"Okay mother, may I change clothing?"
(Yeeeeeeet JUST CALL ME DADDY)
"Yes. Go put on that red nightgown, it would look divine with your hair today," Alexandria said before stepping outside and shutting the door.
"Bye mother." Lucinda walked to her bedroom and changed. She picked up her white kitten and returned to her spot on the couch.
Suddenly Alexandria burst back inside, locking the door behind her. "LUCINDA, YOU STAY ON THAT SOFA. DO NOT MOVE." She shook her head. "NO, GET UP AND HELP ME LOCK THE WINDOWS. Stick together now, no going upstairs alone!!!"
"What's happening mother?" Lucinda heard the panic in her mother's voice. "What about all the rest of the pets?"
"Close. The. Windows. I'll tell you everything when your rather gets home."
"Okay." Lucinda did as her mother told her.
"Come, upstairs," Alexandria said once they'd finished the first level. As she and her daughter walked up the steps, she asked, "what were you saying about pets?"
"Where are they, I have Snowball downstairs now, but I don't know where the rest are." Lucinda replied.
"I wouldn't know. Now, windows." She walked off the last step and began closing more windows, concern all over her face.
"May I look for them?" She asked.
"Lucinda," her mother said, a pained expression on her face.
"Mother?" Lucinda looked in her mother's eyes.
"Go get them," she said, turning.
"Okay." Lucinda ran downstairs and rounded up all the pets.
Alexandria walked down the stairs and found her daughter. "Your father should be home soon."
"Okay Mother." Lucinda looked up and held four tiny kittens in her arms.
"Tell me, Lucinda. Are you really ill?"
"Yes, I threw up in the nurse's office. They would have let me leave otherwise. Plus I would never lie." Lucinda responded.
"Hm. Then lay back down– without the animals."
Alexandra turned to walk away, then stopped. "This is a great opportunity to practice your embroidery! I'll fetch the kit."
"Okay Mother, I do enjoy a bit of embroidery." Lucinda sat back down.
