Welcome to Sorrel's Writing Snippets! Here, I will share small bits of writing that come to my mind, including various characters of my own creation. Use parentheses to separate your comments from the writing, please. Also, feel free to give some rash critique. I could care less about offense. "Enjoy the show.~"

[ Pathway to the Past : Part 1 ]
[ Did This Happen? ( Yes ) | Unsure | No ]
[ Characters Included So Far : Star, Sorrel, Akira, Dashan. ]

Star Solario Takane stood at the edge of the sea. Sakura Shores was stunning during the day, but at night, the gems of the sky made it feel even more exquisite. He listened to the waves lapping at his feet, and the growing sounds of nature. These melodies all sounded like music to him, and they persuaded a smile to house itself on his face. He looked upwards, and allowed the subtle glow of the moon to take control of the moment. For the moon, though grey, illuminated the beach as if it were the brightest light.

In the moment, a small moth found its way onto Star's face. Star blinked at it, as if to have given it butterfly kisses. "Hi there, moth. I'm Star. What brings you to the beach at this hour?" A subtle flutter seemed to suffice as a reply, the five year old loved it. "I see. My dad used to come here all the time. He said little things like you warned him of stuff, or showed him the way to things he never could have found by himself." Star said, cheerfully. He hadn't had something terrible happen to him, and his entire past seemed pretty sweet to him. The moth flew off of his nose, and towards a darker part of the beach, the abandoned woods.

He started off following the moth, before stopping at a path. Wooden fence posts lined a dusty path into the forest. He had not seen that corner of the beach before, nonetheless been close to the woods. He edged closer to the posts, holding onto one for support. The post fell down as soon as it was touched, and spooked Star a lot. The kid shrieked loudly, and a form of simple fear came into his eyes. "That was a close one," He mumbled, as if the post was an obstacle he'd come to face. Oh well, at least it was a success. The moth pushed Star to follow it into the forest.

Star's eyes filled with worry. His parents could care less about where he was, Sorrel and Akira were too busy fighting over a divorce or something else anyways. His "babysitter" had decided to go to the bar instead of taking care of him. Dashan was really sweet as a person, but had priorities that seemed to take over the job at hand. Star shook his head, and reluctantly went inside of the woodsy path, in search of the treasure he may find at its end.

(Woah. Sorry I didn't look at this right away, otherwise I'd have praised you earlier! Great job! I can't wait for more!)

( Thanks! Time limits me and I'm really slow right now, but thanks! )

[ Did This Happen? ( Yes ) | Unsure | No ]
[ Characters Included So Far : Star, Sorrel, Akira, Dashan, ??? ]

As Star went further into that abysmal, dark place, he seemed to be noticing… lights. His eyes glittered with wonder at what he was seeing. "Hey moth, maybe you did lead me somewhere cool." He said, with an edge of excitement lacing his words. Much of his suspicious air lost its grip of him, and childlike amazement flooded back into his personality. He quickened his exploration pace, then, as he began to jog along a semi-clear path.

He laughed as the moth fluttered around, going in circles towards its destination. "Oh moth, you're so fun. I wish my friends were like you." He exclaimed. The moth went back to him, swirling around his head before continuing on towards wherever it was going. Star would surely be going on about moths- weeks and weeks after this. Suddenly, however, he stopped, just before a clearing.

It appeared to have been recently mowed. Butterflies and moths of all sorts took flight here, various flora quite obviously contrasting their appearances. Star gasped, and looked around carefully. If the area had been this clean, someone was bound to have been there. He mysteriously eyed a tent formation in the back of the clearing. It looked almost Arabic, give or take in the little French designs that were intermingled with it. Something felt off about the area, and Star knew he wanted to figure it out.

As he stepped in, the darkness of night reverted to day. From the new day to night, time was completely being reversed. Star looked around, crying out in shock. Star shut his eyes, to avoid witnessing what was happening, for it scared him, a lot. Before he knew it, his entire world was folded over, and he was sure he'd gotten squashed. As he opened his eyes, he stood in a cloud filled area, where many different colored stars surrounded him.

"So, you've finally come here, I was wondering when I would see you," Said a quiet, monotone voice. Star glanced at the being that stood in front of him. The man looked familiar, despite the cloak. As the male pulled his entire cloak off, Star realized who it was. "Great grandfather..? You can't be alive, can you? Dad told me you died." He gasped. "Well, let me tell you one thing, I'm not alive, and I'm most certainly not dead." The man snickered, as he felt completely at ease with the other. It had been a while since he'd last seen a family member, and this was the first time even viewing Star.

(This is…there are too little words in the English language to describe what I just read. Also, you might have to either say that the last quote was said by the great-grandfather, or have that as an entirely new paragraph–that way, it'll flow easier (in my eyes, and my opinion might not always be right, so don't feel compelled to listen to me.))

( You're right, I should clarify! It makes perfect sense, thank you! Also, thanks for your support, it's honestly amazing. )

(^^^ Agreement. I wish I could write like that, but I don't seem to have the time or ideas.)

( Time's awful to find. As for ideas, I drew all my character ideas from anime of some sort. I don't know how I think of prompts and sentences, though. )

[ Pathway to the Past : FINALE ]
[ Did This Happen? ( Yes ) | Unsure | No ]
[ Characters Included So Far : Star, Sorrel, Akira, Dashan, Armin, Starzie ]

Star giggled, and edged closer to the other male. "You don't look like dad, your hair isn't even white! I thought all old guys had white hair." He joked, reaching up at the guy's arms. The elder gently lifted Star off of the ground, and rocked him effortlessly in his arms. "I'm different than them, Star. I'm Armin." He whispered, softly. He brought his hand to the young child's face, and suddenly, created a star, out of what seemed to be thin air. Star's body rocked with bewilderment.

"If you ever feel lonely, this is Starzie. Starzie will accompany you through your life, and, if I'm correct, shouldn't be able to die until you do." He told the child, who caressed the floating black star gently. "Starzie, you should thank Armin for making you for me," Star told the creature, teaching it some form of manners. The star turned towards the older man, and seemed to have bowed. "Perfection…" Armin whispered, before letting Star back onto the ground.

Star's glance was cast around the area, his expression lost. "Armin, you know, Sorrel and Akira might be wondering exactly where I'm at right now. I don't think they would want me talking to you this late at night…" He sighed. He looked sadly at the little star that would be set to accompany him during his life. "Your panic skills are late. Disappointing." Armin whispered, as he crouched to get to Star's level. Star backed up a few steps, before realizing the clouds had formed a wall behind him.

Armin noticed the minuscule child's shivers of anticipation. The youngster wasn't just worried about what was happening then, he was looking into the future, planning how to come back from the moment. "Would you like me to walk you back home?" Armin asked. "Sure, of course," Star replied with a stutter. He eyed Armin closely, watching his every moment. Armin graciously straightened back up, and reached a hand out to Star. Star took Armin's hand, and Armin began to walk towards a very bright place.

'This is it, I just died out in that forest, someone mugged me, and my body was destroyed.' Star thought, as he noticed his surroundings disappearing into the light. "Remember, my Star, to always stay in the light, for the dark is unforgiving." Armin said, almost completely soundlessly. Star turned to the side, only to notice that Armin was no longer walking him, it was the star that stayed in his grasp. "Starzie, I hope Armin is okay… He just died, too…" He whispered, eyeing the star in his palm.

Before Star knew it, he couldn't see. His world was very dark, almost perfectly blackened by night. He felt like… no… he knew his eyes had been shut. Was he at the place where dead people go? He opened his eyes, afraid of what he would find. Instead, he woke up in his bedroom, surrounded by only familiar items. Armin was nowhere to be found. "Was it all real, did I really meet my great grandfather?" Star asked, as his eyelids drooped once again. As he fell back asleep, the star in his hands revealed itself, as the only thing that remained of the dream, that had been brought to reality.

( Thanks! It all came to me randomly, most of it makes sense. I'll have to work on loop holes, though. )

[ A small idea for a song, came to me in a dark time. ]

(Verse 1 Idea)
I remember being by your side,
I remember how the days went by-
I recall how you would always try,
You didn't have to fly away,
what a sad, sad butterfly.

You always led me in the sky,
You took me just a mile high,
You never let me remain shy,
I recall your beautiful lies,
you always left me with a sigh.

(Chorus Idea)
I miss you, oh I miss you,
during the dark, during the light
oh why is it this way, I shalln't spite,

I want you, oh I want you,
why did you go, why did you die,
I'll break the array, I'll put up a fight.

[ And that's all I have. ]
