So @SapphireElkins and I are working on this world with our friend who made the story. However she CANNOT worldbuild. Her characters fit into stereotypes PERFECTLY, she adds things about the story that didn’t exist until five minutes ago, and when we try to help she gets mad. By the way, we started writing at the beginning of August.
It's really vexing. So, if you've got any good ideas, please help us!!
@ladyawesome I am fretting.
Maybe you should just be upfront with her? explain you're trying to create an original story and you would like to avoid stereotypes if at all possible. If she's not wanting to take constructive criticism then maybe you should vote her off the island, so to speak.
@CreatorofWorlds thanks, I'll try ;)
@CreatorofWorlds - That sounds like something should do, should we pick back up again.
Maybe you could develop a list of things that you don't want to see in the story. Kinda talk about it with the others in the group first (so it doesn't look like it's just you trying to control it) and then you can eliminate what she's doing in the story. From experience it's extremely hard to get a story going if there are more than two people writing it. There always seems to be someone who isn't on the same page as the others. You could consider letting her go or maybe humor her with the story she wants and you and the others can do your own without her.
