I stood up faster then I'd thought possible and slamed my fists to the desk, I was top of my class for years! "I demand a re-count!" This couldn't be happening. no no no, they can't ship me off." The lady that had graded the tests gave am an amused look,
"number?"
"3759." my voice came out angrier then I'd attended it to, but I was angry.
The lady didn't let his smile slip as she read my grade, "ah yes, Vera number *3759. you failed with a 30 percent."
no. The world spun. They where going to send me away, I would never see the outside again. I'd be a tool. Forever giving birth to children I'd never get to see. no.
I finally realised why the world spun, it wasn't my shock, it was the needle that'd plunged into my neck. A sedditive already taking effect.
no. darkness took hold, my fate was decided.
Just something from a book I've been writing and developing, its not that good. But I'll re-write it eventually.
Wow that was intense
I act love it
(I wrote this for fun when I was trying to redesign a robot character)
"Why won't you give me a new body, mom?" J wailed to Ada. It was the 10th time he's asked today since seeing an advertisement on TV advertising yet another new Apple brand robot that was described as 'sleek' and 'artisan' in an attempt to bring out those current buzz words. As he cried out again and again, his voice progressively started to sound less like a typical whiny robot to more of a metallic scraping sound as if the clutch of someone's car was about to give out to his master.
Ada began to groan in a loud exaggerated huff "We've been over this already today." Her words were long and drawn out trying to match J's tempo in hopes that it would somehow stick in his memory better. "Tell me what's really wrong. Are you just stuck in a loop? Stack overflow? Need a reboot?," she slowly walks closer to him with her arms out trying to give the impression that she was in control. "Even if I wanted to give you this luxurious, clean, and sleek body, you should know by now that nothing that ends up here is ever clean and pretty! It's that simple!" Her eyes were now locked with J's one although a little offset due to their size difference. Nonetheless, Ada still managed to make J feel like he was two inches tall. If robots had tears, they would be beginning to fill the glass that shielded J's optical sensor. After all, he was pretty much just a child albeit one made of various metals.
"Even if you wanted to?" J quoted Ada. "You mean you don't want me to have a beautiful body?" He began to sound more upset than normal. The motors in his hands started to spin up since he didn't have the joints in his claws to make a fist. It was actually more threatening than he thought it would be when he saw his mother figure cautiously walk backwards with her hands up and in front of her showing a state of surrender. She must have figured, maybe if she did this, J would follow as he normally tends to do. J takes his tone down a notch before continuing to speak, "I just want to be the best I can be."
With Ada backed up to a considerable distance now, the spinning in J's hands decelerate into a clicking stop. He puts them down when he begins to feel not only his own shame, but the more complicated feelings that Ada wasn't so good at hiding behind her normally strong demeanor. Of what he could understand though, it calculated out to fear, and a hint of guilt. As bad of an adoptive mother she was, she was still not made of metal and still had a full range of emotions. The tension in the room dwindled to the point where it's atmosphere resembled more that of a room full of dogs who just got yelled at for raiding the toilet paper stock again. "I'm sorry," J murmured.
"No, J. You didn't do anything wrong." Ada replied, putting her hands down and stepping forward once more. Speaking again before J would try to object. "I get it. And it wasn't just the fact we can't afford newer parts for you." Ada paused for a deep breath and to let her mind catch up with her mouth once more. She felt that J deserved an immediate explanation, even though she didn't want to admit it. "Shit…It's also because I feel like you wouldn't be the J I know if you got those parts. Alright? I said it. I'm sorry."
J takes a moment to comprehend Ada's fast paced words. Running it though his mind a couple times just to make sure he heard every word. His silence left his master nervous. Maybe she was right the first time. Maybe he did just really need a reboot and she didn't have to spill the beans. It only built up more until J spoke again.
"I guess…when you think about it, I really am not a J unit if i had a body like that. I would be an Apple brand bot. I would be a Siri V."
"Ehh, it doesn't exactly work like that, but to me, it does," Ada responded after debating whether to tell him the logical truth. She approached him once more to knock on his metal shoulder, kind of proud of J for understanding and herself for defusing the situation between herself and a heavy machine that could crush skulls effortlessly if he so wished. J just looked down and perked his ears up as if he were smiling.
"Now come on. Lets teach you how to use that grenade launcher module I installed last week. Sound good, J?"
"That would be totally awesome!" J shouts and jumps with joy as they walk to the firing range.
