forum How do you find out the genre to your story?

I've been having trouble coming up with the genre for my story. I know all the pieces aren't put in place yet, but I think knowing the genre of my story will help me strengthen it. Any tips?

It depends on what your story is about. There is fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery, horror, and a few others that I can't remember.

Fantasy- fictional place that usually has magic or other supernatural objects.
Sci-fi- futuristic or in-space story
Romance- I think this one is self-explanitory
Mystery- detective solves a crime/crimes throughout the story
Horror- frightens, scares, startles the reader
