Pointers? What would it need? Things to avoid?
Pointers? What would it need? Things to avoid?
oof, I'm bad at advice but-
I notice that a lot of 'slice of life' things tend to stick to overdone cliche's. which can sometimes work for the story, but it gets old and boring real quick, not to mention predictable.
so maybe try to avoid using too many cliche things?? idk, maybe you can make it work well, but this is just a suggestion.
I'm here for any slice of life
@Rain_Clouds Which cliches do they normally stick to? Like backstory cliches? character cliches?
@red Nice lol
the cliches that seem to come up the most are romance cliches. also predictable drama, like a stupid misunderstanding or something.
character/backstory cliches too yea, like a bad boy with a troubled past, that's a big one.
I realize this is very vague, but I'm not good at this explaining thing, sorry. I hope this helped???
( !! I just had an idea, maybe to avoid cliches, just watch a bunch of cliche shows and don't do what they did???)
(Wait, this isn't an rp is it)
reading cliché books helps a lot too
( Sorry @red lol)
and yeah I understand @Rain_Clouds thanks for the help. :)
(It's ok. I made one if anyone wants to join. It's in the wildcard roleplaying thing)
I write a lot of short stories that might qualify as slice of life. Usually, the characters are doing mundane tasks but they talk about something that definitely isn't or the other way around. It's also fun to write something that is completely out of the ordinary for the reader but the characters make it obvious that it's almost an everyday thing toothem.
What also works to keep it interesting is to write a completely normal scene with just one small detail that makes everything seem a bit off.
I'm not sure how to deal with it when writing a full-length novel though
