Hey I'm writing an essay and need a bit of help with a certain thing. The sentence is something like:
"Bill is talking about another person('s), Tim('s), idea for some reason."
Do you guys know which one the apostrophe S goes on?
Because Tim is just added in as an extra clarification, I would actually cut either person or Tim from the sentence entirely. (I would cut person because tim is more exact). This site does not actually address your exact question, but it is good nonetheless https://www.scribendi.com/advice/using_apostrophes.en.html.
If having both best captures your intended effect, then the apostrophe and s would go on both.
I’m no grammar expert, but couldn’t u take out “persons”? (See idk what to do with that question mark).
