“Sure thing.” He called over his shoulder, knowing he was being rude and unfair.
“Sure thing.” He called over his shoulder, knowing he was being rude and unfair.
She growled grabbing him turning around thier lips an inch apart putting one hand on his chest and the other cupping his neck
“What? I thought you were mad at me.” He said feeling not the slightest bit threatened by her. He didn’t know he capabilities, and she didn’t know all his.
"I'm not mad I just " she said leaving her sentence unfinished and starting to let go of him
"Just what?" He asked softly leaning forward more. Their lips almost connected.
" I-I " she stuttered not being able to get a word out.
"Caroline, you have to tell me." He said almost ready to pull away. If she couldn't answer, he would leave.
'Come on, say something, anything.' He begged her mentally, he didn't want to leave, not really, but he didn't know what was keeping him besides the fact she had stopped him.
" I like you Brad " she said not meeting his eyes.
"Do you actually like me, or are you trying to teach me a lesson?"
He knew this wasn't the right way to go, but he needed to know. He wouldn't start a relationship with just anyone, that may even include her. But he wasn't sure yet, that would be decided later. He didn't know if he liked her or not, maybe it was just the way they teased each other. Maybe he really did like her back. But he could never be sure.
" I really like you Brad but I know we're opposites and you don't like me back" she said
That hit him hard in the gut. He wasn't sure how to respond- well he did, but he wasn't going to do what he wanted to. If he did, it could send so many bad vibes. Brad's heart beat faster, and he felt awful. What could he do- or say? He was so lost, trying to think of the right words.
Giving up, he leaned in and kissed her. It was rough, and not very long either, but he wasn't sure what else to do.
Caroline looked up at him her eyes glossy once again. He had pulled away before could respond she had been hurt to many times to be hurt again
"I'm sorry Caroline, but I don't know how I feel about you. I wish I could give you your heart back, but you've given it to me, and it looks like I've lost it." He frowned pulling away from her completely. "If I find it, I'll let you know. See you later Caroline." He muttered pecking her cheek before walking away feeling like the biggest jerk and idiot there ever was.
She walked away back to the lunchroom as Callum ran to her and the two walked outside
(Do we want to end chapter one there?)
CHAPTER 2
Days had past, they all had presented their poems, Brad as well. It was nothing special, just about her outer appearance mostly. But his mind had kept wandering, each day, every day, to her. She was always on the forefront of his mind, every thing about her. From her every curve, to her every bruise. He died to know what caused them, but he didn't want to get too close. He was still unsure where they stood after he kissed her. It was all a huge mess, he just couldn't sort out. The morning was new, and Brad was sitting in the English class, almost forty minutes early. He knew he'd have some peace and quiet to type out his current thoughts without being bothered.
Caroline walked into her English class her face red and tears steaming down her cheek she ignored Brad sitting in her seat
Brad sighed hearing the door open. "I thought this would be the one da- Caroline?" He asked catching a glimpse of her face. "What's wrong? Is everything OK?" He asked softly shutting his laptop to look at her.
She didn't say a word not not looking at him. Last night she had wondered into her parents room. And she found lingerie that wasn't her mom's and perfume that wasn't her mom's in her dad's drawer.
Brad stood, and walked up beside her. "Caroline, what's wrong? You can talk to me." He said in a soothing tone, bending down and looking up at her. He was trying to make her feel more secure.
She cried walking out of the class hoping he wouldn't follow her but knowing he probably would
"Caroline?" He called softly getting up and packing his things. He quickly slung the backpack over his shoulder and jogged out after her. He didn't see her in the hall, and looked around trying to find her. "I bet she's in the writer's room."
And in fact she was pacing back and forth she took off her jean jacket revealing the cuts in her arms and neck.
Brad jogged to the writer's room, pushing the door open. "Caroline, what's wrong?" He asked as soon as he had entered. He dropped his bag to the floor, and walked up to her.
