He paused for a moment before glancing at the other. "Sorry- I was quoting a book…" He smiles shyly. "Sometimes I do that… Whenever someone says a key word… it uh… reminds me of something." He shrugged. "Uhm… this sounds off… but uhm… are… are you a demon?" He asks quietly.
"It's quite alright, I don't particularly mind." Azzie smiled again, didn't want to chase away the human. Their eyebrows raised when he asked the question, fingers tapping on the side of their cup again. "What led you to that conclusion?"
He nods slowly, a little relieved that the other didn't get mad at him. He watched the party, now ignoring the drink. "Well… I… You keep making references to stuff a demon does. Like making deals and being summoned and stuff like that…" It was a kind of secret, but he was very curious about demons, not necessarily angels, they were pricks.
"What makes you think I'm not just interested in the occult, alt fashion, wannabe demons. You shouldn't assume everyone who wears fishnets and eyeliner is a demon." Azzie tsked, but their tone wasn't particularly judgemental, just humour.
He blushed crimson. "I'm… I'm sorry." He knew the others words held no malice. But he was embarrassed. He was shy, he had no skills when when it comes to people. He sighed deeply, "Sorry-." He mumbled again. He took a sip of the booze before spitting it out. "That's definitely not the best alcohol in the land." He hissed sharply.
Azzie stretched their hands in the air and chuckled. "Oh don't be sorry, you're right, I was just teasing." When they were done stretching, they took another sip of their drink, throwing the now empty cup behind them.
He blinked repeatedly before nodding slowly. "So… so I was right?" He asks softly. "But… If I may ask… What are you doing here?" He offered his drink to the other, not liking the taste one bit.
"I told you, I got summoned, he didn't even know he summoned me and just asked for me to make sure no one came upstairs. I get his soul and for a stupid job, easy money." Azzie shrugged, taking the drink and knocking it back. "Plus, free booze."
He nods a little bit and hums quietly. "I suppose that's fair." He still felt the small burn in the back of his throat. Alcohol was never his thing. "What's it like being a demon?" He asks quietly. He had always been interested. "I-If it's okay to ask-" He added on worriedly. God he probably looked like an idiot. His cheeks were flushed red with embarrassment.
Azzie snorted and leaned back against the stairs, body being supported by their elbows. "Well, it's a lot more of random people summoning you by accident than it is mystery and fun. Most of the time I get free booze and a random soul out of it, so I wouldn't say it's all bad." They raised an eyebrow and guestured their head toward him. "What's it like being a human?"
He listened intently, a faint glimmer in his eyes as he listened intently. He paused when being asked what it was like being human. He looked down at his hands and shrugged. "People say it's great to be human…" He shrugged sadly. "Rather painful if you ask me." He ran a hand through his hair. "We live here, we slave our lives away, and then we die. Not really a point to it if you ask me."
"Seems just like a speedrun of a demon's life. Unless you're a higher up demon who gets their own domain, we just get summoned by random humans." Azzie stretched, a victorious smile on their face when they heard a crack. "And don't say there's no point to it. If there wasn't any point to life, you wouldn't've met me. I'd say anyone who meets me get's a new point in life. I'm rather charming, you know."
He shrugged a little bit and smiled softly at the others, "I guess…" He murmured quietly. "I've never really liked being human." He sighed, shaking his head. He fiddled with his fingers nervously, his eyes darting around a little. "A new point in life?" He asks quietly, his eyes settling on the floor in front of him.
"Oh absolutely," Azzie drawled, swirling their red solo cup before taking another drink from it. "I'm quite important. A descendant of the first hell queen. It doesn't really have much sway itself, but people know me from reputation."
His mouth made a cute little "o" and he nods in interest. "That sounds more interesting then my boring human life." He chuckles quietly. "So… A new life…" He seemed to think on that, chewing on his bottom lip in thought.
