Yeah, that's fine
Oliver slid into his seat just after the bell rang. “Late, Mr. Mercado.”
“Sorry Mrs. Sanderson. My morning workout went a little longer than expected. Do I need to get a late slip?” Oliver asked innocently.
The middle-aged physics teacher pursed her lips in thought. “Don’t let it happen again,” she snapped, and turned to the board. “Welcome back to Advanced Placement Physics. Today we will be learning about . . . ” Oliver tuned out of Mrs. Sanderson’s intro and leaned forward to whisper to the girl sitting in front of him.
“Pssst. Lila,” he whispered into her long black hair, tapping her on her shoulder. She ignored him, focusing on her notes she was taking. “Yo. Salazar.”
“What do you want Mercado?” she finally asked through gritted teeth. Her voice was hard and hushed.
“You shot me,” he stated to the back of her head.
“Yeah, well you smashed my robot, so we’re even.”
“Yeah, well you shot me,” Oliver said, his voice rising a bit.
“Hey,” she hissed, finally turning around. Her grey eyes were fierce. “Keep it down! Someone could hear you.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that you shot me,” he shot back, his brown eyes meeting her glare.
“Can we talk about this after class?” she hissed quietly, her eyes darting around.
“Fine,” he sighed, settling back in his seat and running his hands through his dark hair.
“Okay, what do you want Oliver?” Lila asked. The class had ended and they stood by Lila’s locker as she grabbed her books for her next class.
“Look at what you did,” he said indignantly, shoving the collar of his flannel shirt down over his shoulder to show her his hastily bandaged arm. “You shot me! And while I was down, nonetheless!” he hissed.
“What do you want me to do about it, Oliver?” Lila asked, closing her locker and raising her eyebrows. “I’m not a doctor.”
“Yeah, but I’ll bet you know more about medical stuff and laser wounds, or whatever the hell that was, than I do,” he said, raising one eyebrow. “Am I right?”
Lila rolled her eyes, sighing. “Probably. Do you have a free period today?”
“Yeah, right after this one.”
“Perfect, I’ll look at it then. Meet me in Room 7.”
“Okay, thanks. Should I do anything for it in the meantime?”
“Just . . . ” Lila thought for a moment. “Try not to move your arm too much.” Lila walked away, her combat boots echoing loudly on the tile floors of the hallway.
"Ah. Thanks," Oliver called to her retreating back, pulling his flannel shirt back up over the bandage. "Yeah, that is really helpful Salazar, thank you!" he called out at her.
In response, Lila raised her hand above her hand and flipped him off. She turned her head and smirked at him, then sauntered off. Oliver rolled his eyes and shook his head, smiling.
Oliver's next class seemed to take hours. He could have sworn the clock was either slow or broken. When it finally ended, he skipped his free period and went straight to Room 7, which was empty at the moment. And locked. He stood outside the door, unsure of what to do. Lila should have been there already. He twisted the tarnished gold rings on his fingers nervously. After two minutes he heard the familiar, distinct click of combat boots against the floor. He looked up in relief. “I’ve been waiting here for way too long, where have you been?” he demanded a bit dramatically.
“Calm down,” Lila rolled her eyes. “I had to get out of my class.” She pulled a keychain out of her pocket and put one of the keys in the lock, unlocking the door. Oliver looked at her in shock.
“Wait. What?” he sputtered, his eyes narrowed in disbelief. “Where did you even get those?”
“Don’t worry about it,” she said, walking nonchalantly in the empty room. “Lock the door behind you,” she called over her shoulder.
I just realized I write a lot of dialogue.
No, that's okay, sometimes a lot of dialogue is needed to break up lots of description/action. I like it ^.^
I think I'm gonna make the PM now, which means I'm no longer accepting anymore people to collab
