I'm writing a scene where my characters are playing would you rather, as a "road trip" game (they're not actually on a road trip, my world has no cars…and they're not on the road.) Help me brainstorm questions that while fun, could be v good for character development and/or foreshadowing?
What would be foreshadowed? Fears? Relationships?
Either- I'm looking for ideas that could just go along generally with the hero's journey, or ones that I could bounce off of and make more specific to my book.
I have one significant one so far, "Would you rather be a nobody with a happy life, free of hardships, or be a hero who has to face their fears and almost insurmountable trials?”
Does it take place in space or something, cause you said there is no cars and roads?
No, it's in a pre-modernization world. There are roads, but the characters are currently traveling through a forest, so there's not really a path
You could bring up one of the character's fears, like (let's say a character hates spiders) "Would you rather swim through a pool full of alligators or get locked in a box full of spiders?"
And the responding character could shudder and be like, "Alligators for sure. I am absolutely terrified of spiders”
I know the example is kinda generic, but it’s an idea.
Thank you! @Rvan<3 I'll be sure to add that in. I'm kind of trying to aim for one question that will dig at each character. I have 4 playing the game, and two questions that address one each, so I'll use a would you rather (insert fear here) for one of them!

Also, @kat_i_am, maybe you could discover their insecurities and dreams the same way? Like. . .
"Character one," character two announced loudly. "Would you rather show up to school naked or get pantsed in front of your crush?"
Character one thought the question through. Neither option was ideal, of course, but Would You Rather was Would You Rather, and he/she needed an answer. Not mentioning anything about his/hers body confidence issues, character one declared, "pantsed in front of my crush."
Idk. Just an idea 😁
