It's a sub-genre of the already niche steampunk genre, and I can't find any tips on how to go about it. Does anyone have any ideas, or a general rundown of the rules of the genre? Is it purely aesthetics and machines, or is time actually a plot point of it? I so badly wanna try it out, but it's completely foreign to me and I don't know where to begin…
(This is all I've been able to squeeze out from the internet from my research, so hopefully this is helpful to you in any way)
What I mostly got out of clockpunk is that the genre mainly focuses on gears, springs, and other winding mechanics rather than steam power. This is usually set back before modern technologies were invented (mostly around/during the time of the Renaissance)

Thank you! It's probably a good thing that it leaves so much wiggle room for ideas.
