mother's lap, nine and with a bucket of kettle corn her father hated her eating, ten and petting the animal boy's tiger-
And then gone. One more year, the year her mother had passed away. They visited the circus the day before. She'd still been riding that high of the lights and smell of sweet food lingering on her jacket as she come home from school. And that's when she had found her mother.
Shaking her head, Aurata scolded herself. Today was a happy day. She shouldn't be lingering in the past. That was something she did every day already. So today was her day off from worrying and overthinking, from remembering and trying to peace things together. Today was a day for happy, instead of sad.
"Good luck!" one of the workers wished him, patting his shoulder as he hurried behind the large curtain that separated the main hall from the backstage.
The thunder of the drums in the speakers rung in the main tent as Adayu made his way in the middle of the ring, under the first round of applause. A blue light slowly turned on, illuminating his figure, all alone in the middle of the large ring
