(Also, sorry for not replying last night, a tree fell on the power lines so a) no power, b) it set the street on fire soooo yk lmao)
Reiner stepped back at first at the other man's rapid approach, but once it was clear he meant no threat, Reiner let his cautious smile evolve into an enthusiastic grin. He waved back at the man's energetic greeting, just able to keep up with the man's rapid English.
"Yes! I'm another survivor, I am Reiner. I'm from Germany, originally, and I miss it!" Reiner didn't seem to let any negative emotion touch his tone. "But America isn't so bad if you're here too. Can we be friends? I'm so lonely. We can share all the things, and if you have more friends I can be very useful in a team."
(Damn- well it’s ok and im glad youre ok!)
Cathal nods, jumping up and down. “Yes! Oh its been so lonely!” He gasps, “you can meet my dog! I have no one else.” He seemed to only be getting more and more excited, unable to control his happy stimming.
(Mee too!!)
"Ein Hund!" Reiner said, thrilled. "Ja, let's be very good friends. Okay, lead the way, Cathal. Your name is very nice, by the way."
He shouldered his things and let Cathal lead the way. He hadn't had a friend in a long time, not since the Spaniard he'd met months ago. Like Reiner, he'd gotten stranded in America during the apocalypse, with no way back to his home country. Ramón and Reiner had grown very close. They both fluently spoke each other's languages, and found an odd dynamic where they each spoke only their native tongues with each other, each having to translate the other's words. Reiner certainly missed him, but he held out hope Ramón was still alive. He was a fiery man.
The memories just made him even more happy to have found a companion again, for however long this friendship lasted. Reiner hated being alone.
Cathal smiles brightly at the compliment. “Thank you!” He says cheerfully. Cathal had a thick-ish Irish accent. Him and his family had moved to America a few years before the apocalypse. He missed Ireland, but it was too late to move back now.
Cathal leads Renier to the bunker, crossing over large grassy plains and squeezing his way through the barb wire fence. He grabs a bottle of bleach and starts dousing the areas they had walked through. Cathal smiles, opening the door to the bunker and immediately being greeted by his dog, Teddy.
Cathal laughs, “Hey buddy! Who’s a good boy? Did you miss me?” He pets Teddy, then steps aside to let Renier inside. “Look, we gotta visitor!”
Teddy looks at Renier and sits down next to Cathal, his tail wagging.
"Hallo, hübsches Hündchen," Reiner whispered, kneeling down and offering the dog a hand to sniff. "You are a cutie, huh? What is his name?"
Reiner never had pets of his own. He'd never had the money. Growing up he'd had one elderly dog in the house, his mother's half-blind beagle. That dog had been nearly wholly grey and stiff as cardboard. He hadn't liked being pet, either, and Reiner's fingers had been nipped at on multiple occasions. Reiner hadn't let that stop him from being an avid dog lover.
"How long have you had him? He must be wonderful company," he added, lightly stroking Teddy's ears.
Cathal smiles brightly. “His name is Teddy. He’s my service dog. I’ve only had him for a few years. I found him when he was just a newborn puppy. I bottle fed him and everything.” He smiles at Teddy, a fond, loving smile. “I found his mom and siblings…but…they didn’t make it…he’s a fighter.”
Teddy sniffles Renier’s hand, his tail wagging. He then bumps his head against his hand, letting Renier pet him.
Cathal chuckles, “Good boy.” He pats Teddy’s back.
(omg I'm so sorry I lost this rp but I found it again haha I couldn't remember the title for the life if me ;w;)
"Teddy…Hello, Teddy. Big and strong boy, eh? Good lad." Reiner stroked the dog's ears and smiled at him, ruffling his fur as Teddy wagged happily. "You two are doing good for each other, then. I never had any pets, my mother was allergic to just everything. And then I joined the army, and then, well," he laughed softly. "Now some years after, this happens, and I am not blessed with needing strays as you have been."
He gave Teddy a few final pats then stood up again. "Well, show me around. You don't mind if I stay longer than a few days, do you? I've been exhausted, walking everywhere all the time, and I promise I am useful."
(Its ok!)
Cathal smiles, “Yeah…he’s a good boy…” He looks at Teddy, who leans on Reiner’s leg. Cathal laughs softly, stimming with his hair. He then looks to Reiner and smiles brightly. “Of course you can stay! Stay as long as you’d like. I was really needing some company besides Ted.” Cathal sways as he speaks.
Cathal perks up. “Oh. Well theres not much to show- but here.” He starts taking Reiner throughout the bunker, pointing out his own ‘bedroom’, the ‘kitchen’, a bathroom, some supplies containers with food, clothes, sheets and medical supplies. “I have more…but it’s really just more space for beds or something.” He shrugs, then pauses. “Um…don’t go downstairs though. It’s off limits…”
