Abandon had eventually dozed off, curled around Grayson. But outside, there was the clicking of footsteps, the faint jingling of decorative chains as someone approached
Grayson was fast asleep, exhausted from getting none the night before, safely tucked in Abaddon's embrace. He didn't wake up to the noise.
The figure approached the door, it’s footsteps silent. It was tall and robotic, with any resemblance to skin glowing a pale white. It had a mask of sorts covering its face, and its lips pursed as it studied the building for a moment
Grayson shifted a little, finding Abaddon's hand in his sleep and squeezing it.
Abaddon shifted a bit before eventually yawning, rubbing at his eyes with one hand. But his eyes widened when he caught sight of a familiar glow. “Grayson,” he whispered, shaking the other’s shoulder
"What?" Grayson mumbled, slightly annoyed at being woken up. He kept his eyes closed and his head on Abaddon's chest.
“There’s someone here, and I think we-“ Abaddon started, but was cut off when the door was slammed open.
“Abaddon Alastair, your time has come,” the glowing figure said calmly, as if they hadn’t just broken into someone’s house
Grayson sat up immediately. "No." He said quietly, looking between Abaddon and the figure.
"You are in violation of several codes set by your people, and have been sentenced to public execution. Come peacefully, or I will kill you and your host here and now," the figure stated, its voice vaguely robotic.
"Grayson, don't worry," Abaddon murmured, curling protectively around Grayson
Grayson glared up at the figure. "You can't take him." He growled, holding on tight to Abaddon.
"He is the property of the god Ein, ruler of light and chief justice of Molhaven. We have given him enough chances," the figure stated plainly.
Grayson, I have an idea. You might not like it, because there's a good chance we might destroy something, but I want you to trust me, Abaddon told Grayson mentally
Anything to keep you with me. Grayson responded, keeping his eyes on the figure.
Then hold on, Abaddon warned. He seemingly glitched out of existence, but as he did so violet and cobalt lines began to trace themselves onto Grayson's skin. His eyes began to glow as well, and the lines seemingly led to a mark on the back of Grayson's neck.
"Abaddon, stop, you are in violation of several codes!" the figure yelled, its calm demeanor faltering now
Grayson gripped Abaddon's arm tight and looked down at his own, trusting that Abaddon knew what he was doing.
Suddenly, a pair of wings began to sprout from Grayson's back, and a ghostly pair of horns appeared above Grayson's head. Claws began to form around Grayson's arms, and the figure stepped back a bit. Are you ready? Abaddon murmured, blades of varying types flicking into existence in a circle around him
I..I think so… Grayson replied nervously, staring in awe down at his arms.
Then choose, Abaddon murmured, a slight growl in his voice. But now it was both their voices, both their thoughts, and they felt like one person. And Abaddon's meaning seemed clear now–fight or flight. But there was a feeling, a want to kill, an old anger that was bubbling up, and it was focused on the glowing figure in front of them
We have nowhere to go. Grayson thought, feeling the anger radiating towards the figure. Can we fight it?
We can kill it if we want. Like this we can kill anything. But it is doing its job. We hate it for doing its job, Abaddon murmured, eyes fixing on the creature
Of course we do. Let's kill it. Grayson answered quietly, looking up at the figure.
Lovely, Abaddon growled, but it was Grayson's mouth that was growling. They seemed to both be controlling Grayson's body as one mind, and the figure stepped back a bit before forming what appeared to be a javelin out of light.
"In the name of Ein, halt!" they exclaimed
Oh, by the way. I have no idea what I’m doing. Grayson added quietly.
Then let me help you, Abaddon murmured, chuckling softly as he held out a hand. The knives from before shot out at the figure, and they leapt back just before they were impaled
How powerful is this thing? He asked, eyes widening slightly.
It's an angel named Lokai. They are the god Ein's imperial general. Strong, but not so much that we can't kill them if we so wish. Or at least rid them of their shell, Abaddon murmured
