I'm currently writing a story involving magical schools (like Harry Potter but obviously different). I have one school where only a selected group of kids can get in if they worship a certain God. It's very elite-ish and cult-ish. And then I have another school where it's way easier for people to get in. You don't even have to be born with magical talents to get enrolled as they have magical charms and jewelry that helps brings out hidden magic. I can try to talk more about the schools if any one is curious but if you're also writing about a magical school, please share! Any ideas or advice for me would be great too.
It's not exactly a 'magic' school, but I have a school where children born with powers can go to learn to harness them. Otherwise it's exactly the same as a normal boarding school.
My favorite part of my magic school is that they actually let the students spend their academic and conduct "merit points" on any privileged amenities on campus: vending machine access, stationery store, reservation fees for specific events venues such as the garden gazebo for a music festival performance that has to be organized extracurricularly, gymnasium membership, swimming pool access…Most students would save up their points so that they get to dorm in their own rooms by their senior year.

That school sounds AWESOME. I'm very jealous of that stationery store.
My magic school, Uperany School for Essencical Magic (USEM), is a place in California that you get to with a subway called the Uperany Underground. The Uperany Underground leaves from the Elder Essence Mall, which is an underground mall that you access from sitting on a bench in Empire Park (Calif.).
The school itself is architecturally based off of the Chartwell Estate.
Uniforms are literally sweats (for classes) and polos with jeans (for meals). It's very laid back.
Also-I forgot to mention, this is for Essencics, which are people born with Essences in their hearts, which is pretty much their magic.

The Essences are found out on the first day of school at the sorting (Ik, too much like HP, I'll come up with a name for it) using a ring that glows a certain color which corresponds to the Essence.
The dorms are like these little house-looking things and each Essence group has their own wing. Two people to a 'house'.
The 'houses' have a living area, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and maybe a small kitchen… I haven't decided yet.

That sounds awesome and so well-developed. I love it!
Yo wth @jeteloupe I want to attend this school???? This is so beautifully developed and I love it?!
Also, Elly, may I magpie the idea of a merit system? That sounds like such a cool feature to have in place at a magic school
@The-Magician and @squidazzle thank you so much! Maybe we can follow each other??? I have so much info swimming around my brain, and writing it down felt so good…. it was awesome.
Elly-I LOVE your merit idea. Very interesting.
I followed all of you guys
Also, I'm really glad that I'm not the only one doing magic schools. Definitely makes me feel better and that I'm not copying HP
Would someone mind looking at one of my magic schools, I'd love to know what kind of things others would ask about it.
It's still in progress, but suggestions of things to add are much appreciated
It says that I don't have permission to view the page.
I REALLY want to get the premium version to make these kinds of pages, but I don't have a credit card, and I don't think my parents will pay for it. :(
Yeah I feel you there, that was pretty much me before I got a pay rise at work
Ah. I don't have a job (as I'm not 16, yet) but I will when I can.
I like your school! I think you could add a bit more info about the classes themselves (what is taught in the classes, tests, traits of the class [boring {think History of Magic w/ Prof. Binns} fun {DADA w/ Prof. Lupin} serious {Transfiguration w/ Prof. McGonagall} etc…]) and include the students that go there.
Alrighty, I’ll add that to list of things to work on— Thank you!

You're welcome! I also have a school page (it's actually a location page) but I think I'll write about it on a post soon. Could you critique that?
Yes of course! I’d love to
Thanks!
Also————- Guess what? I got an honorable mention for my short story in the Scholastic Writing and Art Contest. It’s a very prestigious national writing contest in the US. (It’s my first year, too) I’m soooo happy. I’m the only person to get anything in my middle school, which is crazy.
Thanks!

Wow, that's amazing! Congratulations!
Thanks! Do you guys have writing contests in England?
