From actual physical danger or the mental danger of themself? I'll speak of both since you didn't specify and how they each would save each other, since I have two MCs, Endel and Elyzabeth.

Endel saving Lyzy from physical danger: He would probably wrap his arms around her and teleport them someplace safe. Or try to intimidate the danger into backing off before doing so.
Endel saving Lyzy from the mental danger of herself: He would hold her and compliment her, telling her that it would be ok. That he's there for her.
Lyzy saving Endel from physical danger: Since she was originally from a big city, to feed her need for adventure, she was part of a live action roleplay group. And, they went by the rule that you have to actually be physically able to do it to say you've done it. So, she can actually wield a small, steel sword and therefore kick butt. Which she has done to rescue Endel and then teleport away.
Lyzy saving Endel from the mental danger of himself: He doesn't really go through anything like that, but if he did she'd be by his side in a heart beat. She would be silly and ridiculous to get him to cheer up some before actually talking about the problem at hand.
