We barely remember his stories. His life. His legend. He's a few fragmented myths on the wind now, but we have to find something to help him.

An old god, older than the rest, old enough to be a Capital-G God, has been forgotten. One true myth of him remains, and he only has a few worshippers. He's been off them map for one hundred years, but they swear by the fact that their God has left clues to find him. They just need the help of two gods, first…

Your characters are the worshippers. They end up succeeding in capturing two gods, who will be played by me, and forcing them to help. How your characters capture the gods and keep them there is up to you guys. Turn them mortal until they've completed their quest? Sure! Keep them bound there until they make an unbreakable promise to help? Absolutely! It's up you y'all. Just make sure you can convince both of them to help.

Rules are avoid explicit harm to children and smut, and otherwise you can do anything as long as it isn't horribly bigoted. Or even mildly bigoted. Just no bigotry. andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s other rules generally apply.

I'll post a template if someone shows interest.

I will be using a similar template for my characters, but there will be some modifications to the template for story reasons. If you have any questions about how the world works, ask away!

For some context, worship of deities has continued into the modern day, and miracles are quite commonplace, especially from more popular deities. The more popular a deity is, the more powerful wishes they can grant.

You really don't want to piss off any deity though, they still are very powerful and it's rare for a human to defend themself against even a minor deity.

Another thing is that there are different pantheons with gods whose powers and domains overlap, and worship is more of a regional/cultural thing anyways. The gods are powered by stories and when you look at the whole setup too closely it kind of falls apart, making belief and proof of existence key to getting you worshipped, even if your existence is directly oppositional to that of humans such as a deity of evil. You can be worshipped out of fear, love, greed, as long as you have the power you can do just about anything.

Gods can fade out of existence if they're completely forgotten, so the culture of the now is obsessed with academia and learning and preserving information and history.

Very few gods have a straightforward timeline. There is legitimate discourse in the Tumblr of this world of which myths are attributed to which gods, and what roles they played, but usually they aren't super muddled due to people no longer making things up about gods and now just writing down the history they see.

The old myths are still seen as primary sources, however, and they are regarded with a lot of respect.

Basically, stories and belief power the gods and without that unwavering faith in their presence, there is… no gods. Anyone who questions the gods can upset the cosmic balance of the universe, and that's… not good. There is an organization in place that takes care of people like that, usually by killing them. They have almost as much power as the gods, and little is known about them.

Do you want to turn this into an o/o if nobody else responds?

@CWPoofToxicRush

Name: Esmerelda Poe
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Orientation: Pansexual
Appearance: Esmerelda has long, wavey black hair that falls to her mid-back, and usually ends up held back with a ribbon or pencil. Her skin is a pale porcelain, and her eyes are a bright blue. She always dresses very prim and proper, with knee-length skirts and sharp blazars. (Basically, a sorta gothic and witchy dark academia)
Personality: She acts cold and calculating, and she is-but if she likes you, she can actually be extremely sweet and loyal. It takes a while, and she shows it in her own awkward way, but it's there. She is also bitterly sarcastic, and refuses to take anyone's shit-especially if they're older than her. So while it might take months to get her to that point-yes, she will curse you out for acting like an asshole, and no, she does not have any regard for your standing.
Skills: Research, memorization, quick problem solving, improvisation, lying
Weapons?: A small dagger her mother gave her. It's silver, tarnished slightly from lifetimes of use, and it has a hilt wrapped in soft, old leather.
Backstory?: She's a new character, so I'm still working on this part.
Theme Song?: Either Break It Up or Elegie, both by Patti Smith. They just feel like her.
Quotes?: "No." "That's only the most basic myth-" "Please, just let me have my coffee." "Unhand the book! You'll make me lose my place!"
Other: Nope

I love her already! I'll post my characters and then we'll start!

Name: The Death of War
Age: Appears like a little girl, probably about 5-7.
Gender: Female
Orientation: She doesn't have time to worry about that.
Appearance: The Death of War is a scrawny, emaciated little girl with dusty, blood-stained brown skin and matted black hair. Her eyes are a dull, defeated brown, they have lost everything. She wears a thin, oversized tunic that comes down to her knees, it is a khaki color and is horribly stained and dilapidated.
Personality: Wise beyond her years, and so, so sad.
Weapons?: Nothing. She has nothing.
Backstory?: She has no major myths, mostly cameoing in mythology as the tragic figure, or an actively malicious one.
Theme Song?: None
Quotes?: Nothing too notable to put here.
Other: Her pantheon focuses on two categories of deity. The Deaths, and Lifes. Life focuses on the positive to neutral aspects of a subject, and Deaths focus on the negative, the horrible. However, there is no Life of whatever force has a Death, they have ruled out that category having anything positive. But, while there is no Life of War, there is a Life of Victory. There can be overlap into areas where negative things have majority rule.

Name: Eiyf
Age: 600 but appears in their early 40s.
Gender: Nonbinary, takes just about any form they please but typically show up more masculine.
Orientation: Pansexual
Appearance: They shapeshift, but often appear as a humanoid leopard (haha they're a furry- sorry too soon?), it's actually a bit more terrifying than cute or catlike though, and they are also kind of a nine foot tall monster so… ya know.
Weapons?: Detachable claws that grow back in seconds, good for throwing at enemies.
Backstory?: Oh they have no timeline, but they feature too heavily in the Myths of Muse to leave stuff out, and their most significant myth involves their creation of the peacock, which is held as sacred in their religion (it's a cult, btw. Whoops).
Theme Song?: Single Ladies by Beyonce, Womanizer by Britney Spears, Boys by Lizzo, Revolver and Vogue by Madonna mostly upbeat pop songs with That Vibe to them. A more somber song for them would be Are You Satisfied by MARINA
Quotes?: I honestly can't think of anything right now.
Other: They are the Deity of Chaos, Wine, Trans People and People of Marginalized Orientations, the Negative Side to Nature, Leopards, Music, the Stars, Beauty, Passion (more in the wink wink sense than anything else), Death, Peacocks, and many other things, those are just the most notable. Very popular with the kids. Their pantheon is built on the foundation that the gods are inherently malicious and created humanity just to see them suffer.

Thanks! I'm more attached to the Death of War than Eiyf but I still think they both have good potential.

Maybe when your chara captures the gods and does her thing to make them help her? Idk.

It would be better if you started for that, sorry. Could you?

@CWPoofToxicRush

Esmerelda stood in the circle, looking around to double-check that she had it all right. She took a deep breath, looking down at the old tome in her hands, marred by sticky notes filled in her messy scrawl, trying to keep her voice even- nerves wouldn't help now. Intention, confidence, not freaking out when that wind came from nowhere and the candles went out- just look up when it went quiet and still.

Suddenly, time stopped. Everything that moved was still, and the room was a stark silhouette against the rest of the world. And then they appeared. The child, and the monster. "What brings you to summon me?" they both stated in unison, and the monster went "Hey! That was my line!"

The child sighed and dropped to the ground. "Why have you summoned me, young one?" she was wise beyond her years, and she had many of them, one could tell.
