Hey guys, so a bit of background: I really like writing thrillers and my most recent slice of life stories aren't cutting it for me, so I'm setting them aside to start a new story that can spark my creativity. Now, here's where my problem arises: I want to scare people with this story. I want to make them think "what if that happened to me?" and be terrified of the prospect.
So, here poses my question: What scares you?
Loneliness, separation from friends and family, not being accepted, disownment from my parents, ruthlessly aggressive people who can-and will-use force to get their way. And (sadly), alive and dead bugs, mice/rats, or anything that is skittish or freaky. Dead animals in general.

This is great, thank you! I'll definitely include some dead animals, since those scare me (and make me sad). I'm thinking something along the lines of demonic activity as well. Possession, destruction, suspense, the whole shabang.
