So, I really want to include some LGBTQ+ stuff into my current writing project, but I’m afraid of judgement. I know what to say, but I really don’t want hateful feedback (I’ve had enough of it for my sexual orientation itself). I know, as a write, you should be ready for the hate and there will always be someone that will hate it, but I don’t know. Should I write it or not? Please tell me your truthful opinion.

@WriteOutofTime

One of the most important rules of writing: Write honestly. Forget the fact that there may be readers out there who will loathe your writing because inevitably, someone will. If you include LGBT+ characters, someone will hate it. If you don't, someone else will hate it. Write what feels authentic to you, write what you know, write what you want to write.

(In my opinion, representation in fiction is extremely important. So, go for it.)

@cami

the only people who are going to hate you for including lgbt characters are homophobic/transphobic/etc idiots whose opinions don't matter.

write what you want to write. i can almost guarantee in this day and age that there are significantly more people who will rise to your defense than there are that will hate you for writing honestly.

@Lord_Dunconius

Some people won't like having LGBTQ characters in the stories they read. Those people can go screw themselves.
Representation is more important than their idiotic opinions.

@caity.taytay

If you know what to say and you don't make any offensive comments in your writing then I personally think its ok. Don't let the thought of judgment stop you from writing something you want to.

@JordenMor

Go for it! If hate comes your way, take refuge in the fact that they don't know your life! Also, if you need it, I'll back you up on this. If you need help, you can always ask people on here.
Fun fact: I'm Bi and I'm dating a guy. My cousin is Bi and dating a girl. If you need anything, we can help.
You got this. I support you!
