Hello, so I have a plot, and it seems workable with, I actually kinda like it… But, I cant write.. I dont know, I usually write a lot, but nothing thats meant to be this long… I feel like I would be fine if I finished a couple of chapters, but I dont know how to get there…..

@9th Overlord

When i start anything that seems overwhelming, i break it in parts and only focused on the one puzzle piece. I get as much down on paper as possible next. It doesn't matter if its not a lot, because after i get my ideas written, i leave it for a couple days, then return with fresh eyes and expanded mind. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me. Just remember to stay positive and not be too hard on yourself when you return to the piece :)

@thehobbit

when I sit down to write anything, be it an essay or a novel, the very first thing I do is "brain dump" I literally write down all of the plot points/ paragraph points, resources im citing/ scenes I know I want to include, Characters and stuff/ litterally everything
I essentially do a really messy outline and then plosh it from there

if that's not your thing then something to remember is that when writing, especially on a computer, you dint have to start at the beginning, in fact, it's best if you dont, you wont know where to start. Instead you can write scenes out of order. you can write that one really emotional scene that you have the ability to write right now and write the expositional beginning later. You can write the ending first…. you can start anywhere and just build from there, connecting scenes into a first draft as you go.
also….. important to note that first drafts arent even necessarily first drafts, they can be 'zero drafts' a foundation with all the basic materials you need that you can build off of as you progress in drafts.

hope this helped at least a little, sorry for the late reply. Good luck writing!

Hey, so this isn't advice that I see given a lot but this is what works for me: Sometimes your skills as a writer don't yet match what's in your head. And that's okay! Because writing skills can grow!!! So what I do is write down my idea so I don't forget it, add to that idea whenever I think more about it, write smaller and easier things until I think I can handle writing what I've come up with well, and then do it then. Really my advice is just wait until your skills grow, I guess, which is pretty simple advice but maybe isn't something anyone but me wants to do.
