Damien was practically holding his breath the rest of the show. As soon as the last song finished and the band started to head off stage, he was moving, pushing to get backstage. c’mon c’mon c’mon
Eric walked offstage, biting down harshly on his lip, drawing a tiny bit of blood.
"Dude, chill, you're just talking."
"I know, but still."
After getting backstage, Damien waited restlessly for Eric. When he saw him coming back offstage, he moved forwards, heart pounding.
“Eric…”
Eric looked up, eyes wide, not even registering Jack's pat on the shoulder. "Damien. Hey. You were… you were great tonight."
“You-you, too,” Damien bit his lip anxiously. “I really like the first song. It’s new one, right?”
"Y-yeah. I wrote it the other day." He said, hands picking at his fingers.
“The Ramones cover was good, too. Can I ask— what… why did you choose that song?”
please please please
"Take a guess." He mumbled, trying to look anywhere to avoid eye contact.
“Eric. Eric, please look at me,” Damien asked, breath catching. “I think I know, but I need to be sure. Do you want me like the song says? Am I reading this right?”
Eric nodded slightly, but still didn't look at him.
“Oh thank god,” Damien could finally breathe, but his heart was still racing. He stepped closer to Eric. “I was so scared that I was wrong. Please, please look at me, Eric.”
Eric looked up, almost shyly. "I'm sorry. For running."
“Fuck, it’s okay, really. I did kiss you kinda out of the blue,” Damien said with a slight grin, carefully getting closer. “I was just confused as to why you kissed back then ran.”
"I-it's stupid, really." He stuttered out. "I just… panicked."
Damien’s smile softened. “It’s not stupid, something obviously bothered you, and that’s okay. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t do anything you didn’t want.”
"It wasn't you, I promise." He said, looking down again.
“Hey,” Damien said softly, reaching out and gently brushing his hand against Eric’s. “Want to get out of here? We can talk where it’s not so loud.”
"Sure." He said, over-aware of someone's eyes on him. "Out back?"
Damien nodded. “Sounds good, let’s go.”
What am I going to say? Do I just confess? Did I kind of already do that?
Eric nodded slightly, grabbing his wrist and leading him outside.
He’s holding my hand! Kinda… I’ll take it
When they got outside, Damien turned and tugged Eric towards him. “So…”
"I'm sorry." He said quickly. "I-I shouldn't have-"
“Hey, hey, no, it’s okay, Eric,” Damien said, carefully taking Eric’s other hand. “You freaked out, that’s normal. It’s okay, really. You don’t have to apologize, I’m just glad you don’t hate me.”
Eric nodded slightly. "I thought you hated me…"
“I don’t hate you, Eric, never have. Jealous? Yeah. Annoyed about how hot you are? Definitely. But I’ve never hated you,” he gave the other a small, nervous smile. “I actually… like you. A lot.”
