Knowing they’ll come back if he moves

Sitting on the cold floor. Still. Waiting.

the shadows moved, the walls fell, silence

Waiting, hoping someone, anyone, would find him

a little girl slowly appears by him
"I will help you but only today"
no walls, no lies, finally, someone real
the pain sliding away the walls fading

reaching out in pain, accepting her help,
A great white light, bright and binding,
appearing at the entrance of a cave. (outside of it anyway)
looking inside, watching the crumbling jade maze.
He saw the girl, just standing there.
She seemed very familiar, but from where?
the cave itself collapsed into the ground.
He finally knew, it was his daughter
but she's dead, she died in a cave
she said it was a great maze,
soon after that, a terrible tragedy struck
crushed by rocks, trapped in a cave

She wasted the one chance she had.

I shouted out, and then she was gone.
I know it's eight words, but still
