Kai drooped his phone and caught the falling woman before she hit the ground. He heard his phone crack but he honestly didn't care. He was more concerned with the fact that the legend was real, more so that he was the statue's soulmate.
Mickey slowly opened her eyes, one, then the other. She looked up to see that she had fallen into the arms of a complete stranger. "EEP!" She yelled, jumping out of his arms and landing on her feet. Except, she didn't really land on her feet, rather lose balance and fall to her knees.
Kai gasped slightly and knelt down beside her, "You alright Miss? I'm sorry if I scared you but I didn't want you to hit your head on the ground…"
She stared at him with wide eyes, taking in his appearance and then her surroundings. "Who are you?" She asked. "Where am I? What is this place? What happened to me?"
Kai offered her a small, and soft smile, "I'm Kai," He started, "And you're in New York City, America. And I don't know what happened to you. One minute you were stone and the next… well, flesh."
"What do you mean stone?" She questioned. "I'm a normal human, just like you. But what is this New York you speak of? This soil is of Lysander!" She looked down, suddenly realising that she was on concrete.
Kai tilted his head and raised a brow, "Uh, there's no such place as Lysander. And you were literally a statue a second ago."
"Of course there's such place as Lysander! It's my birthplace!" She slowly started to get up, slightly off balanced at first but then firm-footed after a few moments.
"What's your name, Miss?" Kai asked gently, glancing over at his friend who just shrugged and went back to telling people to piss off and stop filming.
That question made her think. It was the one thing that didn't spring to her mind immediately. "Uh…Mikayla? No, Mickey? I…I don't really remember."
"Okay.. Mickey… how about we get outta here and we can try and find out what's going on?" He suggested.
She stared at him, trying to decipher if he was going to really help her or not. On one hand, he was a complete stranger who she really only knew the name of. On the other hand, he had caught her before she hit the ground and had saved his life. "OK."
Kai held out a hand for her to take, if she wished to take it. New York was big and Kai didn't want her getting lost on the way home. Liam clearly understood and signed to Kai that he was going home and left.
She still hesitated, but placed her hand in his. She took a deep breath, being in an apparently new place, a place that she was scared in. Kai was her only option, really.
Kai gave her hand a small, reassuring squeeze and led her out of the crowd and back the way he came. They had to walk through the park before they walked into the city and hopefully the greenery would relax them both.
Mickey looked around, trying to take in her surroundings. A lot of things had changed since this 'New York' was Lysander, and she didn't know by how much it had changed. Her bare feet seemed to almost seep in the feeling of the ground, or at least to her.
Kai was worried, needless to say. Clearly Mickey didn't know about the curse and the legend which made him worry even more. She had a lot to take in and Kai didn't want her freaking out on him too much.
She looked around, at everything that was so different. There were structures made of hard grey, and there were windows with a clear barrier between them. Everything was just so different.
"I… I know it's different to what your used to," Kai started gently, "But I promise it's not all that confusing if you stick with the right people."
She blushed, but brushed it off. There was no way she liked him: he wasn't her type. Besides, she already had someone back home…the home that apparently didn't exist anymore…
Again, Kai gave her hand a squeeze in reassurance as they headed into the busier part of the city. It even though they weren't in the middle on NYC, it was still busy here.
"Um…Kai?" She asked, trying to get her attention. "Where exactly are we going?"
Kai looked down at Micky and smiled softly, "Back to my apartment, it's safe there."
"If you don't mind my asking," Mickey started. "What exactly is an…apartment?"
"Apartments are like a bunch of little houses stacked on top of each other," He explained, "And that's where I live."
