When someone is mummified by being frozen, say while traveling in Antarctica or somewhere cold, will their eyeballs decay?
I know the Egyptians would take out the eyeballs when mummifying people because they go bad fast, but that’s because the climate is so drastically different than Antarctica.
Consider this a dumb question, but I asked it, so if you have the answer or a simple hypothesis, please tell me.
…. I want to say no. Frozen is frozen. There is science to this but…. ya. Decay is due to elements wearing it down, bacteria ect. But being completely frozen through i feel like it would take a great deal longer to decay. It preserves more or less. There are a lot of well preserved mummies that have been frozen in our history maybe start there?
Eyeballs are basically two globes of jelly, so if jelly freezes, then so will eyes. How long they remain there depends on how long the body is there and if a hungry something-or-other comes along for a free meal.
