forum Tips for Planning Out Your Novel

I'm making this so maybe we can share ideas on what works for us while working on our stories.
I just started doing this a few days ago and it's helping me a lot. So, to help with my world building and planning out of my novel I am using Excel to create a timeline. The program comes with a few templates and I used one of them for the design. It's really helping because I can use it to plan out important events in my world and I can create timelines for each of my characters. It also allows me to move around scenes and events if one suddenly needs to happen before another.
Is there anything that has helped any of you?

This method of moving events is da best. In addition to that, writing questions on any event, and trying to answer them helps a lot to come up with new events, characters, and motivations.
