Hey y'all.
So. . .
I have this problem where whenever I reach the beginning of the middle of my book, I just kinda shut down. I feel like the whole thing isn't good, I have NO inspiration, I don't know what to write next even though I have a whole outline perfectly describing everything I want to write and how I want to write it, and I just start hating everything I've already written. I know it's normal to kind of start critiquing your work, but I suddenly am embarrassed to let anyone read it and have no will to continue. I can't go on this way; I'll never finish a novel!
It can't be that I'm not passionate enough about what I'm writing, because all while this is happening, I still feel a love for it.
I do have anxiety. . . But that can't have anything to do with it, right?
PLEASE help me out and/or share if this has ever happened to you.
Thanks, fam!
Hey i have the same problem. the amout of stories/ novels whatever you want to call them i have started and never finished purely because i didnt think they were good enough
So I'm not alone. . . Good. DOES ANYONE HAVE ADVICE FOR PAYTEN AND I?
Okay I have the same problem and some sucky advice
Don't reread what you write the first time. Let it sit and simmer for awhile. If you look at it right away, you'll start nitpicking by nature. Keep in mind that it's the first draft and that it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to exist. Don't let people read your first draft. That's for your eyes only. Also, another reason you may think your writing is bad is because
-
You wrote it
-
You've read it 800,000,000,000,000,000 times
I guarantee you no one else thinks it's bad.
As for having no inspiration
you're not gonna like this, but you don't need inspiration to write. You just gotta do it. You don't even need detail when you first write a scene. Come back to it later and then fill in detail. If you wait for inspiration to come, you'll be waiting a good long time. Inspiration is like finding the Golden Ticket in your chocolate bar. It may be the best thing you've ever gotten, but it's only happens a few times, and sometimes you just gotta settle for the chocolate bar, which isn't bad just not what you wanted.
Just keep pushing yourself to write even if you feel drained of inspiration and your story sucks. I can assure you, it doesn't.
Hope this helped!
YOU ARE MY FRICKING SAVIOR. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!
