YOYOYOYO ME TOO haha
(What are you guys best at drawing?)
people, mostly young adult girls
I'm better with expression work and some scenery. I need work on anatomy and clothing.
I do more anime-like drawings of people. If I have a picture to base of of, I can do realistic of them. Just don't ask for animals. -_- Can't do them.
I can't do animals for the life of me. My art style is slightly cartoonish and a bit like anime but not quite.
yep i can't really do animals either, my style is weird: its like a mix between realistic and cartoon
I'm not sure what I'm best at as I like to try everything, but I'm probably best with flowers because you know, so simple really.
My art style varies, but I like realistic x anime. I have a rough sketchy style, using heaps of short lines. I rarely use coloured pens, though my 2019 goal is to kind of have a feel around and find something I'm comfortable with.
This may sound like taboo to some artists, but I found my art style by copying some of my favorite artists' drawings and fixing a couple pieces I thought could be improved. Then I used the feel I had gotten for those multiple different techniques to make my own art.
That's a really good way to do it: references are your friends.
Some people I talk to are horrified when I tell them I use other art as reference. I don't get it. How else are you supposed to improved other than that and trial + error?
Ikr! I think that people want to be able to take all the credit for their improvement as an artist.

This kind of attitude is so weird to me. My art is always way better when I use a reference. I've heard that some people think it's cheating but even some of the greatest artists used references in their art. Also, nobody thinks it's cheating when a baker uses a recipe which is basically just a food reference.
I totally stole that analogy from somewhere else but it's true
I nearly always use other art as reference. If you look through my sketch book, you can really tell the difference. I'm terrible at drawing by imagination only.
I think that it's important to be able to use your imagination, especially for coming up with poses (which I suck at), but it's also good to look at references and pick out things that you like that you might not have come up with on your own.
I recently discovered that I'm really good at drawing people being stabbed, along with their pain-filled expressions.
Like, the torn clothes are really good and so is the stab wound.
Guys, I don't know what to do, I don't draw things like this, it's usually just a vine or a meme or something. HowDidIGetThisFarOutOfNowWhere?

Hahaha, oh my goodness, that's hilarious! You just like have this random talent? Well, who knows, maybe it will become handy.
And yeah, I've read you shouldn't use other peoples art as reference too much as you can become dependent and won't be able to find you own style. Old habits die hard, though.
The thing is though, that your style can be a mix of lots of things. It could be how one person draws noses, mixed with how another person draws curls at the end of hair, plus a bit of another person's fluidity. If that makes you happy, then what's the problem?
That's actually quite true. I just guess the problem is that I'm too dependent on copying someone else's art and I feel like that isn't a good thing. Though I suppose, once I'm good at drawing, I can slowly branch off onto my own.
What I like to do, is find those 'draw it in your own style' art. They are fun and I find I tend to force myself not to draw it line for line, but actually try to do it my style.
I guess I could understand that reasoning. But I don't become dependent, which is nice. And I've seen those "Draw it in your own style" challenges! I still have yet to try one.
I've done about three, I think. You should really do one.
I’m capable of drawing animals and girls but boys??? I can’t. I just can’t. I need to get over my fear and just practice drawing them but every time I say “oh yeah I can do this” I just end up lying on the ground like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and everything crashes and burns around me and my self esteem hits an all time low and I’m betrayed by my own grandma or something I dunno how but when I try to draw a boy everything dies.
Also some people mentioned poses, there’s a magical tool called DesignDoll that might help you there. It says it’s a free trial but the free trial lasts forever and has everything you can possibly need.
