The barkeeper and her companions appeared in a pearly dome. She clapped her hands together. "Where shall we go today? Oh, wait. Role call please with your name and general likeness."
(May I?)
(Yep)
Adri shrugged her cloak off and gave a rough smile. "Adri." She was short, barely 15 with bright blue eyes that seemed guarded. The cloak shadowed her figure, leaving only a slight straightness. "Care to explain where we are?"
(can I?)
(Totally. Only one spot left people)
“Hey Adri. We are currently in an empty universe. I built the tavern in one of these as does any author while writing their story.” She gestured at the dome. “This one has yet to be filled. It’s the easiest place to stop before we go off.”
"Fascinating." Adri seemed to relax slightly, taking the knowledge and spinning in a loose circle to take in the dome and every detail.
Calix appear and walked over to them. He fixed his cloak that covered his wings. He wore it everywhere but Earth. On Earth he made it a mental effort to have them disappear. "Hello I am Calix." He said and fixed his dark brown hair. "I am also an angel, not personality wise though."
Adri snorted. "Aren't we all." she looked him up and down, judgement shining in her eyes.
(Currently my phone wishes to spell check my OC Calix's name to VALIDATION. No idea why it needs to do this.)
Calix nodded to her. "So what shall we be doing, barkeep?" Calix asked and turned to them with a questioning look
The barkeeper shrugged. "Depends what you guys want to do. Atlantis is always nice. I quite like roaming around in the 1950s. Steampunk era is fun. Take your pick."
Adri rubbed her hands together. "If we're talking time travel, I'm up for anything. Although, there are certain." She coughed slightly. "People. That I might be interested in meeting."
"I'm fine with anything as long as it doesn't involve jumping into a volcano to get something, then afterwards ending up in a prison." Calix said to them thinking about places.
"Who?" The barkeep blurted. "Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Galileo, Oprah? It's not just time travel. It's dimensions too. There's one where Einstein became a pro tennis player. That was a weird bet."
"Well you two are novices to this so let's take a run to steampunk world. That's always fun." The dome dissolved around them and the three found themselves in the middle of a busy marketplace. Their various clothes were replaced with more appropriate ones and Calix's wings disappeared.
"Oh no, no one that important. Just my grandpa. I want a universe where he's a decent, morally correct person." She said the whole thing, getting more and more animated until she was almost shouting. "Sorry. I get worked up."
Calix looked around and smiled. "Fascinating." He said and looked around the area. "I must say I haven't been around the steampunk era before. Great technologies."
Adri looked down, scowling at the clothes. "I want my cloak back when we're done."
"Of course, but the people here would have been weirded out by your cloak," She explained. "Welcome to Kelta. In this world, Victorian futurism actually went into affect." A large bird flew over head before landing on the barkeep's shoulder. Up close in appeared to be an automation of an owl. It hooted st her affectionately "I missed you too Brass."
"So this is like a completely mech world. Everything here is steam powered?" Calix asked and stared at the owl on the barkeep's shoulder
"Steam or water powered." She pointed to the hundred of water wheels lining the canal. "Very sustainable. Takes up space but they have room to spare." She pointed to some trinkets bouncing around on tables and handed both of them some coins. "There's lots to see and more to buy. These will help you make some headway although you need to barter for the bigger stuff."
"Alright. Well I don't think I really need souvenirs."
“You haven’t been around for very long if you still think that.” She spread her arm and the owl took off into the late afternoon skies. The sun glinted off it’s bronze feathers. “I’ve been to so many places that the only way I can keep track is with these so called souvenirs. You can buy food but angels don’t exactly need to eat. Why not get a little pet to take home.” She grabbed a windup dove from behind her. The gear ticked as she twisted it and the bird came to life. It chirped and fluttered up to Calix.
