Does anyone else start a story with such passion, and you want to work on it all the time, but…then you just stop? And it seems pointless to finish it? How could I stay engaged with writing a story, and not get burned out?

Oh, that happens to me constantly! Here are a few things to help:

  1. What do you love about your story/what excites you about it? Make sure to remember those things!
  2. You love your characters—remember that, and remember why!
  3. Stay invested in the events of your story—work on plotting and fleshing things out, and get excited to write the next parts.
  4. Keep writing, even if you don't want to! If the story is still worth writing, then write it! Keep the ball rolling. My writing is never very good when I don't feel like writing, but you can always go back and change things, or rewrite segments. The important part is to keep going.
  5. Don't be afraid to change things about your story! If your story isn't interesting to you anymore, think about why. Are there things you could add or take out that would make it better?

I hope this helps :) Happy writing!
