So I have an idea and a band of characters that I need to write out, but I have no idea how to approach it and develop it into a story that can be planned out and eventually written up. Any advice?

Probably adventure/fantasy? I've literally only got the basest idea, I know I want it to be a separate world and I have one element of that universe

Alright! Can you tell me a bit about the world they live in?

Sure! So I was thinking a renaissance-type time period in an oligarchic country. Loads of peasants, normal humans, and the nobles, usual stuff; I might want to add some stuff to this so it's less 'normal'. Then there's the Dyszui, creatures birthed directly from a part of nature (kind of like nymphs). Example, I've got one character who's Lysia, Daughter of Dusk, and then another who's Kohmir, Son of the Raven and so on. I picture the Dyszui as kind of militia soldiers, but I don't know what they'd be fighting. Plus the general people don't know they exist

How about more malevolent nature spirits as their enemies?

Yeah, that's possible… the thing is I don't know who they'd be? Should they just be children of random things but cruel? Because at the start, right, I had the 'Night Children' who were the children of the natural elements considered dark and evil, but then Ravens would be considered dark and Kohmir isn't (completely dark).
