(This intro's gonna be a bit lengthy, brace yourself XD)
Setting: The eastern region of the US after a devastating civil war, decades in the future. The government has collapsed and the country is divided into small, motley groups, each trying to survive in their own way. Our rp focuses on the bandit tribes of New England: fierce groups of pillagers and lowlifes, each led by a fearsome warlord and battling with each other for total control of the surrounding turf. There are five tribes which hold the greatest power currently–I'll explain them in a moment.
Premise: These events and characters are from a story of mine. I will be, for the most part, playing Chief Boar-back and his tribe called the Hounds. I'll includes appearances from the other tribes when necessary. Your character can either be a wanderer from the west who stumbled onto bandit turf, a villager who got frustrated with your life and decided to join my tribe, or a bandit who recently joined for other reasons. (Note: If you don't quite like these options, I'm open to suggestions–I don't want you to feel like your role was picked for you XD) The story will follow us as we try to survive the countless dangers surrounding us while also slowly expanding our messed-up but devoted found family.
Rules/notes:

  • andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules basically (There will be a certain amount of gore and violence in this rp, but hopefully not too much. And certainly nothing explicit, thanks. Romance might happen, but if so, I'd prefer it to be a minor subplot and pretty softcore.)
  • Please watch your grammar and spelling, and please try to type more than one sentence per reply to keep the story moving. Y'all know the drill I'm sure.
  • Don't do anything crazy to the plot without asking, but know that if you have an idea, I'd love to hear it! I want this to be fun for both of us ^^ And If you have any questions about the world/setting/bandit tribes, I'd be happy to answer them.
  • Magic does technically exist in my world, but I'd prefer to keep it a minor part of this story. If you'd like your character to have magic or not be human, that's fine, as long as they're not op and have semi-believable abilities, if that makes sense.
  • Bandits are generally rude, uncouth people. I apologize in advance if my characters are mean to yours, and I promise it's nothing personal. Don't be afraid to let your character fight back, even throw hands if they want XD
  • I would really like to have a dedicated, long-term rp with someone, so please don't join if the idea doesn't really interest you. (That said, I work a part-time job rn so I may be gone some mornings and weekends haha. I don't mind if your schedule's spotty, as long as you're invested in the rp ^^)
  • I will post a character template when and if someone expresses interest.

The five main bandit tribes (briefly):
The Hounds- Led by the experienced, formidable Boar-back, they rule the heavily-forested mountains. They are a very large tribe and very loyal to each other, which makes up for the relative weakness of the individual members.
The Devil-Birds- Led by Jackal Death-Hide, a young but ruthless man who's quickly carrying his tribe to infamy. They control the western woods and everything within it. Though small in number, their members are some of the most bloodthirsty and dangerous bandits in the country.
The Lakes- Led by Corin the Crazy, they reside in the frigid, barren marshes just below the Great Lakes. By far the weakest of the five tribes, they are still not to be trifled with and are known for their great resilience and cunning.
The Dead Eyes- Led by the small but powerful Bullet-Eater, this tribe makes its home in the ruins of the old pre-war cities, harshly taxing anyone who lives there. This is the tribe known for its reliance on strategy and negotiation, although with its superior weaponry it can still pack a punch in a fight.
The Valley Stalkers- Known as the only all-female bandit tribe, they're led by Nine Lives Nel, a cruel and ambitious woman who rules the southern lowlands with an iron fist. Don't get on their bad side–they may claim to protect girls from danger, but they're much too good at killing to be considered benevolent guardians.

(lol np! XD)
(I'mma just do this for my bandit chief, he won't be my only character but he's the leader sooo)
Name: Boar-back
Age: 60-ish, he's gettin up there
Gender: Male
Lifestyle (Bandit, lone wanderer, villager, trader, fighter, etc. etc.): Bandit chief
Brief physical description: Tall, in good health and strong for someone his age, tanned and blond with white streaks in his hair, brown eyes. His face is HEAVILY scarred, it looks like someone smacked him with an electric can opener, but he makes no effort to hide the damage.
Brief personality: Chill, very slow to anger, has a decent sense of humor and radiates authority. A very experienced leader.
Strengths and weaknesses: He's smart, great at fighting, has a way with words, knows how to win the loyalty of others and has lots of common sense. On the downside, he's a murderer, enjoys violence, isn't afraid to make others suffer, and maybe has a fatal soft spot for the more useless members of his tribe.
Powers/magic (optional): None.
Other?: He holds the record for longest surviving bandit chief, his fave weapon is an axe, and he has no surviving relatives or descendants. Family isn't really his thing.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Name: Tarantella Hunt
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Lifestyle (Bandit, lone wanderer, villager, trader, fighter, etc. etc.): A former fighter who has gone into hiding in a nearby village
Brief physical description: Long silver hair that she usually keeps up in a ponytail. Bright silver eyes and pale skin, with almost no blemishes. She has lots of scars on her arm and legs, and some on the rest of her body, too. She looks a little bit like an ice princess. Her entire left arm is made of metal, and has some super handy uses. Usually wears normal village clothes and a glove over her metal hand, and a hood over her hair, so as not to attract attention.
Brief personality: A huge procrastinator. Hates preparing for anything until the last second, which has often been bad. for her, and often deadly. A survivor. She is rarely angry, but loves to fight, and loves a challenge. She has a very strong survival instinct, and is very sarcastic, and very wary of everyone.
Strengths and weaknesses: She has almost perfect survival instincts. She has survived many things by pure wit and cunning, and common sense. She is an amazing fighter, and pretty decent at blending into crowds. She is rather cocky, though, and can be blindsided kind of easily. She can also be too overcautious, which can hurt her when she might have needed help.
Powers/magic (optional): N/A
Other?: She was once a mighty and famous fighter called Kali, after the goddess of destruction. After getting her arm cut off in a battle, she ran, and after getting a new arm, went into hiding in a nearby village.

(Okay, I'm back! Sorry that took so long ^^; So, how do we wanna start this? It looks like your character's a fighter, so it seems like she'd be in high demand by both villagers and bandit alike if they find out. Let's see….does she have much loyalty for the village she's living in rn, or is it just a place to hunker down for her?)

@PrettyLittlePyro

(It's fine, my schedule is pretty irregular XD)
(So, really, she doesn't have loyalty to the village. She had her injury, and so she went into hiding, and there are some bad people after her. But no one knows what she is, and so the village scorns her, and so she hates them.)

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Probably! Maybe she'd be hesitant first, though… ooh, what if there was a test that the villagers had to take, to see if the bandits would kill them or not. Like, are they suitable to join or not.)

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Hmm… like maybe, the bandits don't tell the villagers that they're not going to kill them. And then, when the suspense is huge, the bandits go to attack a person at a time, a group of them per villager. And if the villager can kind of hold out against them, then they're accepted. And there are tests about medicine and cooking knowledge too, before the killing.)

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(Oh good to know XD I guess they might guess pretty quickly that she's no ordinary villager, so they'd ask her about it then. Also to clarify, by 'defeat the bandits', we don't necessarily mean 'kill the bandits' lol. I admit, I'm too attached to most of these dorks to let them die ^^; They can definitely get beat up though. That all right with you? )
