Ezra took the rock from him, "Thank you," He took a deep breath and stepped back, "Watch my back,"
Franklyn stepped away from the shed, his eyes scanning every corner someone could walk around. He glanced over his shoulder at Ezra every few seconds, but years of living like this had taught him how to split his attention and focus on multiple directions at once.
With their captors, you never knew when he fist or a backhand was going to come swinging out of nowhere, and Franklyn had gotten used to dodging anything that looked hostile. They all had, really.
Ezra glanced around and froze, Zion's eyes were right on them. Zion leaned on the railing and rested his head on his hand. Ezra was shaking with fear, "W-What is he doing there.. Why are we still standing here.. He should have attacked us already..!" Ezra clinged onto Franklyn's arm.
Zion smiled and started walking around the wall doing his rounds, leaving them be.
Franklyn looked over to where Ezra was staring, wide-eyed, but there was nobody there, and the snow was undisturbed.
He glanced down at Ezra, who was clearly afraid, clinging onto his arm, and gently shook him.
"Ezra? There's nobody there, I was watching. You're ok. We're alright. Break the lock and let's get back to the tent before somebody actually sees us."
He had a bad feeling. If Ezra was hallucinating seeing people, that was a bad sign.
Ezra was still shaking, "Y-Yeah, nothing's there.." He took another deep breath and phased. He lunged at the lock and hit it with the rock, his phases following close behind
Ting! Ting! Ting!
Thump
"We're in,"
Franklyn nodded at him, still facing away from him. "Get what we need and let's go." He was feeling woozy again, and his heart was thumping too hard in his chest. But Ezra needed him to keep an eye out, and Franklyn wasn't going to let him get caught.
He backed up towards the door of the shed slowly, nudging Ezra inside.
Ezra crept inside, "Perfect, everything we need." He grabbed blankets and bread, he noticed matches and grabbed some, "We might need these.."
Franklyn just listened as Ezra grabbed stuff. He noted that the wind seemed to be picking up, which was good and bad. Good, because it would keep their captors in their tents, huddled up where they'd be warm. Bad, because it would make the kids' tent colder.
"Can you carry it all? I can help." he said quietly.
"I've got it, let's go back," He grabbed it all and ran back to the tent. Ezra's limbs where purple and hair frozen.
Franklyn closed the doors and put the lock back on, doing his best to make it look like it had broken in the wind or something. He followed Ezra back, sweeping away their tracks and making sure nobody could follow them back.
He ducked into the tent and immediately collapsed to his knees, his head spinning and his heart pounding. His stomach threatened to empty itself, but there was nothing in it.
He looked up after a moment and noticed that Ezra had started to get really cold. Franklyn wanted to warm him up, but he couldn't. His powers wouldn't generate heat right now.
Ezra wrapped himself in a blanket and passed the food around, his limbs hurt so bad from the cold that he wanted to cry, but he couldn't let the others see. "We should cuddle together to produce more heat," He suggested
(gonna wait for denny or Zaven)
(yup)
(Sorry I was busy this weekend.)
Kira acknowledged the two's return with a gentle smile, her story time with Rawya had been cut short but for good reason. She grabbed the bread gratefully, eating a piece and stuffing the rest into her hoodie pocket for later. She knew Ezra and Franklyn had been having a rough time, so she decided in her mind that it was enough expedition for the day. She swallowed the bread and let out a deep sigh before speaking.
"We should… rest for the rest of today, after we fix up the tent," she proposed. "From there, we can figure out what our next move is tomorrow. Any objections?"
Rawya nibbled on the bread slowly, trying not to rush. Everything in him was clamouring for more, for him to eat it all, but he didn't know when they'd next get extra food. Better make this last.
The cloak around him felt heavy with worry when he saw how cold Ezra and Franklyn were. Ezra was turning purple, for Pete's sake! He hastened to take the cloak off, his cold fingers trembling so hard it took him four tries to undo the button. He held it out to the space between Ezra and Franklyn, unsure which of them needed it more. But they both needed it more than him; he was sure of that much. "Here," he said firmly. "Take it."
Rawya's offer was very kind, but Franklyn didn't know what he was sick with, and didn't want to get his germs all over the cloak. He noted that Ezra had a blanket, so he shook his head at the younger boy.
"You keep it, I'm not cold."
In truth, he wasn't. He was kinda numb, his headache being the worst part right now. His forehead felt like it was going to split right down the middle, and the dizziness was making his stomach upset. He waved off the bread as well, not wanting to eat because he'd throw it up immediately.
Ezra curled up and shivered, Am I really hallucinating..? I swear I saw him..
"The sun will be rising soon, better get some sleep, I bet they'll have some sort of new training for us."
(Poke)
(Sorry, I was sick)
"Yeah, I agree, Ezra. We need to save up some strength." Kira said, glancing over at Franklyn. With that, she curled up and began to attempt sleep, trying to use the howling wind as makeshift white noise.
"Good night," she whispered at last, before falling silent once more."
(didn't even realize it was my turn :I)
As soon as the sun rose, the camp had noticed the broken lock. Zion burst into their little tent and pulled Kira out by her hair, "Kira!" Ezra jumped up and chased after them, as the others did the same.
(oh hello. wow)
(I'm so embarrassed, I thought we were waiting on someone else .-.)
(oh don't be! I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad)
Franklyn scrambled to his feet and tried to go after Kira, but his head was spinning immediately. He dropped back to the ground, insanely dizzy, and swore quietly at his own weakness.
I've got to help them …
