The opposite of friendship.
This two girls have a friend in common but they end up disliking one another. Though is mostly one sided, I want to avoid the generic bullying but they must have some sort of friction and have something on the lines of " omg when I first met you a thought you were so annoying" that most best friends tend to have.

So, the MC tries to reconnect with that one common friend but gets blocked by this "friend n.2" or even this one just walks away whenever she approuches, weakening the trio. That's the start of their relationship, a cold war, however something must happen! Something not entirely the MC's fault but definetly related to her! What could that be?
(Also, MC has a magical mcguffin, she doesn't know is magical yet, so "the happening" can be related to that but isn't mandatory.)

Any other tips to make it harder for them to get along?
(I can say more things about them)

@Katastrophic group

if they're meant to be friends in the end, then miscommunication is key! Like with what you said, something happens that's not the MC's fault. Make the frenemy think it's their fault or that they had something to do with it. Have joking insults come out as jabs, make their cold demeanor for each other impact things that aren't intended. For example, say one does better on a test or a task, have their "cold war" outlook make the other think it was purposely to spite them.
Hope some of these suggestions help :)

It did! The MC is actually a non-confrontational type of character, however the cold war can be a nice set.
(MC is a friendly extroverted kid, and the frenemy is just a kid being forced by her older sister to succed and have relationships that can pay some benefit in the long run.)
