Does anyone know of a good writing site that is free to sign up and where you can upload your stories?

I was with a site called Storybird, but they are changing to paid memberships so I was looking for a new one.

Um-

This one?

Maybe Wattpad would be a good place to turn too.

Why did you reply like 10 times???
Can you actually upload whole stories on here though and have people review them? I just really want to know if my stories are any good.
I'm a little unsure of Wattpad. I posted on there years ago and never got a single review. Unless of course, I'm just a terrible writer. Also the stories on there should be rated 18+. Lol.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to get noticed on wattpad because of how big the user base is. If you don't already have some kind of a following it seems like the only way to get people to notice you is to put yourself out there on other sites.

Writerscafe.org is one that I used to use. They have groups and contests so it's a little easier to get some exposure that way.

Not really, no. We do have the sharing and critique forum where people will post their stories (or little snippets of them) and people will give them feedback, but I feel like that's not really what you're asking.

Yeah, I'm not on any other site besides here and Storybird so it's not like people really look for me. I'm on Pinterest as well, but even then it's not like tumbler or Instagram where you would really get your name out there.

I did try Writerscafe.org a while back. I don't remember why I didn't stick with it. Maybe I should give it a go again. Thanks, for the recommendation though. I think I replaced it with Storybird, because I got way more reviews there and it was a more bright and colourful site. Writerscafe.org was a little plain, though still useful.

And yeah, I was thinking of actual novel kind of stories. Although it would be handy to just have snippets reviewed.

writetheworld.org is a pretty good one, but it's pretty much only for people under 18 since it's specifically a writing site for kids and teens.

  • Pocket Writers (App and website. Haven't used this but my friend did. Though the site hasn't been updated in a long time there are still people on there)
  • Radish (App only. 18+. You can make your stories free or pay to unlock. Search is atrocious though, so your story is very unlikely to be seen if it doesn't have sex or murder)
  • Archive of our own (Website. It's known for fanfiction but it has an Original Work section. Like Radish though, most stories are 18+ on there but you can find good regular stories)
  • FictionPress (Website and I think there's an app too. Fanfiction.net's forgotten sister. For all kinds of original fiction, including poetry. Sorted by genre)
  • Hooked or Tap (App only. Stories get uploaded as texts and a user needs to wait several hours or pay to continue)
  • Wattpad (Website and app. Other people have mentioned it already, but your original fiction is very unlikely to get lots of readers if it's not a romance, and you may need to work to get it noticed. On the bright side, stories that do make it big are often published. One of the most famous ones is even getting a film! The website also enforces plagiarism rules well if your story gets stolen)

@Mercury Beta Tester

Tumblr (Website and app. Sometimes is also used to upload stories by chapter, though you may have to work to get them noticed because of the poor search and tagging system)

The only writing related sites I have are this one, and nanowrimo. I also have an account on nanowrimo young writer's program, which is just 18 and under. Like this site, though, you have to go into the forums and post things there to get them looked at.

I wouldn't recommend Wattpad, because it's impossible to get anything of yours looked at unless it's fanfiction. Archive of Our Own is also basically all fanfiction. I don't know much about fanficiton.net, but judging by the name, it's probably just as bad.

You could start a blog, or a website? I have a blog on Wordpress, and I just use it for posting writing. You could also look for apps. I looked for one a year or so ago, and I think there are a few out there.

Those are all the writing-related sites I know of. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

@Yamatsu

Story Wars exists, and it allows you to start your own stories or add to other people's works. You would write something, then other people submit their pieces for review and put it to a vote. There's an unlock system that gets you things like a Dark Mode, but it requires you using this site RELIGIOUSLY and doing a lot of things for other people to get it. Tagging is weird, and unless you're already super popular, expect to get buried underneath the many already-complete or mostly-complete stories. It's good for practice, though! You can also add on to your own story with another chapter, but it won't be applied unless the whole writing and voting this happens first.

@shattered_heart

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'm gonna try Wattpad but if I don't get any reviews within a few months, I might just forget it. Problem is, I don't feel inspired or motivated to write unless I'm continuously getting positive comments. I just wish people enjoyed nice clean stories and didn't think it had to be rated 18+ to be interesting
