"I dont remember ever practicing it, it just came naturally to me whenever someone a little unusual walked in. Not everyone triggered it though, just people who had something to hide i guess. I remember both my mothers gave off this nice soft feeling." he continued, rolling over. He smiled, burying his cheek in his pillow while glancing away.
"Well, you're very nice, and have nothing to hide so i suppose thats why i dont feel anything"

Damien nodded happily at the prospect, glad his friend was willing to share any potential journey with him.
"So many islands… That's the one?" he raised an eyebrow, not moving his gaze. Figuring out which exactly of the islands he was talking about in the letter was probably impossible, but it was at least nice to know the rough region.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“It’s just a figure of speech. It means that the more you do something, the better you get at it.” she explained, smiling a little as he told her about the feelings he remembered. “Yeah, I guess I'm a pretty open person. I can keep secrets pretty well but I don't usually have much to hide. Especially from you.” she added with a laugh. “So basically you could just tell if someone was a dangerous or bad person.” she said to clarify, though she wouldn't be surprised if there was more to that ability.

Mari smiled back, reaching up to ruffle his hair playfully.
“Honestly, this isn't the biggest chain of islands out there but it is one of the most influential.” she told him. “I didn't think about which one of these he might have been on… I guess I just immediately thought he’d be on this one because it's the biggest and most well-known part of Japan.” she explained as she pointed out, what many people considered, the “mainland” of Japan.

@Kinarymo

"Ohh, i see. But i didnt practice at all, thats the thing" he explained, sinking the bottom of his face in the pillow he was holding tightly in his arms. The boy smiled shyly in it when Mari admitted she did not have anything to hide from him - he considered it a good thing, and was also very grateful for it. He wanted to trust her with all his heart.
"I guess so, like i said i havent met that many people to know for sure. But i can tell you what a mob of angry people feels like." he added in the end, raising a brow while looking away from her.

Damien sank his cheek in the pillow as his hair was ruffled gently, small strands making it on to his face or revealing parts of the previously obscured hole in his face, though he seemed to enjoy it. Despite being away from the world and not having access to any modern cleaning supplies, his hair was fairly smooth, if only just roughly chopped with scissors - most likely the boy's own handywork.
"It's fine if we dont know which one it is, at least we have a faint idea of where he could be, if he's still there." he tried to sound reassuring, although his gaze was fixed on the map. "It's still very far away anyway"

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Maybe not. But it's still something that you could do, so even if you didn't actively practice you still got experience.” she tried to explain, hoping that he understood a little better. She smiled back at his cute little smile. She really did want him to trust her since she wasn't going to hurt him or do anything to hurt him. Plus, she already trusted him so much too. He was so sweet, kind, innocent, and seemed to be very reluctant to hurt her or anyone else especially when she considered his reluctance to drink blood when she had offered. ”I know. It's ok, Damien. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I’ll understand.” she comforted. Even though she didn't have his ability, she could imagine what it felt like.

Mari chuckled a little at his reaction to having his hair ruffled and gave him one more little fluff before pulling her hand away. She had to admit that he was more comfortable and relaxed around her to not worry about his injury… Though she was still a little shocked by the sight. But she was determined not to let him worry about it. “Yeah. He could still be there.” she agreed a little softly with a nod. “I mean chances are that he may have moved a couple of times but he could have ended up back over there. And I guess it is a long journey but it is still possible to go there if we need to.” she assured him.

@Kinarymo

"I suppose thats true…" he hummed, thinking about the possibility of what she said. He wouldnt call it exactly experience, because he had done it so few times, but in the end perhaps it counted as well.
The boy nodded with a peaceful hum, appreciating that Mari didnt push him for more information like he expected her to. It was a very old and distant memory that still shook him from time to time, but he had considered the way he saw it all as useful to the conversation. He surely didnt want to go through it again but it was far away enough he could talk about it without breaking down.

Damien opened his eye again once she was done ruffling it, looking back at the map of the islands.
"You could go there? Wouldnt it be expensive and/or dangerous?" he asked, seeming concerned by the length of the sea between the islands and the main land, recalling his own little boat trip from so long ago. Besides, if his mother was right, people in other countries spoke other languages, and Japad had to be no exception. "And how would we even find him? We're talking about several islands, each with its own population. It could take forever to find one person there"

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“And hey, maybe you can still read or see aura’s when you're around certain people without it hurting you. It might just be a little weaker or harder to get a clear feeling.” she said, smiling a little at the possibility. She obviously didn't know for sure if he could still use even that power without triggering the pain from his injury. And what if he kept falling apart whenever he tried? She bit her lip at the thought. This was all new territory and she felt woefully unprepared for it.
Mari had seen enough tv and movies, as well as read enough books to have a general idea of what an angry mob looked like, and could imagine the suffocating fear-filled rage emanating from the crowd like a toxic cloud. The fact that her friend had been through that was traumatic enough, he didn't need to relive it by telling her about it.

“It’s possible… but, yes, it would be expensive.” she admitted, nodding. When she had been looking up information about Japan to look for his father, she had Google’d the cost of a roundtrip ticket to Japan… Yikes, it was way more than she could afford. Especially any time soon. “Well, I guess going anywhere can be dangerous but I doubt it would be too bad if you're careful. Besides, traveling has changed since you came here.“ she told him. She was sure that she had told him about planes before but she wouldn't mind telling him about them again if she needed to. “It would be difficult to find him but if he's still there then it wouldn't be impossible.” she assured him.

@Kinarymo

"Perhaps. It could be like that. But i wont know until i see someone else" he shrugged, trying to sound reassuring to both her and himself. He was very unsure he had any working abilities left working after his injury, as he had learned to let go and distance himself from them in order to dull the pain. It hadnt been obvious to him until now that he had done so, but it explained away why all of his senses had seemingly dulled over the years following his injury. This aura reading ability could have been part of his now locked vampiric arsenal, but with the threat of his face falling off every time he tried to get close to it, he most definitely didnt want to try and find out. Guess he would have to just sit and wait to see if it was something he could still do naturally, without the use of whatever source of power he had.

"I really dont want to push you to spend anything for me, if its that hard of a mission. Trying also counts right?" he jumped to reassure her, genuinely not wanting to cause her any trouble for an at best probable mission. Best case scenario, he would indeed be there and all they would have to do is wander around until they found him, somehow, while worst case, he didnt live there anymore which meant Mari's money and time would have been all wasted for nothing - and Damien dreaded this option.
"Oh right, you did tell me about the new travelling ways. But still, its a very big task… I dont know if we could make it, really…."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“That’s probably true…” she nodded gently, giving him an assuring smile. She had told him several times that she wouldn't pressure him into seeing any other people until he was ready but she didn't want to sound like a broken record even though it was just as true now as when she first promised him that. “Well, I guess we won't be testing any active abilities until we figure out how to fix your eye, if we can. And I can't think of any more passive ones right now.” she admitted, though she would completely respect his choice if he didn't want to test any abilities again. Considering how shaken up they both were and the potential consequences, she wouldn't blame him at all.

“No, it's ok. I… You're not pushing. It's not that it's hard. I know how important this is and I want to help but… I'm afraid I just can't help in that way for you yet.” she explained. Mari still hoped that there was a way she could either contact Damien’s father or bring the two back together. The boy needed his father… No one should be on their own for so long like this. “If we knew more, I could probably look into hiring a private detective to find him but I hear that they're expensive too.” she added softly, also dreading the possibility that his dad may have moved though she would agree that it was likely. When you live in one place for too long and you don't age like everyone else, that seemed too risky an option and a good way to attract unwanted attention.
“If we had the money, we could make it.” she assured him. “Traveling to different countries isn't as big a deal as it used to be. Some people travel like that just for short business trips all the time as well as taking family vacations there to see the sights.” she explained.

@Kinarymo

"I guess we wont…" he reinforced, slightly less convinced - on one side he was glad he didnt have to anymore but on the other, it sort of bothered him. Damien's perceptions of his vampiric heritage were still a little doubtful, but with Mari's trust he had become a little curious to at the very least try them out and see what he could do, because in truth, he had never fully tested them out. His mother had never made him try them out, most she did was explain some of the things he found out he could do or the ones that his father could, but in rest, he had grown up mostly hiding whatever unusual traits he had from the world.
And now when he finally had been given the tiniest grain of confidence to face the things he had grown to fear, he was in danger of his face falling off in the most excruciating way possible.
"Passive ones?" he asked, brushing a bit of his hair away from his good eye.

Despite the different age they were in, Damien didnt expect her to have any considerable amount of money or resources to help him in any way he needed to, plus the time.
"Private investigator? I dont know if they can help much though… I dont even have his name or know what he looks like… He might have the last name Oletus like me, but i cant guarantee much…" he interviened, kneading the pillow with his clenched hands. Thinking back, he had never asked his mother about the origin of his surname, if it had belonged to her or to his father.
"It must be so cool to be able to travel around the world in a short amount of time… Have you ever traveled anywhere for vacation?" When it came to money, Damien had no clue where to get them, given he had never worked a day in his life. But It did sound lovely to be able to go see places at will.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

She nodded a little, understanding the situation. Though she had to admit, to herself, she was a little disappointed. Not with Damien, of course. He hadn't done anything wrong. It was more just that neither of them would get any answers on what he was fully capable of doing because of his injuries. It was probably a good thing that that vampire hunter was dead, otherwise, she most likely would have gotten into a fight with them over what they did to her friend. Her fists clenched subconsciously for a moment at that train of thought before she pushed it away and forced herself to relax, perking up a little at his question. “Yeah. Passive abilities are things you can do without even needing to think about it. Like, your strength earlier or hearing my heartbeat. I know they required a little more concentration but they didn't need you to reach for your… power to use them.” she explained. “Abilities like shapeshifting or flight, however, are “active” and would need you to do that.”

Mari quickly committed that name to memory and nodded. “I honestly don't know either. Especially if your dad is an expert at hiding. But even if he didn't use that last name, it's still helpful to have. There's usually a record of people, called a census, so countries or even states and cities can keep track of the people who live there… Though I wouldn't be surprised if your dad avoided those.” she admitted thoughtfully. There had to be something…

“Well, nowhere as exotic as Spain or Japan, unfortunately. But I have been to Hawaii before.” she said, quickly flipping through the atlas to a map of the U.S. “I forget which Island it was though but this here is Hawaii and it's absolutely beautiful from what I remember.” she smiled as she pointed out the island chain to him.

@Kinarymo

The boy didnt seem to notice her fists clenching from the angle he was sitting, instead continuing to lay in bed with his jaw propped in the pillow while he hugged it. The headache was here and was buzzing on the inside of his skull like a mad wasp, but thankfully wasnt bad enough to torture him.
"Oh i get it. So passives wont hurt me will they? Since im not doing anything yet right?" he inquired.

Damien was just about to ask why his father would be hiding and from whom when he remembered her earlier statement of how people didnt believe in vampires anymore. Perhaps he was hidden away just like the rest, or dead in worst case scenario.
"What's the name's use then?"

"Oh? Ha-wa-ee? Ive never heard of it." he perked up a little, leaning forward to look at the map in Mari's hands. "Must have been a lot of water… What did you see there?'"

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Well, it's just a quick theory but if I'm right…” she nodded, confirming his assumption as she thought about what they already tested. “Chances are those kinds of abilities could be stronger if you were able to access your power but, obviously, you don't have to.” she quickly added since he definitely shouldn't do that for any ability until they either found his dad or possibly someone else who knew more about vampires and would be willing to help. Though she realized that the second option was unlikely.

Mari looked up at him and smiled softly. “It’s useful because if there are any documents out there with that name, it’ll help us find a more accurate location where he was for a while. We can use genealogy as an excuse for whatever the age of the information is and maybe we could even find if you have any other family with that name.” she explained, growing a little excited from the possibilities. It might still be a long shot but it was certainly looking better than where they were before.

She bit her lip to keep from laughing at the cute way he tried to pronounce the island state’s name. “Ye- Yeah, there's a lot of water but it's absolutely beautiful. You can look out at the ocean for miles.” she smiled. “It was a few years ago, so I don't remember everything but we saw all kinds of things. I do remember the ocean, obviously, and we went snorkeling once and saw a ton of colorful fish and coral… I think I saw a small octopus there too.” she told him thoughtfully. “I don't think we went, but I remember my brothers wanted to go see the volcano.”

@Kinarymo

"No no, i think you might be right" The boy shook his head, noting down in his mind what she suggested. In a way, Mari was in fact right, his memories about his life before might have been a little fuzzy but he did clearly remember having gained a certain dullness in his way of perceiving the world post his injury. It hadnt been too different before that but at the time the change felt so on the nose he took note of it.

Damien went along with the girl's suggestions, internally impressed of the many ways one could find a person nowadays. Documents? Genealogy? How was that one even supposed to work? It almost sounded alien to him, but if it meant finding his father or possibly another relative of his, it was worth a try.
"I wouldnt know what to say if there was anyone else other than my dad… Probably some of my mother's relatives, but i'd be so old for them…."

As Mari talked about her memories to the islands, he tried to imagine some of the possible locations, just to get a feel of what they might be like - instead of asking for pictures that her phone could easily provide.
"What is… Snorkeling?" the boy asked, yawning in his pillow. Although he would have loved to keep listening to her for hours, his body was finally giving up after the unexpected injury's return, drawing him to go to sleep

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

She hummed softly and gave a polite nod to let him know she heard him but she just didn't know how to reply. It felt nice to know that he agreed with her little hypothesis which, she had to admit, was mostly based on her knowledge from certain games and superheroes. Though their earlier tests, followed by “the incident” did seem to prove that case…

“Damien, you look and act younger than me but older than my brothers.” she pointed out gently. “You won't be too old for your family… Though they probably would be confused when you tell them how old you really are.” she admitted with a small shrug. “And don't worry. I understand why you would be nervous meeting anyone else. We're going to try to find your dad first. Anyone else would just be a nice surprise unless you decide you want to meet them.” she promised.

Mari smiled softly at how cute he looked as tired as he was. “Snorkeling is… basically swimming but you wear a protective mask over your eyes, sometimes the mask is big enough to cover your nose too, and you have a snorkel in your mouth so you can breathe as long as you don't go under too deep.” she explained. “It’s quite a view and a snorkel is really just a hollow piece of plastic tubing with a rubber mouthpiece so you can still get air.”

@Kinarymo

Damien sunk back into his pillow, sighing slowly while thinking about Mari's little theory. He didnt know how exactly to feel about his vampiric side, now that he knew more about it - sure, he was still scared to showcase it to others but at the same time he had become curious about it, wondering about what things he could do, simply for the sake of knowledge itself. What would his life had been like, if his injury had never happened? Would he have been a real vampire, perhaps learning it from his dad, if they had met? What was a vampire like in real life, even?

"It's not the age itself im worried about, more like… there's been so much time between us, they probably wouldnt even know my mother existed at all. And me finding them might just be awkward… What if they dont like me? Or worse, be scared of me…?" the boy voiced his concerns. The idea of his mother's relatives did sound nice, but the gap was simply too large to safely cross it without some kind of issue coming along the way. After all, he never saw his mother's family in the time they were together, leading him to believe she was probably not on good terms with them, either that or they were dead.
He was scared to think further than that.
"Yeah… maybe my dad would be a good start… we'll see from there"

"What's the difference between this and normal swimming?" Damien asked, rubbing his good eye with his hand. "Is snorkeling for when you want to see what's under water but you dont have to keep coming back up for air or water to get into your nose/eyes? And what's it like to breathe with a tube? It sounds a lot like using a hollow straw to hide underwater for a long time."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Mari smiled softly at him and shifted so she was facing him without looking over her shoulder. “You look tired, mi amigo.” she said gently, reaching up to comb her fingers through his hair.

She nodded thoughtfully at his point, unable to argue with it. “Yeah, that might be a little awkward to explain. I don't think they would be scared of you. You're too much of a cinnamon roll. But, honestly, they might be… shocked when they see… how badly you were hurt.” she had to admit. When Damien first told her that he had a hole in his face, she thought he meant he was just missing an eye, like a pirate or something. She hadn't expected so much damage… and neither would his family. If he had any other relatives. “That’s still the plan, chamaco. Don’t worry, I’m sure we can find him.” she assured, determined to do at least that much for her friend.

“Just the fact that you have to hold your breath when you go swimming without it.” she answered, referring to the snorkel equipment. “Yeah, that's pretty much it… Of course, there's also scuba diving which is pretty similar but instead of using a snorkel tube you have a air tank on your back and full scuba suit instead of just your swimsuit.” she told him with a brief shrug. “I don't really know how to describe breathing through a tube… except that it feels a little shallower than breathing normally, I guess… But I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the idea started.” she added with a smile.

@Kinarymo

"Mm? Oh… I do feel a little sleepy, probably from the wound. It drained all my energy away, but im alright. Damien replied, enjoying the fingers combing through his hair. He would have probably gone straight to sleep had she not been there, but since she was, he could not bring himself to tell her that. First it might have been rude to Mari, since she'd come all the way to see him and spend together, an effort he did not want to let go to waste.

The boy could agree the injury on his face could make anyone cringe in surprise, given its size and damage extent, but at the same time it would be very weird to try to explain to a normal person why instead of healing properly and turning into an arguably ugly scar, his face looked like a smashed up porcelain doll, even sporting the material's cracks on the edges of his injury where the skin had solidified in a confusingly unnatural transition to the normal soft tissue. That was definitely something that didnt happen every day to anyone, and thats what made it complicated to talk about.
"How am i a cinnamon roll ?" he asked innocently, not understanding the expression. While he didnt have much hope that he could find his father, at least Mari did and that made him smile with a bit of motivation in his heart.

"Scuba diving? Is that for deeper and longer dives?" he assumed, despite not having the slightest idea what she meant by scuba gear.
"Oh i do know what its like, my mother taught me how to do it when i was still with her. Its a little weird but it works well! I havent touched water ever since i got here however…. There are no ponds around, just a stream and the ocean" he jumped at the opportunity, his voice gradually losing excitement as he hinted at the last time he ever ended up in the water, probably with a bleeding face.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“I can leave if you need to get some rest.” she offered softly, still stroking his hair. She didn't consider their time together wasted and she enjoyed the little trek to and from his house. It was a nice getaway from the everyday mundane and a chance to understand more about her friend.

Mari laughed a little when she realized his confusion. “Ah, sorry. It's just a modern figure of speech. It basically means that you are a very sweet and innocent person who wouldn't hurt a fly.” she explained as best as she could since the phrase never really had a definition. “It’s really just something that you can tell about certain people. They either are or they aren't.” she smiled back.

“Yep, you can go really deep with scuba diving. With snorkeling, you're kind of limited by how long the breathing tube is.” she confirmed. She chuckled a little at his story but nodded thoughtfully at his tone towards the end. “I see… Well, I think it's cool that your mom taught you that. I bet it's been a useful skill.” she said before sighing softly. “I want to say I’m sorry about what happened, but I know it's not my fault… Hey, maybe one day we can go to the ocean together.” she offered, hoping to cheer him back up.

@Kinarymo

"I dont want you to go though…" he weakly added, his eye drooping shut as he was losing the battle with his tiredness.

Damien blinked a few times as he looked for the logic in the explanation.
"So it's an expression?" He eventually concluded, looking at Mari with a questioning gaze. "i thought it was some kind of food i never heard of. But in a way it kind of makes sense in a way. Would you count as a cinnamon roll?"

"It was sometimes, but i havent had the chance to try it out since. No need to apologize, please." he reassured her, not wanting her to blame herself for something she had no control over. "You'd… Want that? For real?"
His tone was hopeful, almost moved by the girl's willingness to take him with her to see the ocean, which he hadnt had a glimpse of for more lilely over a century at least.

(So wats tje plan for the future?)

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

She chuckled softly, not too surprised by his childlike answer as she continued running her fingers through his hair. “I know. But I want you to feel better and if that means you getting some rest then…” she shrugged, hoping that he got her point even though she didn't really want to leave yet either.

“Actually, it's both.” Mari nodded, a little impressed by his correct guess. The name was a bit of a giveaway but it was still cool that he picked it up. “I’m pretty sure that the expression started because someone compared someone else to the sweet food. I’ll have to bring one over for you.” she offered. Her cheeks warmed at his question as she shook her head. “Nah, I'm not sweet enough to be a cinnamon roll like you are. I’m nice, sure but I'm also sarcastic occasionally and a little… sassy at times. But it's sweet of you to ask that.” Which kinda proves my point about you being one…

“Don’t worry. I'm not blaming myself for what happened, Damien. I wasn't even born yet… I blame the person who is responsible for hurting you. I just feel bad that it even happened to you.” she explained. “Sure! If you like swimming, I'd be glad to take you to the beach sometime.” she smiled brightly at the idea. Though, she realized, he would probably need a new swimsuit… as well as a mask of some kind to keep saltwater out of his injury.

(Uhm… Honestly, I have no idea. (at the moment.) I guess it depends on how far ahead you mean because I know Mari has a list of places she wants to show Damien but, of course, she doesn't want to push him before he's ready. I am trying to think of some friends that he could meet… By the way, how much “fantasy” do you want to put into this RP? Like are werewolves, ghosts, and/or witches a thing or…?)
(Though I do enjoy reading and writing these cute fluffy scenes where Damien learns more about modern life and Mari learns more about Damien.)

@Kinarymo

He didnt respond for a bit, just hanging on to his pillow while making a small gutural noise, like a child trying to make a hard decision.
"Will you come back tomorrow?" he asked in the end, slightly lifting his face to peek at Mari with his good eye.

"Ah, i see i see. I cant wait to try one" he commented, a little cheered by the idea of getting to eat something sweet that he never tried before.
"But even so, i think all of that makes you amazing" Damien really meant it, as he admired herfor being so full of life and knowledgeable about most things, plus the stories she told about herself.

"I dont know if i could ever blame anyone… I just couldnt. Even that man probably just tried to help the scared villagers, i cant blame him…" the boy softly retorted, shifting again in the bed. "i'd love to, thank you"
Just the idea of going swimming with her made him feel a little happier, despite the tiredness. Perhaps now that he'd be going attended by someone, he'd get to enjoy going there for real this time, not having to hide from every and all people in the dead of night. Perhaps he might even see some fancy fish.

(I was thinking perhaps after this we get to see the span of a few days, until Damien recovers properly - we're doing skips ofc. Then he gets to go out for the first time, either to some place she takes him or to her house for who knows, maybe a sleepover. Fantasy wise, im not sure yet, i do want to introduce more of it but preferably more homebrewed stuff, if you know what i mean. Since i feel those things have been done over and over. I wan some wild ideas, plot twists no one saw coming about popular creatures of myth. You can still add them if you insist, but i would very much like it if there was something different about them)
(Tehee, im glad you enjoy those scenes :"D i was afraid i might bore you to death with so many questions. Its a lovely knowledge exchange ^^ who knows, perhaps later on when they do meet a vampire, Mari will get all her answers about vampires)

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Of course I will.” she nodded assuringly. “And we can just talk tomorrow. No tests or anything like that. Just talking and trying new sweets.” she smiled.

“Thank you. That means a lot.” she said sincerely. “I think you're pretty amazing too.” she told him. He was very interesting. Even ignoring the fact that he was a dhampir, he had lived alone for so many years and had an entire garden of unique and exotic plants, a beautiful and well-stocked library… even if he had read it all. But that made him more interesting. He was very well-read and was a good writer as well from what she could tell from his manuscript.

“You are an absolute gem of a person, Damien.” she said, shaking her head in amazement. “Trying to see something personally traumatic from a more… optimistic point of view for the person’s benefit. I mean, I would try to as well but I would still be mad about it.” she admitted. Mari smiled a little at his affirmation and nodded. “Of course. We might have to get you a modern swimsuit… Unless you have something.” she suggested, raising a brow at the possibility.

(That sounds like a good idea and skips are fine with me. She would probably either take him to the library or something first. You know, something “calm” but taking him over for a sleepover isn't a bad idea either. I’m definitely for the homebrew idea but I don't have any experience with it personally.)
(I really do enjoy it and you're definitely not boring me. I'm looking forward to them meeting one. Preferably, his dad… But if they meet someone sooner that’s fine too. Ps. Sorry it takes me a while to respond sometimes.)

@Kinarymo

"Mmm, okay then. That sounds good" he eventually gave up and agreed, resting his head again in the pillow, under the girl's fingers messing with his hair. While he was sad to see her go so soon, the boy was a little more accepting of the idea that the next time they met, they'd have a peaceful time, without the stress of having another test session, which he would gladly skip for now.

Damien gave a hummed smile, feeling a little good about the little compliment, even though he was more happy about her being happy in general.
"You think so?" he shyly asked, a little hesitant to believe someone would really find him all that interesting in the first place. Perhaps it was the near 2 century gap between them that also contributed? Otherwise he couldnt find anything else remarkable about himself, other than the fact he wasnt entirely human.

Mari's amazement was a bit of a curious case to Damien, who had simply conditioned himself to believe that other's couldnt be blamed for their prejudice because they'd probably been hurt themselves at one point and now just wanted to protect themselves and those they held close. He couldn't hate them for that, just himself for having the misfortune of being one of the things they were afraid of. Mari might not have been able to understand due to her belonging to a different time period, where people thought different.
"A swimsuit? No, i dont have one." he responded. There were no bodies of water around as previously mentioned, and second, all of his belongings were lost a long time ago, when he and his mother were separated. Plus, even back then when he did go swimming, he just took off everything and jumped in.

(Good, that way we wont be stuck here forever just talking about each day. It's been only three days and we alr have 27 pages XD Any place is good, though i suggested a sleepover as in like, not make him walk from and back to his house every day, let him stay the night so they can have a lil more time - later on ofc. As for the homebrew stuff, we can perhaps talk or look for stuff and give them a twist, if you have a discord perhaps we can talk there)
(Yayy, im glad :"D I actually have a bit of an orchestrated idea about how they meet a vampire, or Mari should i say specifically, if you wan hear about it. It's okay, i dont mind, you are probably busy : D)

The young woman nodded at her sleepy friend. “Yeah. It sounds nice.” she agreed softly, glad that he liked the idea. She would stay a little longer, maybe until he was asleep… He looked so precious and calm right now, she felt pretty badly that he had been hurt because of her ideas but she knew there was no changing what had happened. At least they knew for future instances so they could avoid it.

“Of course I do.” she confirmed, smiling sincerely. “I’d give you a list but I don't want to keep you from resting.” she chuckled.

Mari wished she could think the way he did… Actually, she wished a lot of people would think like that. Maybe if they did, things would be better. People wouldn't hurt each other for no real reason, they might even be a little friendlier and more accepting of others. But it was very likely that because of all the battles the world had been through since Damien had lived here, the world wouldn't change that way or be that way again.
“That’s ok. If you’d like, we can go shopping and get you something you’d be comfortable in.” she offered, obviously willing to pay for it when the time came up.

(lol true. That makes sense to me. Mari wouldn't make Damien walk all the way back to his home on his own after inviting him over. Unfortunately, I don't have a discord… But if you want you can P.M. me on this site and we can toss around some ideas there.)
(I would love to hear your idea about Mari meeting another vampire!!! Thanks. Though I'm not always that busy. Sometimes I just struggle with coming up with a good reply.)

@Kinarymo

"How long will you be staying now?" Damien asked, blocking a yawn in his pillow while his eye drooped closed. If Mari intended to leave now, then he wanted to accompany her to the door like he had in all previous days. If she was going to sit here for a while more, he might fall asleep right then and there.
"It's fine, i can still listen…" he protested lightly, trying to shake off his quickly winning sleepiness.

As much as he looked forward to a possible trip with Mari, the boy was still slightly hesitant about having her pay for things for him, but in the end she had the last word since it was her money and he had literally nothing.
"Sure, that would be nice" the reply came, agreeing with her suggestion. It would be nice to see a store, after all.

(Not just that it would be rude or smth, but it'd be rather bothersome :"D Let them have a multiple day session of going places. I initially suggested it cuz discord was faster, but yeah, i'll pm you.)
(Aaa, its okay, i can understand the struggle, its a long one anyway :"D I'll tell u more about it in the dms uwu)
