Amos laughs, then unmutes Ollie. "You better be kinder."
The next thing he says is to Avrey. "So lemme get this straight: you're a servant of Osiris, or whatever god or goddess of the Underworld you believe in, and I know there are a lot of them, but you aren't actually one of Osiris's servants?"
Elijah shakes his head. He'd never been so confused, and that included the time he had gotten lost in the Detroit Institute of the Arts. He kicked away the memory– that had been with her. "Uh, 'Scuse me brother but what– exactly is an Osiris?"
"Some god guy, I think," Gunslinger says. "I'm also very confused though." Her watch beeps, and she glances at it. “Now? Okay, does anone like fruit? I hate blueberries but they won’t take a hint.”
Ollie grumbles a halfhearted “fine”
Avrey thinks for a moment, then nods. “B-b-basically I’m stuck in limbo, o-or the spot between living and dead. S-so I don’t personally know Osiris? But I-I’m like half of what he symbolizes? I dunno. I-I still don’t even know what I am.”
Ollie perks up at the sound of blueberries, gently raising his hand. “I uh… I would like some…”
Amos nods to Ollie, then turns back to Avrey.
"Ah… still figuring out your ren." he says.
Avrey raised an eyebrow. “M-my what?”
"Your ren. As in, your identity." Amos says.
Elijah nods in understanding and claps Amos on the back. He raises an eyebrow. "You've seen things, haven't you, my man?"
Avrey looks down, crossing his arms tightly. “I-I guess so.”
Ollie growls quietly
"Oh, you have no idea, Elijah. No idea." Amos sighs.
He turns to Avrey. "Yeah. Makes sense."
Avrey nodded. "Y-yeah… I-I-I…" He sighs. "I've seen some stuff too."
Gunslinger sighs. "They're LATE." Even as she speaks, an assotrment of fruits fall at her feet: a branch of blueberries, a mangosteen and a couple rambutans, a well as… a furry thing. She hands the blieberries to Ollie, examine sthe rest of the fruit, then stares at the furry thing. "AGAIN?" She turns to ELijah. "Your fault, your bunny. You get the long-eared rodent." She shoves it non eto gently at him.
Ollie licks his lips hungrily while scarfing down the blueberries and grabbing some of the other fruits.
Avrey just stares in utter bewilderment
Amos just stares, then shrugs, his mind accepting this new weirdness. "Interesting."
Gunslinger grabs the magosteen back from Ollie. "Not this one. You can have the others. Does anyone want the rabbit?"
Love, Faith and Hope come back at that point. "Yes."
Amos grins.
"Sure. Don't kill it, a small child wil get mad at me somewhere." Gunslinge rhands them the rabit. "Also, it's name is Kevin."
Faith takes the rabbit and starts petting it. "I love him."
"Good for you. Next time I get another, you can have that one too. I don't even know why I get them." Gunslinger slowly peels the mangosteen, handing the peel to the rabbit. "He likes strawberries and mangosteen. And, weirdly, the taste of rose roots."
Ollie raises his hand again. “Did they send you any guava?”
Avrey is even more confused
Faith, Hope and Love nod and start feeding the rabbit. The rabbit is happy. "We like him!"
"Sadly, no," Gunslinger says to Ollie. "But you can have a mango. Heck, tae any of it, I only like teh mangosteens." She gestires to the pile of fruit. "Oh and not the snake fruit."
Elijah walks over to the pretty ladies and winks at them. Squats down and sits beside them, joining them in petting the rabbit. They remind him of his sister, Charli. Well, she wasn't really his sister, but she might as well have been as close as they had been. Well, he thought with a grin, siblings don't kiss like that. She was his best friend before her death. Before I failed her, he couldn't help but think.
But I won't this time.
"Wait," Gunslinger says. "Five of you now know me by a name that is not mine, which means that - HAH! - I have more than Girlboss now! 843, 217, 692 people. That is at the same time a huge accomplishment and depressing." She separates teh sections of mangosteen and squeezes it, watching the juice dribble out.
"By the way," she says to Elijah, "it's your fault that the seven-year-old boy Kevin used to belong to no longer has a rabbit. Bad things come out of calling me names. BUT" she adds hastily, "I didn't do it on purpose! I didn't even do it. You did, and so did that little boy. I should give him a consolation bunny."
Elijah blinks at her and adjusts his fedora. "How, um… " He pauses, thrown off guard. How did she know…? Was she talking about Charli? He gulped and threw his fake charade back across his face. "What's my fault, you say?"
